Another entertaining romance from Rosie Danan. I enjoyed the setup for this story, and the way Naomi and Ethan got closer as Naomi began to host the Modern Intimacy classes, but I felt like not very much happened between the 40% and 70% markers? Yes, there were plenty of small moments that furthered Ethan and Naomi's attraction, but nothing particularly stood out for me?

For a book about intimacy, I was also expecting more spicy scenes. Though I didn't particularly mind the lack of them (there's at about 70% and that's kind of it), it just felt a bit at odds with the whole premise of the story. I did, however, like the way Naomi discovered that being intimate doesn't have to mean physical intimacy - it means emotional closeness, too.

Overall, this was enjoyable, but not as much of a standout as the first book for me.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I reviewed this book as part of my July reading wrap up https://youtu.be/IM3wpFADf9g

A great follow up to The Roommate! I will feature in future videos too

Found Naomi's character super grating. Like in trying to make her a strong woman, she became abrasive instead, and I simply couldn't root for her when she exasperated me on every page. Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me

I think I enjoyed The Intimacy Experiment even more than The Roommate. It was sassy and very easy to read with the perfect amount of chemistry to keep me invested and reading. I think for me, the stand out conversations in this book surrounded how they explored the Jewish religion - something I don't know too much about - it was amazing to see this rep in a contemporary romance setting and I would read more in a heart beat.

I really liked seeing Naomi’s story in this book. She was one of my favourite characters in The Roommate and I was very intrigued to see more of her life. I really appreciated the discussions about religion and particularly being religious in the modern world. I did feel like the pacing was slightly off. The relationship was very slow burn until they got together and then it very much wasn’t. Overall I had a great time and would recommend.

I'm torn about how to feel about this book as I loved Rosie's previous book The Roommate. The blurb for this one was promising, however, I feel that the main character changed in order to fit in with the romance storyline rather than what I could imagine in real life.

This book was so promising in its premise. Sadly the execution fell slightly flat for me. Two things that I loved: the beautiful representation/sex positive rhetoric and the beautiful exploration of Judaism. Other than that the story didn’t particularly grip me, and while I wanted the main characters to be happy together, to say I was rooting for them might be a slight exaggeration to be quite honest. This could still work for a lot of people but despite my expectations for this book it didn’t quite work for me. Altogether not unenjoyable, but it didn’t quite get on my best books of 2021 list like I hoped it would.

I reviewed a copy of this book to review from Netgalley and all opionins are my own.
I really enjoy Rosie Danan 's writing and stories especially her previous book the roommate. Naomi is a great character, however I was disappointed to see that her character was changed quickly in the latter half of the story to fit in with the romance. The romance was sweet but felt rushed towards the end. I enjoyed the cameos by Josh and Clara from the previous book. The story was good with an interesting take on religion and romance. I liked that the author didn't hold back on exploring these topics.
Overall, I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to fans of romance.

I absolutely loved The Roommate so I had very high hopes for this.

Unfortunately I didn't love it as much as its predecessor. I felt some parts were super slow, and I didn't feel as much chemistry between Naomi and Ethan as I did Clara and Josh.

I loved the steam though, and it was also so interesting to read a book with Jewish main characters.

The Intimacy Experiment is @rosiedanan’s sequel to her debut novel The Roommate. I don’t usually like to read out of order however this is my first from this author and I will definitely be reading more!

The story follows former adult entertainer Naomi and rabbi Ethan. The pair meet at a convention and after some consideration Naomi agrees to take Ethan’s offer of a classroom for her to teach in and they embark
on the challenge of bringing modern intimacy to the young congregants of Ethan’s synagogue.

The story is dual POV which I love and while the characters on the face of it, are so different, they are so very alike and I loved seeing this through their own individual narrative. I loved Ethan and Naomi together. They complimented one another in strength and weaknesses and brought out the best in each other.

Sometimes I can find it takes me a while to get into a new author’s writing style but this book sucked me in straight away. I think the combination of the storyline and the characters really gripped me and I just wanted to see where the author was going to take us.

After feeling just okay about Roommates I was left wanting to see how Rosie Danans writing progressed.

I'll not hold anyone in suspense, I adored this book! The not being sure about one another to a working relationship which changed to a great friendship, that ended with them in an intimate and loving relationship. Chefs kiss!

Ethan who's the rabbi at a not very popular synagogue knows he has one last shot before he gets replaced and so he asks Naomi to give a lecture series about intimacy. Hopefully this will bring in more young people to the community.

Naomi is well known because of her previous profession as an adult film actress and now cofounder of a video service which helps people through the highs and possible lows of physical intimacy.

I adored everything about this book and I only wish that more time had been given with Ethan and Naomi in their relationship because the build up was so good.
Also loved to see religious representation in a romance book that keeps it central enough without it being pushed in your face. A bit of romance and a bit of learning about Jewish traditions.

Well its safe to say that Rosie Danan has done it again , which I didn't think would be possible after devouring The Roomate but The Intimacy Experiment was extremely addictive. I was unsure about Naomi's character in the first book but that quickly changed in this one. She was truly an independent woman who was willing to fight for everything that she wanted in life and was determined to get it one way or another. I loved that she was so career driven and wanted to improve other peoples lives and educate them properly on relationships. Despite not always being able to do the same for herself throughout the years, her journey showed such character development and made her into a better version of herself by the end . She deserves all the happiness after fighting so hard for all the people in her life and this was shown through her connection with Ethan . They helped each other through their messy and complicated lives and made them better. The humour and sensitivity in their bond made it seem so real and relatable . I could not recommend this enough to anyone who loves a good romance book or those who are looking to get back into them . Rosie Danan's writing makes it so easy to fall in love with her characters and have you rooting for them the whole way through.

Though a fairly clever example of chick-lit, I found the writing a little clumsy in places and long winded

Naomi is a former porn star who is moving her business into more serious territory by giving lectures and teachings on intimacy.
Ethan is the new Rabbi at a local synagogue, and he is looking for ways to bring new people in and get them more interested in religion.
When their paths cross, it seems Naomi and Ethan have stumbled across the perfect solution for them both until they start to develop feelings for each other, and the entire situation becomes supremely complicated.
This story was not at all what I expected but it was interesting to learn a bit more about Judaism.

Really fun read. I could not put this book down. Guess it is my cup of tea. Will be buying a physical copy

I sped through this! An easy breezy pleasure to read. The only thing I found tricky was actually forming a clear picture of what Naomi looked like (the only person who really describes her is Ethan, and from his point of view it’s all butts and boobs) and imagining her in real life. But I think I suffered in this from not reading the author’s first book. Red hot and great fun!

This one just didn’t work for me. I absolutely loved Rosie’s first book and I think that’s why this one just didn’t land well with me as her first is a straight up romance book, more in the vein of early Christina Lauren, whereas this one to me read more like women’s fiction, which I try to avoid. The romance felt secondary to me and the story of our female lead and her journey of self discovery came first. I loved learning about the religion but for me there just wasn’t enough romance or comedy and it felt very slow paced and just wasn’t the best for me at all.

I was hesitant reading this, just because I loved the first book so much, but i am so glad I did as I was so wrong to be hesitant. I loved this just as much as the first book, I loved the characters, especially Naomi she is so strong I love we get to see her softer side too, especially with all she has been through, it’s a nice touch to show how everyone struggles. I reall Did love this book, it’s such an emotional and inspiring read

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. I have given The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Firstly, thank you so much to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for approving me for a digital proof edition.

Secondly… I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! Holy guacamole, I could practically smell the sexual tension coming out from my phone whilst reading this book! I was really impressed by Rosie Danan’s writing style and the concept of this story, I feel as though I’ve read quite a variety of contemporary romances in the past and can say that I haven’t come across this concept before and loved it, especially learning a little more about Judaism. Danan really knows how to make your heartbeat quicken and to make your palms get a little sweaty by writing steamy sexual encounters.

This book follows two characters called Ethan Cohen and Naomi Grant. Ethan Cohen is a Rabbi from a local synagogue and Naomi Grant is a former adult porn star who is now a CEO of a sex education service called Shameless. I haven’t read Danan’s debut novel The Roommate but I belive that’s when you first meet Naomi. Naomi was such a strong, fierce and sexy woman who I really enjoyed learning about and loved when she became in control of certain situations, the confidence was literally oozing out of her skin. Ethan was an extremely charming gentleman who definitely won my heart over with his caring and kind abilities. I absolutely adored Ethan and Naomi’s relationship, their sexual tension was really intense and I found myself craving for the moment they finally became one.

I thought the Jewish representation was very well-written, along with other themes that were included in this book too which included; faith, sex working, acceptance and social prejudice. It was very interesting learning a little about the Jewish faith and culture considering I’m not Jewish and the fact that I’ve never read another contemporary romance centered around a Jewish character before.
