Thanks to Bold Strokes Books and Netgalley for this ARC.
Two stars because of the concept, but if it's not the concept it's a one-star read.
The book has an intersex main character who's also a royalty(!) So it talks a lot about how difficult it is to be an intersex person growing up in a conservative family, such as a royal family - which is of course, the prime example of conservative family.
I had high hopes when I started reading this book, as it's the first book for me with an intersex main character and as a cisgender female I wished to learn more about it. But the book is a huge disappointment. It's incredibly preachy - some preachy content is good, and probably necessary, but people in this book TALK IN INSTAGRAM CAPTION.
It's good to be sensitive, and the book dealt with gender issues with utmost care and consideration. But here comes the hypocrisy: they are rude towards each other on all other aspects than gender issues. The main characters humiliate each other in public, hurt each other on purpose. How is it morally acceptable?
Another issue I have with the book is that it has no plot. I don't follow the logic. I don't get how the main characters can fall in love with each other, hate each other, started touching each other and humiliate each other all within a day, while literally nothing has happened. The book is 90% preaching and 10% plot that makes no sense.
The fictional country is the biggest joke in the book. The whole country seemingly only exists of the palace and the royal family. But they have a national anthem, which is replaced by Born This Way in the end. I feel offended for the fictional citizens from that country, but oh well, only the royal family matters anyways.

I was looking forward to this book very much, based on its synopsis, but I'm sorry to say that it didn't deliver. I found myself going through pages without any particular interest, and Remy just wasn't my cup of tea as a person; they just felt too immature and it wasn't giving me the vibe and chemistry with Sam... 2.5 Stars from me.
