This book wasn't what I thought it would be, but it was everything that I need it to be. What a glorious, wholesome biker romance.

Writing style: Allen doesn't have a special writing style or whatever, but I did really like it. It was a little on the wordy side sometimes, but then again, I would describe that tall glass of water for two whole pages as well.

Characters: There's wasn't necessarily anything special about the characters, but I liked them. They were real people, with real feelings and real problems. And their chemistry was top notch.

Story: I was expecting a darker sort of romance with a gruelling plot line, and instead I got a wholesome, still plenty suspenseful, biker romance. The story was a very nice read and it hooked me from the very first page.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely could've been spiced up a little more or the plottwists could have been a little more WOW, but I enjoyed myself immensely so I'm giving it three and a half stars!

This book has a little bit of everything I enjoy in a book, romance, action and a mystery. I love reading Motorcycle Club books and I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s fast paced and kept me saying “one more chapter”. This was the first book I’ve read by Navessa Allen and I’m going to be checking out her other books.

The main characters Krista and Jakob meet and end up investigating the same thing. They begin to investigate things going on at Krista’s grandma's nursing home. Krista’s grandma is such a hoot, I love her.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me thief digital Arc. I enjoyed this book a lot!

I really enjoyed this book, it was totally different than what I'm used to reading, so I read it in one sitting! I couldn't put it down!

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC. I loved this book. It was a a hint of MC with more of a romance/action story. Yes they were from an MC but that didnt really have THAT much to do with the storyline. And i enjoyed that. I was more into the romance and the action anyways. I loved that the main male character saw the "physical flaws" the female had and accepted them with no hesitation, it didnt phase him one bit and even though she was a tad bit insecure he immediately let her know it was no big deal to him. I loved that and their smart-assness with each other.

This book was a lovely mix of both mystery/plot and romance. The author also somehow made me enjoy a couple who got together first at the beginning of the book. The way the book combined the mix of plot and the couple being angry was so well done. Overall this book was a just the right mixture and kept me intrigued the whole book.

This book is an action packed, fast paced romance book. The story follows Krista and Jakob who through circumstances end up investigating the odd goings on at the nursing home that Krista’s nan is a resident of. I enjoyed storyline finding it interesting and fresh. This book is highly addictive and once you’ve started you’ll not want to put it down. The characters are well rounded and I’d love to go to Kearny to meet the strong willed Krista and her nan.

I’m looking forward to reading more of Navessa Allen’s writing.

Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.

I instantly liked this book. As a first time reader of Navessa Allen and the beginning of a new series, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. I fell in love with Navessa’s writing, her characters were well developed along with the storyline. Jakob is “the to die for” biker in this story and Krista is the one who, although proved she can hold her own, needs Jakob’s help. The bikers in this series are all veterans and a mixture of men and women. With a few twists in Jakob and Krista’s story, this turned out to be a top read for me this year.

WOW WOW WOW. I loved this. LOVED THIS!! Usually, I split my reviews into the things I liked and the things I didn't like... but I can't do that with this because I genuinely can't think of anything bad about this book.
The writing - I have read Snowed In by Navessa Allen before so I already knew going into this that I was going to adore the writing style. This did not disappoint. I loved it, so beautifully written.
The plot - This book was hella dramatic!! In the best way! I adored every second, the two plots intertwined so well and I was gripped and intrigued every second. I struggled to put it down.
The characters - This is where this book really blew me away. I fell in love with Krista. She is easily one of the most badass female main characters I have ever read. I adored her. I loved her stubbornness and her drive and motivations. Her backstory was awesome! Her commitment to family was so adorable. And her internal thoughts were so funny and reminded me a lot of myself which was both a little worrying and also very awesome. She was beyond badass - she was so empowering to read and I adored it. I also loved that she was a chronic pain sufferer but also still awesome and not timid. Genuinely one of the best protagonists I have read from in ages.
I also loved Jakob. He was awesome. I loved his silent, broody, which could definitely kill your vibe. He is so not my typical book boy but sign me up for more of him pleaaasee.
I actually adored all of the secondary characters too - especially the women, because I swear this book only had amazing and empowering female characters, even the ones with small parts.
The pacing - The pacing was something else that was just amazing about this book. There was content from start to end. And I mean right to the end. Things were still happening on the final page. I've seen a few people not like that much because it is a little dramatic and abrupt but I think it works so well for what we know of these characters and I wouldn't have ended it any other way.
The humor - Again, similar to the writing style - I knew Navassa Allen's humor would have me in stitches and she delivered. I laughed a lot. I loved Jakob's humor and how he irritated Krista. Their banter was perfection.
The romance - this was another perfect aspect of the book to me. It felt so real. Their actions as a couple were so accurate and believable. The pacing and the choices they made based on where they were in their relationship was just so good and I loved how it ended for them and how their story felt complete but still had a future if that makes any sense. It was just such an accurate and lifelike progression of a couple and I love it when authors make romances believable. Plus the spice...was hella spicy!!

So yeah, I really cannot recommend this enough. I will be shouting about this one from the rooftops for a while!

This is definitely a different kind of motorcycle club book. For one thing - both men and women can belong to the club (which is definitely not something typically represented in books in the subgenre). The book also doesn't revolve around a tightly knit brotherhood or show a high level of misogyny like many do. All of the members of the MC are ex-military - and the author's explanations about this make so much freaking sense. In this book Jakob is in the upper level of the Kings - the MC he belongs to. He is the son of two high ranking (and founding) members of the parent club). He is also ex-military and clearly was special operations.

Krista has moved to Kearny because it has a great nursing facility for her grandmother who suffers from early onset Alzheimer's. She is working in a Kings bar as a bartender to support her grandmother. She is ex-military and has significant injuries she is still recovering from. She and Jakob have been circling around each other since she started her job - until one night Jakob mentions that something isn't right at the facility where Krista's grandmother is. From that point forward there is a lot of action to sort that out - plus sort our Jakob's dad.

It is definitely a sexy, wild ride. The book is also clear on where things fall on the morality side of the MC. It is definitely a book that challenges your acceptance of the grey zones that MCs inhabit. I will say - I didn't adore the epilogue - <spoiler> I guess my acceptance of the grey blinked out with the Dexter like ending. </spoiler>

Overall - if you like MC books - I'd recommend this one!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

The Kings of Kearny is the second novel I've read of Navessa Allen and it just solidifies what a huge fan I am of her work. I just stalked her website for other things of her I can read and I'm always looking for what she's reading on Goodreads because she's always got interesting things to say in her reviews; I appreciate her honesty and criticisms, and when she really likes something, I know I'm probably going to like it too.

The Kings of Kearny popped up on NetGalley and it was an automatic request (beg) for me because I knew I couldn't wait to see what new world she created. I wasn't disappointed. In this novel we get plunged into the MC world of the Kings, featuring Jakob as our scowling, smoldering alpha male and Krista, our smart and smoldering and equally alpha female. These two are fire. A smoke show. Chemistry. You picking up what I'm throwing down? So obviously, it's a really sexy novel. But it wasn't just that for me. I enjoyed the intrigue of what was happening between the various clubs and who was behind what was happening at the nursing home facility. I also enjoyed the military connections to the club and how all of that worked. But I think I really just enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching them fall for each other. The sex positivity, the way Krista handles a potentially ugly situation with two women she meets, the family interactions, and how smoothly this was all integrated has me eager for more of Navessa Allen's novels. My only quibble was how much Krista would talk herself into circles trying to figure out who was behind who--making herself crazy and me a little too. But if anything, her being so suspicious and paranoid made her even more real.

If you're looking for a MC read that is sexy and romantic and intriguing, with a very satisfactory ending and completely stands alone, The Kings of Kearny is the book for you. I'm hoping that there may be more to come with these characters because I loved reading about these characters but even if there's not, I'm all for whatever Navessa Allen writes next.

I have never read a motorcycle romance because I honestly didn't think they would be my thing but as I have been loving more romantic suspense this year I thought I would give it a try. And I am so glad I did as this book has got me hooked on them! I could not put this book down, it was a fantastic steamy romance with all the drama. I read the entire book in one sitting and it was one of the most enjoyable books I have read so far in 2021.

I loved both of our main characters and it made sense to only have one POV based on the plot but I loved that we got an epilogue from his perspective and it was a perfect and fun epilogue at that! I loved how Krista was such a strong woman and didn't take any crap and trusted her gut regardless of the consequences. She has chronic pain and in the first chapter there is a mention of child abuse so trigger warning for that. Her Gran was one of my favourite side characters in the book, she added some laughter to a darker book. She has Alzheimers and I liked how it was handled in this. I liked how Jakob was so moody but really protective of Krista and had liked her from even before the book started. They have such great chemistry and you can feel it right from the start.

I really hope this is the start of a series because I need more!

I picked this book up based solely on the fact that I am in my motorcycle club phase right now. Biker's just do it for me. However, this story is more of a suspenseful mystery novel than anything else. Yes, there's two clubs that are trying to vie for territory, and they are supported by two more clubs. If you didn't know that though, this story could be any small town with shady people doing shady things. I enjoyed it as a mystery novel that happened to contain biker clubs. It's just not a motorcycle club style book.

I think one of the really big pluses of this book is Krista. A wounded veteran, she finds herself starting over as a bartender in a biker bar. However, when Jakob puts the idea into her head that someone is switching out drugs at the nursing home, she's not one to back down. The best part about Krista is that she doesn't panic. She's very logical in her thought process, and it's a nice change of pace. I was quite shocked how some of the twists that are unwound come from Krista's thought process. She's also not afraid to throw down to protect herself. Definitely not a damsel in distress looking to be saved. Krista is clearly written as a strong women and doesn't disappoint.

Gran steals every scene that she's in. She's a hoot and has the best one-liners. I died laughing when there was a little something extra found in her blood work. Now, if only she'd get a short novella to see what trouble she's causing in the nursing home, that would make everything complete.

The only thing that I was disappointed in is that there wasn't the camaraderie that is normally seen between club members. I am not sure if this series would be able to continue as there are less than 10 characters who are named.

ARC received for review

It had great potential, but then kinda fizzled out. Her trying to figure out who the ultimate bad guy was just made me dizzy, dizzy, dizzy. Jakob hid stuff from her and then got mad when she did the same. That wasn't an epilogue that was the last chapter. We aren't really introduce to any other single MC members except for the psycho president.

Hot and sexy book, but lots of back and forth and a ton of intrigue.

Krista was a tough heroine and fun to read. Jakob was hot, but he should have been a little more forthcoming.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me with a copy of this book. I am a sucker for MC books and this sounded really good.. and bonus.. this is a new to me author so.. there is that.

This book follows Krista Evans and Jakob Larson. Jakob is the Enforcer of the Kings of Kearny MC. Krista is a new to town and just landed a job as a bartender at Charley's Bar and Grill that the MC frequents. With both charaters being of Military background they both know how to hold there own.. but of course Jakob being Mr Alpha he thinks he needs to be there to save her.. but he finds out just how she can handle herself when a incident at her Grans place leaves (not her) on the ground and wounded...

I loved that in this book the MC allowed both Male and Female in.. it was a nice touch..

I really enjoyed this book.. and I would love to see more from this author.

I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a series! I loved this book. Lots of action. And incredible chemistry between Krista and Jakob. I loved that they were wonderfully imperfect. They made mistakes but they worked through them and were stronger because of it. I saw EPILOGUE and just about freaked thinking this was a cliffhanger, but no. The story wrapped up beautifully. I just want MORE!

I am a very big fan of MC and am always looking for the next great MC read. I was so hoping this was going to be it but sadly this fell a little flat. I was a bit put off right from the start, the author seemed to have this need to use words that really had no place in the MC world when describing Jakob's appearance. The characters I never could connect 100%b with. Krista was not incredibly loveable except with her Grandmother. I mean, I get that she had just met Jakob, but he was so stiff and was a man of little words, but it made him seem so off-putting. They truly should have been a one-night stand at least that would explain the lack of chemistry. The drama seemed mild at best and I kept waiting on it to develop and sadly it didn't. It was almost there and I thought it was going that way and then it would just be over and done with it.
I liked the epilogue it had more emotion than the entire book. Gran was the best character followed closely by Jennifer. This will find the right audience and I am happy for the author.

I wanted to like this one and for the most part, I did. There was something that just stopped me from really connecting with the characters though. Although there is plenty of chemistry between Krista and Jakob, there was just something about them that didn't do it for me.
Krista is a strong female character, which I usually love. She has a lot to deal with, her family have been a complete waste of space for most of her life with the exception of her Gran. For me, Gran was the best character in the book and I really enjoyed the scenes with her in. I think that her Alzheimer's was dealt with well and the way that this horrible illness was covered in the book was very good.
I did get a bit confused about when it was all set, which probably didn't help. At one point Krista mentions some of the things she did when in the military and talks about he USSR, which hasn't been around for the last 30 years. Later on, she's using a mobile phone, I couldn't decide if the book was supposed to be contemporary or early.
All in all, it was a good read and I would be interested to read more from these characters. It does feel as though there is more to come. I wonder if I might find them easier to connect with in another book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

3.5 Stars!

The Kings of Kearny is a fun and entertaining read that is sure to entertain readers right until the very end…

The Kings of Kearny follows the story of Krista and Jakob. Krista is new in town and is working at a bar owned by the kings. All Krista wants to do is work hard, keep her head down, and keep on an eye on her grandmother. Unfortunately for Krista, when Jakob gets wind of a potential drug operation at the nursing home that Krista’s grandmother resides in, Krista’s whole world is about to be turned upside down.

Overall, I thought this book was an enjoyable read. I love discovering new authors and have a weakness when it comes to biker romances, so I couldn’t resist giving this one a try. I thought the plot of this book was exciting and refreshing. I liked how the kings were all ex-military and how they looked out for one another. They were totally bada$$ in every way that mattered. I really dug Krista. She was feisty and an unbelievably strong character. I liked that she wasn’t afraid to take care of herself, and didn’t need a man to save her. Poor Jakob had his work cut out for him with Krista. She gave him a run for his money and wasn’t afraid to take him on. Jakob may have had alpha tendencies, but he definitely knew when to give Krista her space and handle herself.

If I had one complaint about this story, it’s that I felt it was rushed in quite a few places. There is so much going on in this book and so many moments or people touched on. I wished that certain moments had been delved in deeper and fleshed out more, especially when the other biker gang came in to play. Some moments felt like more of an afterthought. Now, I don’t know if maybe it was done on purpose. I’m not sure if there will be another book to follow up this one, but it felt to me like there some unfinished business.

The Kings of Kearny ticked off most of my boxes when it comes to MC Romance. This book had insta-love and great banter. It had some action-packed moments and a quiet intensity to it. While I did have some issues with this story I think this author has a lot of great potential and I’m looking forward to checking out more from her in the future. All in all, The Kings of Kearny is an easy read and I had a lot of fun getting to know these characters.

To Whom This May Concern:

I would first like to say that this is a standalone book from Navessa Allen. Also, this is the first time I am a reading a product of Navessa Allen.

The couple in this book is Krista Evans and Jakob Larson. Jacob is considered the enforcer of the local motorcycle club, while Krista is the bartender at the bar that the motorcycle club frequents. I would say that the dynamic between Krista and Jakob was witty and endearing. Both of the main characters did time in the military and the author wrote their faults so well that their fictional problems could be realistic to somebody. There was jealousy, manipulation, and a little sparkle in this couple that captured the reader’s heart. For example, Jakob always consider Krista’s pain was charming and unexpected from the “ice” that he exudes.

The plot line of the story was action packed with a lot of dialogue and some curse words spring here and there. It is not a descriptive book in the sense that there is a lot of introspection of the main character. The reader is not constantly just in Krista’s mind. This is my first time reading about a couple that is involved with a motorcycle club. The Kings of Kearny and The Jokers are the two main motorcycle clubs in the book. The two motorcycle clubs are rival, but nothing was explained on why they were rivals. I felt like that was a plot hole that could’ve been addressed. This book was written in a dual point of view. However, Jakob’s point of view includes the epilogue only. The rest of the story is written through Krista’s point of view.

The “romance” scene was steamy. It wasn’t kinky like I have to read this with my eyes half open, but very realistic. For example, the author points out that women don’t want men to jack rabbit into them when they feel they’re about to orgasm but instead want their partners to keep going at the same pace that they are doing. Right on is all I have to say. There was about four sexual romance scenes in total, where the rest of the book was sexually charge banter. All in all, I am satisfied with the quality of romance portrayed between the couple.

The ending of the book was well written and ties everything together. However, it felt rushed compared to how long it took to build into the conclusion. There was a couple plot holes that could’ve made the book better if filled. In my opinion, I felt the ending was not a good portrayal of character involved.

With that being said, I give the book a 4 out of 5.

With thanks.
