This book took me by surprise, and I couldn't contain my excitement. Featuring a main character surrounded by war heroes, a wounded yet fierce female protagonist, and a strikingly sexy male biker, the story had me hooked. The depth of character and world-building, despite being new to this author's work, made me feel like there was a rich narrative beneath the surface, leaving me craving more books in this captivating world.

The hidden depth of Jakob, a former soldier now operating outside the law, intrigued me. His internal struggles and undeniable sex appeal added complexity to the story, as he worked to maintain order in his town. The dynamic with Krista, a fellow veteran working at a bar, built up with palpable tension, leading to an explosive and seductive connection that left me yearning for more.

What stood out most was the authenticity of both characters; they felt real, complete with flaws and attributes that made them relatable. The mature handling of their interactions, without allowing issues to fester, was a refreshing change from typical romance tropes. Even instances of miscommunication were swiftly resolved, building trust between the characters.

The inclusion of explicit consent in the book, especially during heated moments, where Jakob consistently reminded Krista of her control and the ability to revoke permission, added a layer of depth that resonated with me. Overall, this unexpected gem has left me eager to explore more books by this talented author.

I have always found MC series kind of hit or miss. I am always on the lookout for a new MC book and I thought I'd give this one a try. I enjoyed some aspects of the story. I specifically liked that both Krista and Jakob were ex-military. Overall, I liked both of the characters. I also found Krista's Gran entertaining.

I personally felt like the book was rushed. From beginning to end it was over in the blink of an eye. While I often enjoy love at first sight type of books, I expect the relationship to take over a longer period of time. I found this aspect of the book very off-putting. I would try this author's books again, but I just wish it had not felt so rushed to finish.

I was provided an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

A fun mc romance with a strong plot and really likeable characters! I loved the inclusion of the grandma, it gave it something extra, something wholesome!

I felt like the writing style was decent, it isn't the most incredible lyrical writing but that isn't what we're interested in with this type of book. I had a good time with it and that is what counts!

Absolutely loved this book. Strong believeable characters that kept me interested in this book the whole way through.

Krista and Jakob are explosive together and it is refreshing in an MC book that Jakob is not over the top when Krista has a different opinion and trusts her instincts. His love of family and dedication to his Club, without going all crazy, also sets this book apart from many other MC books I have read.

Just the right amount of violence and steam that it doesn't turn you off. Definitely a book I could re-read.

5* for me and fabulous editing which just made me like it even more.

Thanks to Netgalley and Navessa Allen for the opportunity to read and review this book and give an honest opinion.

I feel like this should have been the second book in the series. When I first started and throughout the book, I found myself very confused about what was happening. Also, I feel like not a lot of explaining was done about what the drama was in Kearny.
Biker romances are one of my favorite books to read. Normally I do not like ex-military but it wasn't too much that it took over the story. Krista and Jakob are a very unlikely couple but somehow they work well with one another.
Another great thing about this book was that there were so many hot scenes and they definitely did not disappoint

Krista has lusted after Jacob (bad boy biker dude) from afar.
Now with her Gran (my favourite character) in trouble. They’ll have to work together to stop the real bad boys.
I really don’t like it when authors repeat the same descriptions. Unfortunately, this happens here and it was really off-putting for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Defiantly a fun read. Characters were well written. Some descriptive words were over used, but its easy to look over. Was action packed and had steam. If you want a more romantic version of Sons of Anarchy this is for you.

Another first time with this author and I was pleasantly surprised and was able to get wrapped up into the story.

I read a lot of MC stories and most all demand that they are called club and they are not a gang. So I have to admit because of that at times it was off pudding when it kept calling the club a gang. But I guess each author and MC are different.

I thought Krista was a strong character and I liked her. Though her grandma may be my favorite character of the story.

Jakob was another strong character and his story was interesting with the legacy of the MC and how he was part of a different MC.

The side mystery was done well. The layers of complexity were good. But there were times I didn't quite believe or had to eye roll. Though in the end I was able to get lost in the story. I will definitely try this author again.

This seemed a very quick read I thought it’d be longer, not a criticism I’d just like more. .
This was an enjoyable read, nice characters but a bit slow at certain parts (even though feels short) But I’d definitely be back for more

The Kings of Kearny had mystery and drama that was surprising, but also exciting. Since I picked this book prinalrun based off how hot the cover model was, I didn’t know one hundred percent what I was getting into 😍
🖤
Jakob is the kinda man your mama warned you about 🥵 His reputation is to give women a night or two to remember but as an Enforcer in the Kings MC, he has no plans to take an “old lady”. When he and Krista get involved for a single night, the plan was always to keep each other at arms length and just handle business. But as they spend more time together trying to get to the bottom of what’s happening in their town and Krista becomes a target for the rival MC they get pushed together.
🖤
I liked that this MC story wasn’t as dark as I was expecting it, but it wasn’t light and flowery either. The steaminess between Jakob and Krista is 14/10! I love Krista’s Grandma who is fiery and makes no apologies for it. Right about halfway through the book I couldn’t put it down. The drama level gets cranked up and I wanted to finish so I could discover who-done it and find out if Jakob and Krista get a HEA. Jakob and Kristas back and forth of passion and frustration was just the perfect amount - believable and authentic and not over the top/annoying.

This is exactly what I expected from this book. I requested it because I saw the cover and read the synopsis and got flashbacks from Sons of Anarchy (which is a show I LOVE).

It's quick, it's fun, and it's the perfect summer read.

This was a pretty quick read for me and it was very typical of the genre.
Krista works at a biker bar and has been crushing on Jakob for a long time. When she finds out there is a possible plot to steal and sell the drugs from her Grandma's retirement home, she and Jakob team up to put a stop to it. This was a pretty enjoyable read, but a bit boring during certain parts.

Krista just wants what is best for her Gran. Gran raised her and gave her a loving home, so they move all the way to Kearny for the best memory care facility in the state. She gets a job at the local biker bar, has a nice apartment not far, and everything is great. Jakob is a big, menacing bear of a guy who ,Amy stay clear. When he decides to let her know that all isn’t what it seems at the memory care place, he uncovers a drug ring that could possibly get everyone killed. Krista doesn’t trust people, can she trust this biker guy who doesn’t seem to give her all the details? They are both ex military, so she knows she can handle him, but can she trust him?

🌸Book Review🌸 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Or should I say 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥 “he was six feet of sin draped in darkness”
🔥 “he projected an aura of something barely contained and half-feral”
🔥 “Him big. Make strong babies. Protect cave.”
🔥 “I was in way over my head with all these devious motherfuckers”
🔥 “she was six feet of sin draped in darkness”

“Jakob Larson is going to be the death of me.”SAME GIRL. Same. Wooohooooohooooo this one gave me all of the Sons of Anarchy vibes 🏍, complete with hot as hell bikers and rival gangs and drug wars and…did I mention hot as hell bikers? 😁

Jakob is the Jax Teller of the MC book world. He is sexy as 🅵🆄🅲🅺 (I mean, from what I’m imagining 🙃) with just enough bad ass in him to make him the hottest version of dangerous. I haven’t read a good romance like this since I found the Black Dagger Brotherhood vampire series eons ago. This book has everything! Bad ass ex special ops women. Spunky hilarious grandmothers. Seedy biker bars. A hot and heavy romance 🥵. But underneath there is love and loyalty and forgiveness. Fabulous man. Just fabulous.

I loved loved this book. Out of everything what I loved most was that this couple actually communicated and acted human. When they screwed up they apologized and moved on. The H & h actually seemed to like then live each other and was self aware about who they truly were on the inside. It’s very rare to get that in books today. The only thing I wish is that we could have had alternate POVs between Viking & Skywalker (I know that’s not the name they go by but I just loved those nicknames).

The Kings of Kearny is a unique motorcycle club romance. Whilst the Kings of Kearny is made up of former military personnel, members are both male and female, and they don’t exactly follow the letter of the law.
This title is full of drama, mystery, intrigue, and danger, and is sure to keep you engaged from beginning to end.
The heroine Krista works in a bar owned by the club, she’s strong, resilient, sassy, stubborn and driven. Not to mention a wounded veteran herself who suffers from chronic pain.
Jakob is an enigmatic, stoic, and brooding hero and the enforcer for the Kings of Kearny.
This pair have their fair share of faults, which makes them more realistic and relatable. The connection between them is undeniable, but under the intense sexual chemistry is a lot of anger, jealousy, and manipulation, and I was intrigued with how they maneuvered around each other.
Although my first-time reading Vanessa Allen’s work, I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

This was such a different kind of MC book, what a steamy, action packed story! I've read a lot of MC books, and this one had a very different feel to it. Despite being set in the MC world, the focus was really not the MC although they were present in all aspects of the story.

Krista works in a bar, whose owner is long-time member of a veterans based MC. Krista, a veteran herself, has no interest in joining the MC, but has an interest in Jakob, their chief enforcer. Krista's grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's and is living in a facility that Jakob suspects is running drugs, which is a problem for his MC.

Very quickly Krista becomes embroiled in this situation with Jakob and the action starts up almost immediately and doesn't let up until the end. Of all the MC books I've read, despite the mayhem and illegal activities that make so many of these books over the top, this felt as though it could be real. Jakob and Krista both have their vulnerabilities and issues that they need to work through and these are not romanticized or glossed over in any way. I especially loved that Krista was a strong individual and didn't need to just rely on Jakob to get herself out of difficult situations. I'm definitely planning to seek out more books by Navessa Allen!
