Not sure where the comedy was in this book , as i dint find it funny at all, and was surprised to see it was meant to be. I found the plot ridiculous and the dialogue clunky.. Though did raise the interesting thought about what happens to female spies when they get pregnant.

This was a hysterical read, a look at a middle age wife and mom named Vicky who’s kids are old enough now that she think about going back to work, maybe part-time? Unfortunately for Vicky, her previous job was as an undercover spy for a super secret government group. She left under an operation where she got involved with a foreign agent and caused the death of her own agent.

Vicky decides to join the PTA, partly because she’s interested in a Russian couple who act a little strangely. MI5 approaches Vicky, and she finally decides to meet with her former boss. She finds out that they want her to get close to the Russian wife, close enough so she can bug their house and more.

This book kept me chuckling throughout. The spy parts were great, and I could totally relate to the PTA Christmas fair. I highly recommend this funny and intelligent book, 5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I started reading this book, rather sceptical thinking it would be a bit Unrealistic but I can sincerely say I was wrong

The characters were so likeable, the story line is really good and engrossing. I highly recommend reading this book!

Once, I got into it. I couldn’t put it down. It hard my heart racing in parts, but also laughter and a few tears along the way.

I so hope there is a follow up to this book! Vicky embodies every feeling and insecurity a mum has of losing their identity and becoming just "mum" as they chase their children round. For Vicky however it is so much worse, the life she gave up for the PTA was that of a top secret spy, and not even her husband knows the truth until that life decides it wants her back.

I laughed at Vicky's struggles and found the whole story really light-hearted. I would highly recommend.

A great laugh out loud comedy that i have had the opportunity to read recently! The main character Vicky appears as a typical housewife and mother. Each day is the same as the last taking care of her family and her home, whilst trying to avoid being on the pta at school. 14 years down the line though her past comes back to haunt her, does she have the skills to cope with being a school mum and a spy? The story is fast-paced so you never get bored and with it your laughing with each page you turn.!!

Funny, clever, thrilling and super easy to read! Never thought that a spy novel would be for me but this has definitely changed my mind. Nearly enough to make me join the PTA!

Women's fiction with a truly original twist; and what a brilliant combination. A great balance of mum life/playground politics and fascinating detail of working as an undercover spy. It was the perfect holiday read - engaging, clever, interesting and very enjoyable

What a fantastic debut novel! A perfect mixture of drama and comedy, and Vicky was a fantastic character, funny and witty.

I flew through this book, it definitely brought a smile to my face and as a 40 odd year old mum, I was loving living precariously through Vicky lol.

If you’re in a reading slump, this is the book for you!

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for the copy.

If this is a debut novel, then I hope there are many more to come!
This was such a refreshing change from the sort of books that I normally read and it was most welcome.
I loved the book from start to finish and instantly wanted to read more similar tales from Vicky, the schoolmum spy.
I loved the comedy alongside tackling some real life issues that are faced by mums who want to work as well as juggling all the challenges of parenting. While in many ways it was totally unrealistic and fantastical, it was so believable that a suburban mum would be a spy, alongside her active involvement in the PTA.
Wonderful story - more please.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC to review. Opinions are my own.

Everyone has a past
Every working mum has a set of demands that require split second timing and accuracy
Vicky’s past is a bit more exotic that most and her new job requires a bit more secrecy and organisation
After beginning her family Vicky did not regret giving up her job - as a spy.
But her children are growing up and she wants some more to do and when her former employers ask for her help she joins the PTA to do some undercover work.
Great fun and I would love to read more

'Tinker, Tailor, Schoolmum, Spy' by Faye Brann is the best, laugh out loud comedy that I have read in a long time.
Vicky Turnbull appears to be a typical mum and housewife. She spends her days looking after her family and trying to dodge the local PTA. After 14 years of regular life, Vicky's past comes back to haunt her, and she has to decide if she can cope with being a schoolmum and a spy.
The characters are well-developed and the story proceeds at a rapid pace, ensuring that the reader is never bored but engrossed in the hilarious story.

I loved this book! It was so funny to start with, imagining Vicky to be a spy when she felt so normal and a typical mum figure, but it was lovely to see her begin to blossom and remember her former self- turns out she was and is a pretty great spy!
Lovely to read, entertaining and a bit different from your usual chick lit!

The story progressed well and switched smoothly between scenes and focus shifts. The main characters were well fleshed out and likeable. It was a little predictable at times but Faye still had a few surprises up her sleeve! Overall this was a fantastic debut and I would definitely be intrigued to read more in the future!

Action, drama, spy thriller epic and fantastic read all rolled into one. The title of this book was an immediate draw and I knew it was going to be a brilliant book before I even opened it! It’s one of their books which just sounds amazing and it certainly delivered on my expectations.

With a main character who is so easy to love, personable and real, it was great to follow her adventures of life as a mum and an undercover spy!
