I absolutely love Cara Hunter's books and this one does not disappoint! Excellent crime thriller with twists and turns and brilliant characters ! The narration is excellent! look forward to the next one !!!

I actually found this audiobook really hard to follow. Thankfully I was approved the book and the audiobook and the book is much more enjoyable.

There are so many characters, so many plot twists and certain aspects just don't come across well on the audio version like the group text messages, twitter comments and the podcasts. All are really informative on the rumours of the crime but frustrating to listen to a phone vibrate for the group messages then to verbally hear the music fade commands for the podcasts. It just doesn't compute well sadly.

However, the actual story line is great. The plot comes toegther really well. And the writing really emerces you in the characters (more so in the book version).

🎧Audio version with a cast of 3 narrators. They are excellent. I love Lee Ingleby as Adam Fawley. The narration adds tension and suspense increasing the enjoyment of the book and increased my score from the book version.
I read the book awhile back I absolutely love Lee Ingleby narrating so I couldn’t resist listening to the audio too. Adam Fawley’s character is likeable, he loves and is concerned about his heavily pregnant wife. I like his dry wry sense of humour. He is a dedicated detective.
Great that there’s a catch up for people new to the series, or just as a reminder for those familiar with the books.
The book has 2 threads starting with a male Oxford student accusing one of the female uni professors of sexual assault. The beginning of this thread starts off a little tamely but soon ramps up in intensity.
The other main thread evolves around Adam and Alex. Adam’s previous actions comeback to haunt him, as some one is after revenge.
I didn’t find the social media sections add anything to the book, being a bit of a distracting with the lengthy user names. I love the use of the true crime podcast, they are the modern whodunnits.
I love that Adam Fawley talks to the reader directly,that makes the reader feel very included.
There’s some great twists and turns with both threads all very believable.
This is my favourite book of the series that I’ve read. It is only the slightly slow start that holds it back from being 5*. I think I’m probably being overly picky here.
The series is being made into a tv drama I am keeping my fingers crossed that they use Lee Ingleby in the lead role, for me he epitomises Adam Fawley.

A clever plot with some compelling characters so what’s not to love? My first Cara Hunter as far as I can remember but now I want the back story filled out so will be getting the previous books in the series. It’s a stand alone book though but it just tantalises a new reader to want more.

First my thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my early copy of The Whole Truth. I am a huge fan of Cara Hunter's and I have a bit of a crush on Adam Fawley so I was delighted to read the latest in this police drama series.

It was such a pleasant surprise to find The Fawley Files at the beginning of the book which worked so well for me as I read a lot of books and many of them are of the same genre; it was a great little refresher , but would also be helpful to anyone coming across The Whole Truth without prior knowledge of the series.

As ever Cara Hunter weaves two storylines together with an expert touch keeping the reader on their toes the whole time, another triumph!

My only problem was that texts and sketches were not readable, at least on my Kindle, annoying but not too much of nuisance.

I am so excited to read that a television series is planned, I just hope they pick the right person for Adam and don't ruin my little mental dalliance!

Although this is the fifth in the series, I didn't feel lost as I listened to this audiobook as there was a quick recap at the start so that I knew the key characters quickly. I was hooked, a case of sexual assault between a student and their Oxford professor, and then later another case. I enjoyed there being two cases running simultaneously, it felt more realistic than crime novels that only seem to have one crime happening in it. I used to live on Walton Well Road in Oxford, which made some of the details in this book a little too realistic for me, but it was also great that I knew the places being mentioned.

I will definitely be going back to read the others in the series. Great book!

This is the fifth book in the DI Fawley series. I will point out I have read all the previous books and an a fan but in my opinion you can pick any of them up and read as a stand-alone.
This was another gripping installment, take everything you think you know and turn it all on its head and that is where this novel gets good. You can’t rely on preconceived ideas to get to the bottom of this story, plus you have the added suspense of what’s happening around DI Adam Fawley. I’d have no problem recommending this or any of the books in the series.

What a compelling book!
I’m ashamed to say that I’ve previously not read or listened to the DI Adam Fawley series , but this doesn’t detract from this story , and there is a helpful recap of characters at the beginning for someone in my position. The calibre of writing and the characters back stories allows this book to be read/ listened to as a stand-alone .
There are two cases running through the story the first case is one of sexual assault , the accuser is a male student and the alleged perpetrator is a female professor. Who is telling the truth? This adds a he said she said element to the book, and who do you believe? The writing is both intuitive and enthralling.

The other case is an old case involves Gavin Parrie who is dubbed the “ the roadside rapist” and he was convicted and served a prison sentence The original case involved Fawley’s wife Alex.. Parrie is released , and Fawley finds himself a primary suspect in a murder case.

The narratives in this book are excellent , it kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how the true crime podcast was mingled in to the story and the narration is superior in its nature. The characters and story lines kept me engaged until the end , and on reaching the conclusion I felt both a surge of relief and contentment.

I avidly await the next in the series.

A fabulous book! I didn't realise until I'd started listening to this one that it was part of the Adam Fawley series that I'd enjoyed last year. Cara is a very good author, writing interesting stories with lots of side stories and backstories that tie together or help to develop depth of character. This one is no exception: there are so many plot twists!
Adam Fawley and his team investigate a sexual assault that isn't quite what it seems and just as you're thinking that perhaps this book isn't quite as thrilling as the others, an old case returns and the pace ramps up.
