"Journey to Zlorta" by S.N. Hunt presents a premise that initially promises an intriguing blend of nightmares turned reality and an intense battle against an evil vampire. However, the execution of this concept falls short of its potential, resulting in a narrative that struggles to fully engage and immerse readers in its world of supernatural peril.

While the central theme of nightmares turning into reality holds the potential for a gripping and suspenseful storyline, the execution of this idea feels underdeveloped, with the narrative failing to fully explore the psychological depth and emotional resonance of the protagonist, Sarah. The portrayal of the evil vampire and the ensuing journey through the Veil lacks the necessary nuance and depth to create a truly immersive and compelling reading experience.

Additionally, the character dynamics and the romantic subplot between Sarah and Micheal, while intended to add emotional depth to the narrative, feel underexplored and fail to evoke a strong sense of investment in their relationship or individual journeys. The pacing of the plot also appears uneven, with certain key plot points feeling rushed and lacking the necessary buildup to create a truly impactful and suspenseful narrative arc.

Overall, "Journey to Zlorta" attempts to blend elements of supernatural horror and romance, but its execution lacks the necessary depth and development to fully realize its potential. While the initial premise shows promise, the overall narrative struggles to engage readers on a deeper emotional and psychological level, resulting in a reading experience that may leave some audiences wanting for a more immersive and engaging exploration of its central themes and characters.

As a big fan of fantasy that pulls in different elements to make this full immersive narrative and world where the characters feel so real to you, I loved this one.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. An interesting period piece novel that has a bit of sci-fi and romance. Might be a good pick for Halloween Month 🎃.

Had a good story but was a bit slow and could use some more descriptive-ness. I enjoyed the main character but I felt a lot was left to the imagination.

The premise and front cover I admit was what drew me in and I’m glad they did. I loved the direction the author took and her characters, I just loved them so much and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Can’t wait to read more

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

2.5/5 - I really don't know if I like it or hate it.. it was hard during the first chapters to not dnf it. There is a really weird, creepy and cringy start to this book that in my opinion was completely unnecessary and don't give a good start for the reader at all. Especially when you understand that the event don't even influence the rest of the story at all, completely pointless. It would have been better to focus on the development of the characters.. So once you pass the assault and the disgusting actions of the wolf, it can start to be an OK story. Even if Sarah (the MC) is really letting everything happening to her without asking questions, having an once of trauma or any survival instinct whatsoever.
Was not a big fan of the writing and the sudden change of pov sometimes but overall the story had potential. The ideas are great, and the plot is interesting, just need more work about the background and the development of the story. Hopefully the next one is better, even if it was not my favourite read of the year, it was also not the worst and I want to know what happened next ;).

This story had an interesting premise, however I felt the execution was lacking. The first few chapters felt as though they were there for shock value rather than world or character building - I think it could benefit from some content warnings as I found a certain scene in the opening few chapters extremely difficult to get through.

DNF-ed at 20%

The premise and cover of this book were more than enough to draw me in, but sadly, it just did not work out for me. Though I do kind of see the direction that the author wanted to take in this story and her characters, I just didn't really see myself getting invested in them now, or maybe in the future. The idea was already there, but it just really lacked the execution.

With thanks to BooksGoSocial and S.N. Hunt for an advanced readers copy of this book.

3*

A fair and quick read, the usually fantasy paranormal romance. Definitely the kind of book that I would binge on KU between bigger reads.

The book has a simple storyline that follows Sarah who gets whisked away in a magical world by a man who has been haunting her dreams. The story has some elements of instalove leading into a strong romance storyline which I don't mine, and some rather lovely moments of worldbuilding.

A beautifully well-written book with a sequence of suspense and a curious cliffhanger. The plot is very interesting and the existence of faes, vampires and shape shifters makes it even more exciting. With an amazing plot and suspense, the powers, the enmity, It is a pack full of amuzement.

Oh I didn't finish this. Not even close. I received an arc copy of this kudos of netgalley and really wanted to try and finish it for the sake of a review but I really couldn't bring myself to pick it back up.
In the first 3 chapters the main character is sexually assaulted, sees her assailant get his head ripped off in front of her by a monster (that's been spying on her and jizzing on her bed) then sees that monster get stabbed by someone with a sword. She then passes out, essentially gets kidnapped by the sword guy, decides to go along with him because suddenly she's horny for this guy?

I just... I can't. The book makes me feel really icky. Im just not even interested in going further. I've never had such a physical reaction to a book, but this one honestly left me feeling uncomfortable in my skin.

While the concept was engaging I found the actual book somewhat forgettable. It was too cookie cutter romance novel for my tastes. The writing was all right but lacked depth. I probably will not pursue the sequel.

I wasn't able to get through this book. I thought the plot was weird and the whole animal/human thing was too much for me.

I just couldn't finish this book and I tried multiple times. So many aspects just didn't make sense to me and I feel like certain scenarios within the book went from 0 to 100 really quickly, I normally enjoy fantasy romance books but this one just wasn't for me

Well i must admit I agree with others. This wasn't that great. It was slow and to be honest I didn't really want to finish it but I refuse to DNF an arc. There was nothing really unique about this and to be honest the characters and world were dull. I am a vamp girl but even having vamps in didn't save this story.

This book was a really fun and enjoyable read. The characters were relatable and had great depth. I definitely recommend it and will be ordering copies for my library.

The writing of this book was very hard to enjoy. The story and plot had a lot of potentials but it was hard to overlook the cringy self-thoughts in italics and the book explains instead of shows.

The worldbuilding of this story was amazing and I really loved its otherworldly qualities. Sarah and Micheal were interesting characters and even though the progress into their romance happened a bit too quickly, I still believed in their connection to each other.

Sarah needed Micheal's help as a Guardian to navigate around a new world. And there was a lot of secrecy surrounding what was expected of Sarah. So, I find it frustrating that Sarah goes into things too trustingly without asking anyone any questions. However, this book did manage to make me curious about what happens next for Sarah and Micheal in their magical adventures. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read.
