Well written with lots of twists and turns. Being Welsh I liked that it was set in Pembrokeshire and Cardiff, it made me feel quite nostalgic (just one small point though- it is Iechyd da not . I would recommend this book.

A well written mystery, engrossing and entertaining. It's the first I read in this series but there's a lot of backstory.
Wonderful descriptions of war, interesting characters, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.

This is part of a series however I hadn't read the others prior to this book and felt it didnt matter as you get the previous background and it could easily be read as a stand alone.

I did enjoy this book, it was a bit different to the standard police procedural but whilst it falls into the 'cosy murder mystery' category i felt it was a bit more gritty. I felt the ending was a bit rushed and didn't fully understand how everything came together.

Overall a good book and I'd read more in the series

An easy to read murder mystery set in Wales. Tyrone Swift travels to Wales to visit his old friend Alan Griffiths but despite their arrangement to meet Afan is missing. When Swift he discovers his friend’s body there are plenty of suspects, particularly in the community as most of the residents have secrets to hide.

This is a delightfully entertaining story for those, like me, who loves to read the darker side.

I’ma fan of Gretta Mulrooney as her writing never fails to hold my interest.

I've read a couple of books in Mulrooney's Tyrone Swift series and a couple in her Siv Drummond series and enjoyed them.

Before becoming a private detective, Swift had been with the Met and also had spent some time in France with Interpol, where he and Afan had become friends. Murder in Pembrokeshire has Swift outside of his usual world in the isolated community in Wales.

Puzzled and concerned that his friend isn't there to meet him as planned, Ty sets off the next day for a walk and discovers Afan's body. Determined to unearth the killer and the motivation, Ty remains at the commune to unravel some of the many secrets members of the small community are keeping that might prove useful in finding Afan's killer.

This isn't my favorite in the series, but I did enjoy it.

I loved the setting of this book. It showed me the beauty of the Welsh countryside. The eco community sounded fantastic (except for the part that there's no wifi :-)) So the brutal murders were even more horrific in that setting.
The protagonist Ty Swift was also well drawn.
A good read, especially if you like to travel via a good book.

When he arrives there is no trace of his friend but he is welcomed by the other inhabitants of the community. The next day Ty discovers his friends body on the nearby costal path. As a private investigator he is determined to find his friends murderer. A very pleasant read.

Good read. Very well written. It was a fast read for me. Finished it a couple of hours. It kept my attention well, and the mystery was well handled. The tension builds and kept the guilty person well under wraps, for a totaly surprise.

Death Of A Friend...
Book eight in the Tyrone Swift series of mysteries finds the Detective off to a remote corner of Wales to stay with old friend, Afan. With Afan nowhere to be found on his arrival, Swift’s search soon turns up his body and a murder investigation ensues. Well crafted and credible characters and an intriguing storyline with a good sense of place make this an enjoyable read and a worthy addition to the series.

Looking forward to spending time with an old friend who he has not spoke to in years Tyrone Swift sets off to join Afan at the isolated rural commune he is living in, upon arriving Tyrone find his friends body evidently stabbed to death

First time reading Gretta Mulrooney. Will not be the last. Very enjoyable reading, kept me guessing until the last.

Although Ty and Afan were close colleagues while at Interpol, over the ensuing years their paths diverged. Ty is now a PI in London and Afan retreated to Tir Melys a small commune on the Welsh coast. When Ty receives an email from Afan inviting him to visit and seeking his advise on a difficulty he is pleased and puzzled. Upon arrival he finds him missing and on an early morning walk discovers his body. Using his investigative skills he , endeavors to find who killed this quiet and peaceful man. I enjoyed the rural setting and the author's description enhanced the imagery. The development of the cast of misfit characters from the commune were realistic although not always likeable. It becomes evident that dark currents ran beneath the surface and many had something to hide and a motive. I had not read this author before although this is the 8th entry. The combination of good setting and characters kept me engaged in the story and I would recommend it and will read this author again.

Really enjoyed this read. Right up my street. Kept me guessing and great twists and turns. Would highly recommend to others.

I do like a private investigator story and this one did not disappoint! There was a superb sense of place in rural Wales, the characters were well drawn and there were plenty of twists and turns. This was a new author to me and the book is part of a series. Based on this story, I am definitely intrigued to go and look into the rest of the series. It might be called a cosy mystery but it certainly wasn't predicatable, there were plenty of plot twists and I did like that there were well hidden, or well placed, clues along the way. Overall a great read and one i would recommend for mystery fans!

After reading Mulrooney’s NEVER CAME HOME, I was eager to pick this one up! If you enjoy crime/police procedurals or PI mysteries, this one’s for you too! PI Ty Swift has planned a short vacation to catch up with his old pal and former investigator Afan Griffith, who now lives in a remote Welsh village. The self-sustaining community is so far removed from civilization, it doesn’t even have phone reception. When Ty arrives in Pembrokeshire and finds Afan missing, he gets a funny feeling about things.

Ty finds Afan’s body the next day, stabbed to death on the coastal path. With the local DI battling injuries and illness, Ty takes the investigation into his own hands. While the small community is advertised as communal and friendly, Ty quickly finds out it is anything but. Everyone is harboring secrets, struggles, and prior relationships they are keeping hidden. Ty digs through it all - while without phone or internet service! - to avenge his friend’s death.

This is part 8 in the Ty Swift series, so I will definitely have to go back to the start!

Murder in Pembrokeshire by Gretta Mulrooney is the eighth book in the Private Investigator Mulrooney Swift, quite generally known as Ty. He is an ex-policeman who turned P.I. Ten years previously he was working at Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France with his wealthy and gregarious colleague and friend, Afun Griffith. They'd never kept in touch after going their separate ways, but out of the blue Ty receives an email from Afun asking Ty to join him in Pembrokeshire for a couple of days .He is now living in a self-sufficient community of smallholders and crafts people, had no local phone signal, no wi-fi and just one landline so the best option is to stay. Ty decides a few days away with an old friend is just what he needs. Ty gets there with no sign of Afun, his house is unlocked and another member of the community tells Ty Afun missed his work that morning. It seems Afun is missing with no sightings of him. The next day Ty finds his friemds body, he has been stabbed to death. Ty wants to stay and find out who murdered his friend. DI.Weber who is still suffering from several injuries enlists Ty to aid with the investigation.
The story is told from Ty's point of view so the reader is able to feel really involved in the investigation with him. A story that is a slow burner but when the secrets start to be revealed it makes you wonder how so few people can hold so many secrets and how desperate do they have to be to keep them?
As always Gretta Mulrooney has written another really excellent Tyrone Swift instalment and manages to bring the twists and reveals at the perfect time to keep the mystery and intrigue levels up. A story that is as good as the first book she wrote, Ty never gets old or boring. An author I definitely recommend.
