This book can be a good resource to use as needed. Much of the book stated why to use certain techniques & cited research on this. I wish it had more application based material.

This wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The title is slightly misleading in that it’s more of a manual than an actual workbook. There are a few worksheets/activities, but not a lot. There were a lot of “this is what this book and each chapter is going to be about” pages to wade through before you are able to get to the meat of the book. That said, it was informative and well written I will be purchasing for our homeschool coop library.

As someone who has anxiety I thought that this was a fabulous book to help parents, educators etc as, there are so many kids who have anxiety. The book is split into sections focusing on different aspects of anxiety and provides worksheets and activities. The Anxiety Workbook will help parents , teaching assistants to understand and address the needs of teens, helping to improve their well-being, help them to take steps to learn to cope with and deal with anxiety and increase their confidence,

Jessica Kingsley Publishers recently released “The Anxiety Workbook for Supporting Teens Who Learn Differently; A Framework and Activities to Build Structural, Sensory, and Social Certainty” and I couldn’t wait to dive in! I expected a true workbook, which honestly, I would have typically pulled out 2-3 pages to use and put on the shelf. However, I was delighted to find this book to be more of a resource book than a true workbook. I will warn the reader that the book is intro heavy but don’t stop at the dense first section or you will miss the practical activities, theoretical framework, and excellently presented research! I was audibly cheering when I read the authors’ direct exploration between the connection between teacher/therapist expectations and a students needs as well as the role bias can play in both learning and instruction! The activities provided are well organized and applicable to multiple settings (ie. homeschool, home, classroom, group therapy, and/or individual intervention). There is so much content that can be used with teens! I truly believe every school counselor, school-based therapist, and school based paraprofessional needs access to this book! At the minimum, “The Anxiety Workbook” will help you to understand and address the needs of students, thereby improving their well-being, confidence, and empowering them to get the most out of their education.

I recommend this book for any parent that has a teen with anxiety. So often people treat anxiety as not a real thing but anxiety messes with a person's life, in this case teens. The activities provide parents with ways to help their teen with their anxiety and how they can learn to work with it.

The Anxiety Workbook for Supporting Teens Who Learn Differently focuses on structural, sensory, and social aspects of anxiety. I struggled with the beginning. As I read the foreword and acknowledgements, I began to wonder if I was every going to get to the first chapter. When I got through the opening section it started describing the chapters and what were in each one. I was beginning to think that I was never going to get to the heart of the workbook. It is obvious that a great deal of research was done and the activities provided are beneficial it may have just been easier for my attention span if the acknowledgements and information was moved to the back. I will definitely be using with my clients. Thank you Clare Ward, James Galpin, Jessica Kingsley Publishers and NetGalley for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

As someone who was diagnosed and lived with ADHD at a young age, I know how hard it can be to deal with the day-to-day requirements of school and life as a teenager. This workbook should be available in all school and public libraries as an aid to help neurodivergent teens who think differently from their peers.

Was expecting more workbook style (worksheets - do get a few), but more of a informational book for students and treachers.

The Anxiety Workbook for Supporting Teens Who Learn Differently
by Clare Ward, James Galpin
a work book that has a strong theoretical base. It breaks down many students problems, and gives some solutions. Looks at the teachers expectations as well as the students needs. It shows how bias can affect learning making some problems with instruction. A lot of research and resources added to each chapter.

I loved this book. As a teacher and counselor, there are many kids who have some form of anxiety, even if you don't realize it. While this is not a "fix it" book to "cure" your child, it is defiantly a book to help work through some common issues they face. The book is split into 3 sections (structural, sensory, and social) which all focus on different aspects of where the anxiety could be coming from and provides worksheets and activities for a multitude of areas. Is it a step-by-step approach to solving your anxiety problems alone? No. But it's a good way to support those around you who might have some struggles.
