A few years ago I read another book my Martina Šlajerová, also focused on keto. In comparison, this one is much better. I actually quite liked the sciency bits in this book, but it still suffers of too much ketosis in my humble opinion, like its claim of not eating the rainbow when it comes to veggies, because some vegetables have more carbs than others, which I naturally disagree with. Plus I am a strong believer in enjoying the cauliflower as a cauliflower not cauliflower rice or pizza crust!

But overall it's an okay book, with nice recipes. I still disagree with the name of the book - it tries to hide keto under the Mediterranean diet.

I am so excited I loved this book so I ordered it. At the point I first read tge book I really hadn't had a chance to try the recipes but I knew I would lovevthem because duh Mediterranean food um delicious. But I wanted to be be able stop say yes get it, eat it, love it lol.

Well now I can and it is so easy to follow and the food is so absolutely yummy. This book will definitely be Well beloved in our kitchen. We are losing weight and loving the food. Total win 200% (Because my husband will eat it and believe me that struggle is real! So 200% percent is probably not giving the book due credit lol).

But seriously the Cookbook is great and if you like Mediterranean foodcthis is perfection.

The New Mediterranean Diet cookbook is a bit of a change from a standard paleo cookbook- for one, the recipes are much closer to food I can eat (no bacon and shellfish for me). There are loads of delicious looking fish recipes, for example, that I can't wait to try. I do think this is a far better cookbook for adventurous cooks and eaters- the recipes are not challenging, but most would not go over well in my family of picky eaters. 4 stars- plus a half for really gorgeous photography!

A good blend of info and recipes for those wanting to try a Keto-friendly version of the Mediterranean diet.

Combines the Mediterranean diet with a low carb high fat ketogenic diet. First, the scientific underpinnings are explained, then follow recipes with comprehensive nutritional information. The recipes have a wonderful freshness about them. The book is beautifully illustrated too.

I made the Creamy Wild Mushroom Soup with dried porcinis, chestnut mushrooms and roasted cauliflower and red onions. It was creamy, earthy and delicious.

The authors do tend to use expensive ingredients such as avocado oil though.. Also for non-fish lovers, it is heavy in the use of fish and seafood.

This is one cookbook I will be buying for myself as soon as I can.

I do recommend this.

Thanks to Quarto Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this beautiful cookbook- received as an ebook that I can easily access on my iPad.
What makes this new, you ask? Starting with a personalised note from each of the authors to someone who has helped them on their health journey, through to the clearly explained definitions and health science, the simple and easy to follow recipes and of course the tasty food as a result! As someone who has read and trialled a bit of keto and the Mediterranean diet, this is a one of a kind on combining the two in such a way and will be my only ‘go to’ for recipe inspiration from now on!

The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook brings together the fresh food focus of Mediterranean diets with the cheesy goodness of keto. Unlike most diet books, however, this one backs it's claims, providing scientifically backed explanations to demonstrate exactly how these shifts in lifestyle will make positive changes in the reader's life.

While I appreciate the use of simple, straightforward language, at times the line between simple and effective, and infantilising seemed rather blurred, with some of the imagery feeling like a teacher desperately trying to get their bored students to engage with the science lesson through the inclusion of random ninja pictures. I found myself really interested in the science at first, until I started seeing pictures that could have been taken from my school science textbook. But the more I looked at the pictures, and engaged with the information being given, the more I struggled to maintain interest.

I am a huge fan of recipes that give a lot of flavour for minimal effort, and these look delicious. The recipes themselves are straightforward, though definitely not designed for those on low incomes or with food intolerances such as seafood allergies. But for those with money enough to afford the ongoing associated costs, the recipes look tasty, enjoyable, and easy enough to make.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook is an amazing recipe book to help you to eat a much healthier diet.
The book starts out introducing you to the style of the Mediterranean diet and the science behind this type of diet and cooking. Then the book moves on to mouthwatering recipes that had my taste buds tingling.
I received a pdf version of the book so I've screenshot some of the recipes I really want to give a go to try at a later date.
Each recipe includes symbols as to if certain dietary restrictions are included etc and there are the odd fun facts to go with some dishes spotted through the book.
I just hope my attempt looks as good as the photos in this book.

THE NEW MEDITERRANEAN DIET COOKBOOK is almost a unicorn for those of us searching for healthy habits. This cookbook modifies the Mediterranean Diet with a low-carb Keto approach, providing the hope that this cross-section is slightly better than either approach alone. There is a great introduction that describes the value in this approach. Each recipe has micronutrient counts listed for ease of use. I made one of the recipes in the book and was pleased with the outcome. This book is definitely at the cusp of healthy eating, for those wishing to cook or bake at home. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Detailed information, in layman’s terms which is easy to follow. There is a vast range of excellent recipes in the book, which will ensure that you will never be bored with food on this diet.

Thank you Netgalley for a free review copy in return for an honest review.

I love Martina Slajerova's recipes and blog. So, I was super excited to review her newest cookbook. As someone who is Italian-American I love these recipes. The focus on healthy fats and the ratios information is awesome. I also really liked that her desserts were not heavy laden with sugar subs. This is a very clean eating cookbook. I can't wait to try the recipes. My only reason of giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that some of the ingredients are hard to get where I live. I would love to find fresh Mackerel, but locally all I can find is canned. It would be nice if she included some options in those recipes who can't find certain ingredients. Other than that a very clean healthy keto cookbook.
