For me, this story is an easy read and interesting read. Actually, I chose the wrong person as the murder at the end of the story. The story is set in the countryside that is always thought of by people as peaceful and calm but actually has a lot of secrets. The people are much more close-knit with each other and know everyone’s stories (or busybody). The story is simple and quite straightforward. I like how the protagonist solves these crimes and maneuvering her ways with her neighbours and coworkers at the same time. The story is a good cozy mystery and an easy read. I am hoping all the best for the next story from the author.

PC Jemima Cotton has left the Met in search of a different pace of life and a change of scene following a relationship break up. She moves into Foxglove Close in the village of Little Cote, which becomes the epicentre for a series of strange murders. The residents are a well drawn cast of characters, and village is life convincingly portrayed and reminiscent of Miss Marple's St Mary Mead or Midsommer Murders. The ending felt a little rushed, but I hadn't guessed the murderer - always a sign of a good whodunit!

Glorious Dollop Of Pure Escapism...
A glorious dollop of pure escapism in this first of a series featuring ex Metropolitan Police officer Jemima Cotton who has made a move to the village of Little Cote in search of a quieter and more peaceful way of life. Her optimism, however, is dashed when the murders begin and she realises that there is much more beneath the surface of village life than meets the eye. A short but wholly enjoyable, relaxing and entertaining read with a likeable protagonist in Jemima and a colourful cast of supporting characters.

Villages and nosy neighbours....

Not the best combination for PC Jemima Cotton, who's just moved into her new home. And especially not when a dead body is discovered in Foxglove Close, a couple of doors down from her house.

But the neighbours seem to be harbouring secrets....

I hope this is the start of a great series :)

Jemima Cotton left the Metropolitan Police to live a quieter life. She’s chosen the a small English village, hoping that the biggest problems there will involve parking spaces and barking dogs. But she’s in for a surprise, as she’s barely settled in when she’s called to a murder scene, just a few doors down from her new home. Why would someone want to murder an elderly man having tea in his own backyard? Unfortunately, people are the same everywhere and petty jealousies and ugly secrets abound in Little Cote, as Jemima is about to discover. This is a delightful cozy mystery with a likeable heroine and the perfect chocolate box (at least on the outside) village
