I have read a few from the writer which I really enjoyed but this book didn't come close to others.
Very slow, drag and way too boring.
For the very first I committed a sin of going to end chapter even before reaching the mid way .
So now you know what to do with it .

Thank you to the publisher and @NetGalley for the #gifted copy of the book.

Ollie and Claire Nolan are facing every parents worst nightmare. Their daughter has disappeared from the local fair she was attending with her grandmother, Jill. No one saw her leave. There are search parties and police question the fair workers but no one has seen Bea. Is it the ex-wife Laurel or maybe Philip, the neighbor who lives with his mother? Is it the best friend or a client of Claire’s? Can Ollie and Claire’s marriage survive?

This was a solid read and kept me turning the pages. It was fast paced and although I figured out #whodoneit, I still kept reading.

The book was an entertaining and interesting read, and another killer offering by a talented author. Unfortunately it was quite easy and quick to figure out who was the baddy, but the rest of the book you keep on reading to see why they did what they did! I will continue to read novels by this author.

Another cracker from the author. I can always read her books in a single setting as I'm just so engrossed from the very start. This is no exception.

A good book that I enjoyed reading, it was easy to read and had some suspense about it which was good. When your child goes missing you realise who really cares, who you can trust and how it can change you as a person. I thought the relationship between Beatrice's mother and Grandma was explored very well. It's a tricky relationship at the best of times, let alone when the grandmother is looking after her when she goes missing.

Seven-year-old Beatrice has gone missing. Her mother Claire’s whole world has been turned upside down in just one moment and she can’t stop shaking. She’s desperate to find her precious daughter, but nothing about the day she disappeared makes sense…

It’s fast paced and an easy read. However, it gets slightly predictable towards the end.

Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Everyone should read books written by Shalini Boland! And luckily for us, she has quite a few published with Bookouture and every one of them is a taut, suspenseful read. My Little Girl is just like that with the suspense building with every page until a big twist at the end.

While there are many books out there with a plot line around child abduction, My Little Girl is well able to hold its own. For one, it keeps you guessing. There are a few potential perpetrators presented to the reader yet the true abductor is not obvious. Even better, the diversions are natural and not obvious, outrageous red herrings.

There are instances where the characters annoyed me, but overall I enjoyed them all. I certainly appreciated that Claire and Ollie aren’t the married couple that follow the same plot line once the child is abducted. You know what I mean, violent arguments, affairs, etc. However, it is Jill, the mother-in-law, who stands out for me. Yes, I find her the most annoying character but the author has done a great job of portraying an aging widow eager to be involved in her granddaughter’s life but feels pushed inside. Additionally, we also see through Jill the loneliness and financial hardships that those at retirement age often experience.

However, to be completely honest, there were things that took My Little Girl from a 4 to a 3-star book for me. I felt that the first half of the book was a little repetitive and there were instances where the characters rambled and the text could have been shortened. Also, Ollie played a big part in the story and it would have been interesting to see things from his point of view.

Nevertheless, My Little Girl is a good read.

My Little Girl is a tense, twisted new book by Shalini Boland. I love the way Shalini writes & this book too was great in every way. And although I did guess the culprit accurately there were many surprises along the way. The description & dialogue between the characters feels genuine & believable. While at the start I found certain characters to get on my nerves I grew to like them, eventually. The book felt like an accurate representation of a real case & Shalini managed to capture all the nuances that made the crime & story so unique. There is something very refreshingly unique about Shalini's books. I wouldn't miss a book by this author.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture & Shalini Boland for an arc!

I need to stop with these child abduction stories.

Take this review with a grain of salt. I love this author’s work, the characters she creates, and even the, completely over the top, twists. I thought this story was good also it just reminded me of another child abduction story I’ve recently read (all of them really, if I’m honest). They seem to follow a routine course of action:

*provide the way too obvious to be the perpetrator but you want us to think it
*throw out another handful of possibilities as red herrings even though they are pretty weak suspects
*circle back to the actual culprit who was a trusted ally that presented completely normal but is a straight up weirdo

Check, check and check… Of course that’s not the author’s fault, it’s mine for requesting it. As far as these things go it’s a fun, quick ride. If you like this author’s work I doubt you will be disappointed. The ending gave me a chuckle, that epilogue. I’ll be excited for the next one by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

My Little Girl
By Shalini Boland

I am a fan of Shalini Boland’s stories. I was excited to have received an ARC from NetGalley & Bookouture and I thank you both for this.

Jill was grateful to be able to take her granddaughter and her friend to the traveling fair in town. Claire doesn’t let Jill have much responsibility when it comes to Beatrice. Jill is getting older and is more of a nuisance than anything. Plus she is friends with Ollies ex-wife. Thanks to Ollie for not being up to going to the fair and unbeknown to Claire, Jill ended up taking the girls to the fair.
While at the fair Jill takes a call from Laurel, Ollies ex-wife. Jill cuts the call short but not short enough. As she sees Beatrice’s friend, Beatrice herself is no where to be found. She vanished into thin air and no one saw the little girl in the red dress.
Who took the little girl? Could it have been the jealous ex-wife? Could be a client of Claire’s who has a crush & send death flowers?
I really enjoyed reading this as well as all of Shalini’s stories. She has a way with psychological twists.

Again, thank you to NetGalley and bookouture for the ARC for my honest review.

Claire and Oliver are living in a parent’s worst nightmare. Their sweet daughter, Beatrice is missing. Beatrice vanished without a trace while attending the fair with her grandmother, Jill. She is riddled with guilt for not being more aware and not keeping a watchful eye on Beatrice. Feeling responsible, Jill organizes a search party in hopes of finding her sweet girl. Everyone is under the veil of suspicion and trust is in short supply. Who took Beatrice? Was it an unhinged stranger, or is the culprit someone near and dear? This story is intriguing and compelling and kept me reading late into the night. Shalini Boland perfectly paced this twisty tale. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
