The heat from this book just flies off the page. I flew through this book, loved the story, brilliant characters and can’t wait to see what’s next from the author.

I didn’t particularly connect with any character or the story itself. It was not what I was expecting.
A very well written book, a different take on romance done well.

Yesyes yes! I'll definitely be recommending this book to my girl friends. It's a unique story and certainly the first one I've ever read largely set in a synagogue (I need to work on that). We learn about the characters through thoughts in the first person and how they are perceived by other characters. I definitely count myself as a fan of Rosie Danan now. Only point is that this book was not nearly as I was expecting from other reviews, it was more "fade to black".

A worthy & charismatic follow up to The ROOMMATE! Naomi was a scene stealer in book 1 and I was so excited to hear she was getting her own book. This was both steamy and heartfelt and deserves a spot on the shelf 9f every romance reader.

Writing a review of this book is such a struggle, because I'm genuinely not sure I can do it justice. For the first time in a long time, I've found a book that totally ensnared me, made me laugh out loud, and made me cry (happy tears! Which is actually even rarer than sad tears).

The Intimacy Experiment is the companion novel to The Roommate, which was a highlight of last year for me. Eager to get my grubby hands on this installment, I was expecting something not quite as good as the original but still enjoyable. However, what I got was one of my all time favourite romance novels, with the most incredible, real, unlikely pair. If I could go back and experience this book for the first time again, I would - over and over and over.

I have so many feelings right now, I can't cope.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely adored this.
The messages in this book are so strong and powerful. I expected this to be a standard, love story, a run of the mill contemporary romance. It was so much more!
I feel like I learnt a lot from this book. I heard a lot of things that I didn’t realise I NEEDED to hear. Stuff about myself, my body. This book is very sex positive and I found it to be religion positive too.
As an agnostic, I would urge you to seek reviews from Jewish readers/bloggers to get their thoughts on the portrayal or Judaism. Their view of the portrayal means, and is worth, so much more than mine ever will be as a person that doesn’t understand nor fit into that or any religion.
That being said, I found this to be a really refreshing take on religion. Ethan never forces his beliefs on Naomi, answers any questions without being patronising or acting as though he’s above her and he’s patient with her if she’s judgemental. I especially liked that Ethan banished some typical beliefs that people have about faith from the outside looking in, like no sex before marriage or abstinence. While I’m sure many people of faith DO choose to abstain, a big lesson of this book is that regardless of your faith, you choose what happens to your body. You’re in charge of your body and no one can comment on that.
Such a great book! I wish I’d known that it’s in the same world as The Roommate, I found that out after finishing it, but I’ll definitely be going back and reading The Roommate.
My reviews will be published on my social media and goodreads closer to publication date.

BOOK REVIEW: The Intimacy Experiment by @rosiedanan

4.5 Stars
Smut Scale: 3/5

I was so excited to read this book that the moment netgalley granted me access I put everything else down and started reading it! The Intimacy Experiment did not let me down and I even loved it more than the first book in this series: The Roommate. It was completely addictive and I read it in half a day as I simply could not put it down!
The lead character is Naomi, a fierce female who we came to know in the first book. I was excited for her book as she seemed like such a complex character. Due to past reasons (no spoilers!) she has created a tough exterior and is a self proclaimed "bitch". However, there is SO much more to her than her hard, fierce shell. I loved her journey through this book, plus seeing her softer side was an absolute joy. Naomi's love interest is a Jewish Rabbi named Ethan. I adored Ethan from the start as he is such a kind and caring guy but has a naughty side underneath his outward perfection. The chemistry and connection between the characters was great which meant I could really buy into their relationship.

The story involves a lot of talk about religion, specifically the Jewish religion. This was such an interesting topic and for a non Jew, I learnt a lot and thought that this aspect added a great deal of depth to the story.
The storyline was quite obvious but it was done to perfection so it didn't matter. There was so much depth which I wasn't expecting and the talk about sex and intimacy was really positive and informative. I love how pro safe pleasure both books are. There is no shame in enjoying sex in any form!
I have knocked half a star off as there was only one smutty scene and I felt the story could have done with at least one more.
Overall this is a wonderful romance filled with humour, depth, chemistry and sex positivity. I HIGHLY recommend this series!

Please note that I was #gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

You can't make up a former adult performer and a rabbi relationship story. This was really cute and although religion does appear in this it's far from shoved down your throat ahem. This has a bunch of personal growth and it's super positive in all aspects.

If you've read The Roommate and screamed that you needed to know more about Naomi, you wish has come true!

Naomi Grant is a superhero. At least, she's got the alter ego part worked out really well. A sucessful Porn Star (and yes, she means star) and now the CEO of an inclusive sex education start up, she isn't one to shy away from a challenge. She's on a mission to educate the masses on real, healthy and satisfying intimacy - emotionally and definitely physically. And Naomi is a damn good teacher.

Ethan was a great teacher, and now he's an even greater Rabbi. Following Reform Judaism, Ethan loves to teach people to embrace modernity alongside tradition - so having a speaker to entice people into his Synagogue as well as teaching valuable lessons sounds perfect. Naomi would be perfect. So here begins the experiment - they've got seven weeks worth of lectures to make this project work and get people through the door. But maybe they could learn something themselves.

As soon as I met our main characters, I was in love. Naomi was a powerful, beautiful woman who brought feminism and inclusivity into every aspect of her life and wasn't above learning to improve herself. Ethan was just a beautiful soul, seeing every person as the best they can be and seeing beyond the superficial.

As someone who didn't know much about Reform Judaism, this book was an amazing eye-opener. Seeing Ethan blend his scientific beliefs and modern life with his faith - it definitely made me think about my preconcieved notions about people of faith and examine them a little more closely.

The Intimacy Experiment was a steamy, provocative story about the absurdity of modern love and relationships and the grey areas between blind faith and personal beliefs. Beautifully, viscerally real in a way that was unbelieveably refreshing - I especially adored the nonchalant way Naomi addresses her bisexuality because she damn well knows it's nothing to be ashamed of and I felt seen on every single page.

Insightful and thoughtful, but with generous amounts of steamy, heart filling romance - this is definitely one to watch.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to Rosie Danan and NetGalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I read this book just after finishing 'The Roommate' and was so happy to see that Naomi got her own story shared. as there were many questions left unanswered about her former life.

"The Intimacy Experiment' is a much tamer love story, full of spirituality, female empowerment and learning how to understand yourself, with the steamy scenes reflecting the 'Modern Intimacy' teachings displayed within the book. Although the book did burn more slowly than the first, the end result was the same. Danan makes you empathise with the characters and root for them all the way through. Her style of writing makes it an enjoyable read whilst still making you think deeper than the average rom-com.

The Intimacy Experiment wasn't quite I was expecting having read The Roommate first, but it defied any expectations I may have had, in the best way possible - much like Naomi Grant, our main character. Somehow despite reading the synopsis I didn't clock that this book was following Naomi who was first introduced in The Roommate, talk about an oversight on my part! I liked that even if you haven't read the other book, The Intimacy Experiment stands up well on it's own and can be read as is, without any prior knowledge of the characters / previous storyline.

I really enjoyed the conversations in the book surrounding faith and personal choices and relationships, it was so interesting to read as both Ethan and Naomi navigate this in their lives and go on a journey of self. In particular this book was an eye opener for me in regards to Reform Judaism, a movement or group within the Jewish faith which I previously had no knowledge of. I liked how Ethan, who is a Rabbi - approached matters of faith and expresses his beliefs and conviction and while I can't speak to the rep of Judaism in this book, it was definitely nice to read characters navigate their personal relationships with their own faith and how they live their lives accordingly.

While this book has it's fair share of 'steamy' scenes and sexual tension galore, it also builds up the romantic tension and emotional connection between Ethan and Naomi well. Both characters, for different reasons have found themselves closed off to love and relationships so it was really cute to see them falling for each other as they spend more time together. I liked getting a more in depth look into Naomi's backstory and read as she opens herself up and finds power in her heart and vulnerability without it being cliched or tired, I really like when this is done in a believable way and I think Danan definitely succeeded in this respect. Plus Ethan is gloriously soft and sweet.

Overall an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to whatever Rosie Danan writes next!

Thank you to Little, Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

The Roommate was one of my favorite reads last year and I can say that The Intimacy Experiment was a worthy successor!
After reading about Naomi Grant in the Roommate I was very excited to hear this book followed her. She and Ethan are a very unlikely pairing, but this is what makes this book so special. He is an adorable softhearted Rabbi and she is a tough Ex-Pornstar and now successful business woman.
Especially the Dichotomy that are featured in this book made it special and super enjoyable. Ethan is not only a rabbi but also a man of science, physics specifically. And while I passionately hate physics and don't know a lot about Judaism, I really liked how they were connected and also explained.
And the lecture series that Naomi gave was actually really good and full of advice that also can be applied in the real world.
And I was really able to connect with Naomi with her problems and struggles and this made this book for me even more special. It is something I can relate to and maybe I will be able to take some of the advice and apply it in the real world.

All in all it was a well-written book with a compelling story that had real emotional depths and I can only recommend it to everyone who liked The Roommate

The story - ⭐⭐
The writing - ⭐⭐⭐
Overall - ⭐⭐⭐

The build up in this one was great, the end, not so much. The potential was there, but it felt like Danan only really put the effort into the flirty ramp up, and then when the leads got together and the drama happens, got bored and just threw an ending together.

Fave quote - 'Rabbis are definitely free to fuck.'

Fave moment - The softball game

I mean I absolutely adored the Roommate by Rosie Danan so when I saw that she had written a book with Naomi Grant as the main character I knew I had to request it straight away.

I was not disappointed with this book. It had humour, a little sexual tension (not as much as the Roommate) and we got to see Naomi fall in love and fall hard. You see her come out of her shell a little bit and find out why she is seen as a hard nut.

Ethan is her beau - he is a Rabbi of one of the local synagogues. He is trying to get more people to attend his place of worship and wants to appeal to the younger generation. He meets Naomi by chance at a workshop and asks if she can help.

This would definitely make a good film. I loved the chemistry between Naomi and Ethan. My only gripe is that I would of loved to have seen more of Josh and Clara as well as a but more of the smuttiness and sexual tension that was present in the first book.

It was a really enjoyable book and I cannot wait to get my hands on a finished copy.

The story of Naomi and Ethan. Opposites attract and you hope they can stay together when Ethan's job is keeping them apart.

I really wanted to love this book. I enjoyed The Roommate, Rosie Danan's previous novel, and I was excited for this companion novel following different characters. However, I was let down. My main issue with this story was the lack of development. I kept questioning whether or not I had missing chapters because the romance seemed to develop out of nowhere with little explanation. I didn't feel the connection between Ethan and Naomi because it did honestly come out of nowhere. I wanted to love this book as I find them both really interesting characters. I loved the discussions around religion and modern love but overall, the romance developed way too quickly for my liking. It did not feature key romantic moments or even many moments where the characters were alone to even develop feelings for each other.

I was really excited for this as had just finished the first book in the series. I thought it had a unique twist on the typical chick lit. It was well worth a read and distracted me for an evening.

A delightful and original romantic comedy. The characters were so sexy yet adorable! Loved this book!

This book was a delightful surprise. I did not think I would enjoy a romance about a Rabbi and a former Porn star as much as I did. This has some small open door scenes. It’s a charming look into over coming reputations to fall in love.
