This book didn’t know what it was trying to be. It was extremely predictable. It was very slow paced. This book failed to capture my attention. I was bored in parts.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

An enjoyable escape read, there seems to be a lot of these type of books lately and this one worked well and kept me entertained and wanting to know what happened.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

This was a rollercoaster of a read. You don't know whose telling the truth or whose lying!
Some of the characters were really despicable, I really didn't like them at all. Lots of suspicion, infidelity and you don't know the answers until the end. I loved this book! Perfect read!

I was so excited to read this book as I have heard great things about the author.
I was disappointed.
I found it hard to follow, disjointed and the characters quite confusing. So much so that I nearly did not finish and having ploughed through I am not sure it was the right thing to do.
I have since read another of this author's books (given by friend who recommended I try them !) and was pleased to see that this book was not the strongest and others are fantastic reads.
Maybe just a little too much going on in this one ? feels like the characters lost their way

Even though I did end up buying myself a physical copy of this book, I would still like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with a copy of this book.

Possibly the weakest read from this author. Not the worst book I've ever read, but certainly not up to the standards of this author's other reads. The plot was fine, a group of friends with secrets... who's hiding what? An intriguing premise at first, but the reveal wasn't massively believable, and not all exciting if I'm honest.
I am still, however, looking forward to reading the newest read from this author.

Ok well I did not expect that ending at all! It’s a twisty, turny book that keeps you guessing. There are a lot of characters that I had to get my head around, but it had so much happening, I found it really easy and quick to read.

A thoroughly enjoyable thriller.

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

I really struggled to gather my thoughts for this book! The cover and synopsis leads you to think this is a murder mystery deal but instead this very much focuses on friendships, group dynamics and lies becoming unraveled. I personally really enjoyed this book, it just wasn’t what I was expecting and is definitely more a domestic suspense than a thriller.

This story is told from the POV of Rachel, who is married to Jack, the brother of the groom. We’re introduced to three couples and I normally find it difficult to remember who’s who but all the characters had distinctive personalities and traits. Rachel was a well-written protagonist and I think Jones did a great job of making us feel we were really in her headspace— I definitely felt all Rachel’s anxiety and mistrust in the situation.

The plot is a slow burn for sure — the big event described in the synopsis occurs literally in the last 10% of the book so that’s a huge chunk that is essentially just a lead up. The entire story could have been avoided if the characters just sat down together and COMMUNICATED like adults, which did leave me slightly frustrated. I still absolutely flew through this and really enjoyed it, and don’t want to judge an author off one book so will definitely be trying another!

this had a premise I enjoy and the first 2/3rds were fairly suspenseful, even though the twist was guessable. however the ending let it down - laboured, overly long and not at all believeable.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book

The wedding of the year (as far as these people are concerned) is to take place in Portugal. The trouble it is but for all the wrong reasons! It took a while to get going but the ending seemed hurried, a bit disappointing really. A group of irritants it has to be said with lies and secrets around every corner. It would be quite a good book to take with on holiday - something light and frothy that doesn’t need much concentration.

Rachel & Jack travel to Portugal to attend jack’s brother Will’s wedding. Jack is not too happy about Will’s bride Ali, and also he doesn’t want to travel to attend a wedding. He seems to be very irritated about everything Ali says or does. Rachel notices this and confronts Jack, at this point Jack reveals a secret about Ali.
Noah & Paige, are also part of this wedding – Noah & Rachel were in college together and at some point in time were meant to be together. But that doesn’t happen as Rachel meets Jack and decides to marry him.
As Ali and Will get married, more secrets are revealed and Rachel’s life starts spiraling out of control.
By the end of the whole event, tragedy strikes – and someone in the group will go back home alone
This was an ok read, felt a little dragged about what Ali’s intentions were and I didn’t feel the reveal was too suspenseful as it was staring right in the face all the time.

Really enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to see what had unfolded and how. I didn't expect the incident - very clever! Looking forward to reading more from the author.

A mystery about three couples on a trip to Portugal. The story was a bit predictable, I disliked the characters but enjoyed the Iberian setting. A decent beach read but not for me.

This was a good read with well defined characters. I didn’t particularly like all of them and some of them I changed my mind about during the course of the book. I liked the tight time frame with the majority of the book taking place over one wedding weekend in portugal and with only six main protagonists. I don’t think I’ve read a book by Sandie Jones before but I’ll certainly be looking out for her in the future.

I love books that are set abroad, it makes me feel like I’m with them for one and in this weird covid world that’s absolutely great. I also love a group holiday turned bad kind of trope so this was a perfect read for me.
It gripped me, I felt like I was really getting to know the characters and I genuinely could not guess where it was going to go!
This book is full of drama and suspense and keeps you hooked. Really enjoyed this one!
