I was attracted to this book when I saw the instagram story on a bookstagrammer's page about the author's dedication of this book.Swipe to see it,because that told me that I HAD TO READ THIS BOOK❤️😂
A romance with mystery & thriller?Gimme any day!
In the small town of Kearny, where the motorcycle club 'Kings',was all that cared for the good and development of the townsfolk, people accepted their bullshit even if they were gangsters,a subchapter of the 'Specters',a national motorcycle club. All the members are ex-military and I loved that the men and women were equally ferocious🔥Krista Evans,an ex-mil herself, now a barmaid whose main intention here is to care for her Gran with Alzheimer's is caught up in something shady that could be brewing in Magnolia Hills, the 'safest' place for her Gran🤦‍♀️😱Enter Jakob,a tattooed, sexy, scowling member of the Kings and will Krista be able to help herself?🥵🔥💃Will she be able to find out the threat to her Gran and come out unscathed?

Caveman and cavewoman alert🦧

I loved that the protagonist wasn't a glamorous, perfect, freshly out of the salon beauty who was also a damsel in distress...No,no,no,no,NO...she was a damsel who caused distress💪🦿
She was an independent, ferocious, come near me and see if you live to tell kind of a woman and I loved that about her.

The language was good and the story was not an ordinary one. What I loved most was that the male protagonist wasn't afraid to apologise when he was wrong🥳
Both had their moments but it was a fast read which I finished in less than 36hours❤️

Sensitive issues are dealt with well and women being able to handle themselves on their own, thank you very much meaty muscular men! The scientific elements of the drugs for Alzheimer's used and the pharmacological aspects used were interesting to me because, well it's one of my subjects this year😂

On the whole,I loved it and would recommend to anyone who wants a unique romance with lots of gender equality reinforcement.

Navessa Allen has done the impossible... made me love a motorcycle romance!

One thing I often struggle with when it comes to this particular trope in romance is the utter repetitiveness and amount of Sons of Anarchy knock-offs that saturate the genre. Not so with The Kings of Kearney! Navessa Allen has such a refreshing plot with unique and charismatic characters that leap off the page.

The Kings of Kearney is a motorcycle club exclusive to military veterans, which is why they have such goodwill in the town despite their illegal activities. Krista, also a veteran, recently put down roots in their town after researching the best nursing home for her grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer's.

After a night of bartending at the Kings of Kearney watering hole, Krista is surprised when Jakob Larson, the incredibly sexy MC's Enforcer, flags her down. Before she knows it, Krista is caught up in MC politics involving her grandmother's nursing home, club wars, and a revenge plot that has fists flying.

I loved the easy chemistry between Jakob and Krista. Their physical connection was palpable from their first kiss and the gradual earning of trust was beautifully written. Krista might be one of my favorite heroines I've read this year. She was capable, smart, and quick on her feet!

Can't wait to read more from Navessa Allen, and hopefully more about this particular MC!

First of all, let me preface that I turn into an absolute puddle of goo over Jax Teller, so this was pretty much tailor-made for me.

Pros:
-chronic pain was dealt with in a legitimate way
-Gran's diagnosis (however, she's mid-sixties, so wouldn't it be early onset?)
-plot wasn't super gimmicky, and neither was the romance for the most part!
-good writing for a modern romance!

Cons:
-Krista was strong-willed for a lot of the book, and then started acting like one of the silly heroines towards the end
-the wrap up of the book felt a bit odd?
-I wanted to slap Jax

Overall, the fact that my list of negatives is so short tells you that this is a genuinely decent motorcycle club book! I'm scarred by some awful writing, so I'm overall pretty pleased with this one! Thanks, Netgalley!

I'm not big into biker romances, and yes I've read my fair share of them. I went into this story thinking I was going to get bored pretty quickly, however it was the complete opposite and I was drawn into the story. The FWB to dating to in love scenes were a bit eye rolling at times but I did enjoy what I've read here.

This biker romance is better than most of I have read of this subgenre - the issues of consent and women's independence were handled well. The plot was complex, the suspense kept going strong till the very end. The romance was solid with great sexual chemistry. I appreciate the disability rep as well. In the end though, I couldn't get past the illegal aspect of bikers. I realise it's fiction and doesn't have to be true to real life but it still bothered me so much so that I think I will be staying away from biker romances from now on.

First, I want to thank Netgalley, the publisher, & Navessa Allen for allowing me to read and review this book before pub date. We all know it’s no secret (or maybe it is if you don’t know yet) that I’m obsessed with Sons Of Anarchy. So when I saw there was a SOA type book, I jumped right on it. And it did NOT disappoint AT ALL.

The Kings of Kearny run a small town in Texas and Jakob Larson is their leader. And he’s caught every woman’s eye, especially Krista’s. Someone has been bringing drugs into town and Jakob thinks it’s effecting the nursing home that Krista’s grandmother is currently in. Working together, sometimes reluctantly, the two try to figure out who is breaking the town’s cardinal rule. And when you’re dealing with a motorcycle gang, it’s bound to get ugly.

Reading this one made me feel like I was watching an episode of SOA. The action was jam packed, the suspense was there, and HELLOOOO Jakob. Oh and the steam level, on fire! Krista’s character was totally my spirit animal. I love a good, strong, take no shit, female character who’s also stubborn as anything. And their dynamic together was steamy, but also hilarious. Their one liners to one another had me laughing throughout the book. I loved this one and am recommending it to everyone, especially my fellow SOA fans.

Check out The Kings of Kearny out 6/15!

This was my first read from this author and I loved it! I will definitely be seeking out more.

I really enjoyed Krista and Jakob’s story. It wasn’t your average MC read. There were plenty of subplots and twists to keep things interesting. It was also a surprisingly emotional read that had me hooked.

This was my first read by Navessa and I can honestly say, I will read more of her work!

This is Jakob and Krista's story....
Jakob is the quiet yet deadly enforcer of the MC, he's dark, deadly, dangerous...and pure alpha hotness!
Krista is quite new to town, works in the local biker bar and her nan is in the town's nursing home. (I loved their relationship!!)
When Krista finds out there may be some things going on behind the scenes that aren't safe in the home, and that Jakob can help, then she'll do all she can to fix it!
There are twists and turns, people aren't what they seem, they're unsure of who to trust and what exactly can they do without putting their own lives and innocent people's lives in danger....

I enjoyed their chemistry, it's not all hearts and flowers, they like to role each other but I liked that! There's definitely room for a series and I hope Navessa gives us one!

*I voluntarily received an arc from the author through Netgalley and this is my honest review

I really enjoy biker romance novels. However, they can become quite cookie cutter at times. That is not the case with The Kings of Kearny. I was happy to see the military aspect to the characters in the book and I loved that the h was a strong woman. She was no damsel in distress and the H did not treat her as one. There is a mystery element to the story. Krista and Jacob work together to find out who is selling drugs stolen from Krista’s grandmother’s nursing home. The H and h have great communication during disagreements, which is almost unheard of in MC books. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but overall it was a fun read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing that caught my eye was the cover and when I read the blurb, I knew this book was for me and I was not disappointed. This is my first book by Navessa Allen and Jakob and Krista were a breath of fresh air. I loved the fact that the plot had many layers to it and the banter between all the characters was amazing. I couldn't put this book down. I honestly hope there will be more books because I honestly can't get enough.

Well, this was a pleasant surprise. After having recently re-watched some Sons Of Anarchy episodes I saw this book and thought, why not? I haven’t had the best experience with biker romance stories, but after reading the synopsis I thought I’d give it a try. I was not disappointed.

While this book did introduce some gritty aspects of biker culture, it also had a good plot. There was a mystery to be solved. Krista agrees to help Jakob get in to her grandma’s care facility to see who is stealing prescriptions from the residents and selling them on the streets.

The chemistry between the two was great and the sex scenes were spicy. But the maturity and consent were what did it for me. After Krista handed Jakob his ass when he grabbed her without her consent, he made sure that she knew she had to give him the green light for anything to happen. That coupled with the fact that they actually communicated when they were pissed off and resolved their issues...refreshing and sexy as hell.

The characters were great, the plot was good, and the writing style was a little sassy and easy to read. The only real problem I had was with the ending. It wrapped things up well, but it seemed a little anti-climatic. There was a build up through the whole book and I felt a little let down with how it ended. But overall it was a fun and quick read. I give it 3.5 stars.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for releasing this ARC to me in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good pool read, quick and dirty. It could have been flushed out a little more, as far as the mystery but overall it was enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book, it was definitely different to the usual MC book. I really enjoyed the characters, there was strong chemistry between the main characters. The twists and turns made it hard to put down. A great read!

I enjoyed this intriguing motorcycle club romance. It is not typical in that not much time is spent with the club but a lot of time is involved with the politics of it. Jakob is an intelligent veteran club officer who is a good match for Krista, a veteran bartender at a club bar. They work together when her grandmother is at risk due to drug dealing happening with involvement of her assisted living facility. This is a fast paced book with plenty of searing passion.

Jakob Larson is a member of The Kings of Kearny MC. A hot, broody and sexy member.
Krista works as a waiter at Charley's Bar, where the whole MC usually spends their time in. Their attraction is off the charts but both of them have baggage.
What it's supposed to be a one night stand, get complicated when someone begins to mess with the retirement house in the city . It's in The King's territory, so they will do anything to protect it. And Krista's gran is there. And she will do the same.
The story is fast, full of events that won't let you get bored. And the chemistry between the characters is fantastic.

This was one of the most intriguing mc romances that I have read in long time. Plus that ending was just everything! The story is about a girl named Krista who moves to the town of Kearny with her grandmother as a way of starting over her life after being discharged from the Air Force. But that quiet life that she was seeking is quickly ended when she starts a relationship with Jakob, a member of the local mc. She quickly finds out that not everything is what it seems and the town of Kearny may not be as safe as she thought.

*Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

This book was so unexpected and it got me so excited.

An MC full of war heroes. Wounded female heroine. Sexy as hell male biker..... I was salivating over this story. I really enjoyed how competent both characters were how much there connection had been building.

I have never read anything by this author before but the world building and the depth of character made me feel like there was so much below the surface. I want more books in this world RIGHT NOW!

I loved the hidden depth of Jakob and the dichotomy of him being a former soldier and now working outside the law. He is a bit tortured but a lot sexy and he wants to keep his town in line.

Krista is also a Veteran working at a bar and her and Jakob have been eyeing each other up for weeks. When they finally come together it is so explosive and sexy and I just couldn't get enough.

They both just felt so REAL! They had faults and attributes that were annoying and they would sometimes fly off the handle. But nothing was left to fester and it all just felt very mature! Which was such a breath of fresh air. I feel like so many romances these days get out of hand with the miscommunication. Even when there were cases of that, they were handled quickly and trust was built from there.

I also loved the consent that was written into this book. Even in the heat of a sexual encounter, Jakob reminds Krista that she is in control and she can revoke that permission at any time... ugh! That stuff gets me so HOT!

Over all this book was a great surprise and I am already looking into other books by this author.

4.5 out of 5 stars from me. Rounded to a 5!

I am taking a little break from this book - I was immediately captured by the writing style and the dialogue, excited to find an author & story that was fast paced and witty, with bikers and grandparents and sassy heroines! Whoop! - but almost as immediately overwhelmed by the military/weaponry angle that took over the plot. Only because I personally am not into that at all. Since the blurb on Goodreads didn't mention any of that, I am wondering if maybe it's not as big a part of the story as this particular part I'm stuck in would lead me to believe? hopefully? so I'll let it rest a bit, try skipping forward, and see how that goes. As it sits now, I feel overwhelmed by a sub-genre I was actively not looking for.

What an amazing read! There was everything you might enjoy in a book within these pages, drama, humor, intrigue, snarkiness, suspense, and hot steamy sexy romance! It was an entertaining plot that made me stop and think about what I would do in Krista's place. Highly recommended for people who enjoy a good story with a strong female protagonist and a sexy alpha-hole to boot, along with a pot smoking granny!

I've read a handful of romance books featuring motorcycle clubs, so I was hesitant to read one more, but I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed The Kings of Kearny.

It was way more than I thought (I had no real expectations going into it), and now I would love to read anything else that Navessa Allen has!
