This is a well written book. The storyline is unpredictable and the characters are likeable and realistic. This is an outstanding domestic drama

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

It was rather slow-going, and the 2 POVs didn't help much at first (Kate's is in 1st Person, Bec's is in 3rd) but the suspense was compelling, and there was so much mystery around Adam and Kate's past that it did keep me reading. Didn't care much for Bec, I have to admit, from start to middle, then the story picked up and led to a good culmination that held the line well.
Overall, it has a Liane Moriarty vibe to it, so if you're into that kind of story-telling, then this one should appeal to you

This book is a hard one to rate...I did enjoy it and find it a page turner but there was lots of things within it that I struggled with.

Firstly there should definitely be a trigger warning for cancer. Although always good to be educated...this is a type of cancer I have never even heard of and have certainly thought about since. For people that know too much about this rare cancer...it may be a bit too much for them.

Secondly Bec was such a difficult character. Absolutely hated her...and everything she stood for. The fact that she got her head turned so quickly by attractive but dull as dishwater Ryan was so frustrating and I felt really sorry for her husband and young children.

Thirdly...I don't think Kate would have to date 14 men to find someone who wanted to properly date her. She was a supermodel. With one issue....I knew there was something that the men were apparently not sure about...and it took far far too long for the full story to come out (I found this very frustrating) but once it did...I very much doubt those men would even remotely care about that. It was so much more minor than I was expecting (though of course not for Kate). .I really don't think anyone would be slightly bothered about the issues Kate was presenting. Can see how it ended her career and affected her confidence...could not see how it affected her dating life in the slightest....

As I have mentioned...it took much too long to find the information out about what happened to Kate. This needed to be at the beginning of the book. Some teases fair enough but it was far too drawn out. We needed that information whilst she was dating, right at the beginning to form an opinon and understand what was happening. Without it...all we had was a ridiculously beautiful woman struggling to date for 'reason' which didn't mean anything and as such meant those chapters didn't have any impact.

Adam was portrayed as this amazing man because he overlooked the one 'reason' where others wouldn't. I don't think that was that honourable as who would actually have any issue with it but overall liked Adams character.

The mystery was quite interesting but think we needed a more drip of clues. We kind of got nothing at all for chapters and chapters then a huge information dump.

It was an interesting read but could have been so much tighter and if it had wanted to be a social commentary needed more focus on the issues rather than just the dating issue which seems quite minor in comparison.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a pacy gripping beach read but I didn't really engage with any of the characters in depth and felt it was all a bit predictable.

The Mistake is set in Australia where the two female protagonists lead very different lives.
Kate is an ex-top model who is struggling to find 'the one' and Bec - a stay-at-home mum of two children who attend a prestigious and is the wife of a Dr.

Bec's life isn't all as it seems - there is an instance with the Dr where cataclysmic events and Bec's decisions unfold dramatically.
Kate's life isn't also as it seems - a back story informs the reader that Kate is dealing with her own issues.

Nevertheless, the relationship between the sisters is believable and there is a good twist to the end of the novel.

Two Opposites....
Two sisters. Two complete opposites. Or so it has always seemed. A tension mounting, often witty but wholly entertaining tale of life, loves, choices and dramas which will keep the reader engaged from start to finish with a credible and well drawn cast of characters.

This is my first novel by this particular author and I really enjoyed it.

I liked the two main characters, Bec and Kate and enjoyed the plot of this book. Bec and Kate are sisters but complete polar opposites in their demeanour. One has a seemingly picture perfect life and the other was once a model but is now studying for a degree. They both meet a potential new love interest, even Bec who is apparently married. but has her eye turned by a handsome man. A funny and emotional read.

I will not give too much away of this book but it is a good read and I enjoyed Katie McMahon's style of storytelling. I did find myself skim reading at times, but this was only because I wanted to know where the story was leading to.

Thanks to NetGalley, Katie McMahon and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in return for my honest review.

I liked the sound of it but it did not translate into the plot. I found this very confusing and was not sure what was going on. This jumped to different timelines without making it clear and it would take a paragraph or so to figure what was happening which did not aid enjoyment.
I did not connect to Bec or Kate either, they were alright on paper but there was little connection. Despite them being the main characters I thought they were quite under-developed.

Loved this - great for fans of Sally Hepworth, Lianne Moriarty etc- The Mistake is the tale of two sisters who are very different - and the story flits between the two viewpoints. Entertaining and with a thriller twist, a great book

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
This was a good read, fundamentally about the relationship between two sisters. The dynamics of their relationship was well written and certainly interesting. There were a number of stories running through this book, which made the plot exciting and kept me reading to see how things panned out.
A debut novel by this author which I thoroughly enjoyed and I look forward to reading her next book.

I felt this was a bit of a slow burner for me. I didn’t feel the drama - that I was expecting - was up to par however, I did enjoy the storyline and the characters.

I thought this was going to be quite thrilling and although there were some undertones of a thriller genre it was mainly about two sisters who led completely different lives and lifestyles.

It was a good read, I felt there were some comedy aspects and was more of a lighthearted/light thriller read.

Thank you to Katie McMahon and Netgalley for allowing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
