Marisa is struggling with a death in her family. Struggling with an anxiety disorder, she decides to move to Mount Polbearne; next door to a noisy Russian piano teacher. To begin with Marisa cannot leave the house but gradually, with the help of the kind people in the village, she begins to gain confidence.
I enjoyed reading this book and following Marisa's journey.

I loved this book. Iv read all of the Little Beach Street Bakery books so it was lovely to meet Polly and Huckle again along with their new additions.....and Neil of course. We wer introduced to some lovely new characters too, you feel for Marisa with her anxiety disorder and also the big “bear” Alexei with his unrequited love.
I love Jenny’s writing, her description of places, people and food ( don’t read when hungry as your mouth is constantly watering) is just amazing, I want to visit Mount Polbearne, meet Polly, Huckle, Kerensa and even Reuben and eat one of Pollys cakes and especially one of Marisas Pizzas, I can’t wait to meet them all again in Jenny’s next Beach Street Bakery addition.
Thank you very much to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me the privilege of reading this early copy!

I love books written by Jenny Colgan. This one was just as good. I loved the setting and couldn't put it down. A great book to escape in.

Gosh this was good, I really enjoyed this book. Polly and the people of Mount Polbearne have always been my favourite of Jenny Colgan’s books so I was delighted to revisit Mount Polbearne and catch up with Polly and Neil, and family.

This was very much a proof copy that I read and it had a lot of formatting craziness. But I was so engrossed in the story that I was able to skim past the odd bits of text.

Marisa, a new arrival in Mount Polbearne, is an Italian and her cookery sounds quite wonderful, I’ve got a massive craving for a really good pizza now. Marisa herself is delightful and her interactions with her enormous bear of a next door neighbour are quite charming.

This book deals with grief and mental health very well, it deals with loneliness and being distanced from your family. It’s a charming and thought provoking book, with familiar and lovely characters. I loved it, it’s one of Jenny’s best.

It’s the fourth in the series of books set in Mount Polbearne. The first is The Little Beach Street Bakery, followed by Summer at the Beach Street Bakery and Christmas at the Beach Street Bakery. You could read this as a stand alone book however, it doesn’t need you to have read the previous ones. They’re all lovely though, I would recommend reading them in order.

Great book, highly recommend.

I’ve really struggled with this one. Just too melancholy to find any meaning in it. Perhaps I’ve grown out of her writing style or this just isn’t a book for me...
