I’m glad o didn’t give up on this as it’s a really good book which will make you keep thinking about what you’ve just read for a few days afterwards. It’s not straightforward and it’s not boring. It’s just very clever and you need time set aside to read it so you can think about what is happening as the timeline jumps about a bit. A strong 4/5.

Nadja has been working for Herr Van Hoven for the past 6 years a quietly unassuming girl that works hard but holds dark secrets.

A good book that kept me guessing all the way through.

The characters in this book I couldnt really connect to. I also found that the book tended to be a bit over the top. I liked it but I couldnt really say I loved it.

I was highly looking forward to reading this book as I loved Dear Child, Unfortunately, I really struggled with this book and found the plot muddled, chaotic and confusing.

What a gripping thriller.

This was a very disturbing but good read.

Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish and could not get enough of.

This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good thriller!!
Absolutely loved the characters, the plot, the tension -  impossible to put it down.
Certainly recommended!

I really struggled with this. I kept going back to it but just couldn't get in to it. I read Dear Child which was very good but unfortunately this just didn't do it for me.

I absolutely love Dear Child. It was a great thriller and well written. Howe ee I really struggled with Sleepless.

I’m not sure if the storyline was lost in the translation but in order to too her previous novel maybe too many sub stories were added to this novel.

I had to read several of the starting chapters repeatedly to try to work out whose story I was reading and J still struggled.

I’m sure this would have been a great novel had the confusion not been there but I unfortunately it was a little too disjointed for me to enjoy.

What an amazing book.
I really loved the story, and it was a very original concept.
Psychological thriller genre at its best!

I loved Dear Child so was very excited when I was given the opportunity to read sleepless. I found it difficult to follow the storyline and was a little confused throughout. I felt perhaps it was lost in translation. However the ending tied everything up.

Not a fan of this one. I didn't enjoy the first one by this author but thought I'd give this one a go, but I wish I hadn't :(
Not got a lot to say.

I'm not sure why Sleepless has such a low rating online. Even though the structure of it results in the book starting off feeling quite disjointed, once I got into the story I was enthralled and thoroughly enjoyed it. The prose and characterisation were the strongest points of the book, and the plot was twisty and realistic enough to leave me completely satisfied with the ending.

Review posted to goodreads and amazon.co.uk, awaiting approval.

Nadja Kulka is out of prison after being convicted of a terrible crime and immediately finds herself in a difficult situation
Well this wasn’t an easy read - clever but disjointed. I had to reread several chapters a few times to try and understand what was going on and even then I wasn’t sure if I got it all.
Clever writing but I really didn’t like most of the characters and struggled to finish the book - took me a month.
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review

I’m sorry but the constant changing from various characters, storylines and letters failed to engage me and I stopped caring, if I ever did, about anyone in the book or their outcomes.

I honestly struggled with this book! I was expecting to love it as much as I adored Dear Child. Obviously it's always difficult to follow up on a book that was such a success, but it still felt like a bit of a let down. Hausmann definitely has a great sense of style as a writer and her writing is beautiful. Unfortunately, the plot this time felt convoluted and needlessly complex. There was a disjointedness to the storyline that normally wouldn't bother me, but that made it incredibly difficult to follow. Perhaps it's also because I read this book (an ARC copy) in English, rather than in the original German and some of it was lost in translation. As this wasn't the case with Dear Child, however, I find that hard to believe to be true.

This book was difficult to follow but well worth persevering to untangle the story.
Nadja is convicted of a crime and now wants to live her life, find her beloved brother and put the past behind her, but finds herself unable to refuse to help Laura after the call for help.
Nadja then finds herself in the middle of a twisted plot to frame her for murder because of her past.
Threaded through is an additional murder, the wrong man is convicted and the real killer confesses but get turned away all in the interest of reputation.
The story is a slow starter and hard to initially follow but fast becomes hard to put down due to suspense generated.

Rating 3.5

It's been years since Nadja Kulka was convicted of a cruel crime. After being released from a youth prison, Nadja wanted nothing more than to live a normal life: nice flat, steady job, even a few friends. However when one of her only friends, Laura von Hoven kills her lover, she begs Nadja for help.

The two women make for the perfect place to bury a body, a remote empty cabin in the woods. But once there, the plan quickly falls apart and Nadja finds herself outplayed, a pawn in a bizarre game in which she is both the perfect victim and the perfect murderer!

The book flicks between letters, the past and the present situation and at times I found it confusing as I didnt realise how they were linked. The story was interesting though, with the twist being good, not something I saw coming either time.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review..

Everything about this description intrigued me and after reading Dear Child I was excited to get the opportunity to read this. However, despite all the perfect components, I was a little bit disappointed. Such a brilliant idea - I just found it hard to keep momentum to read this in the way I felt it deserved. Interesting idea though

I had high hopes for this book, but it was hard work to get in to and took far too long to get going. The premise is good, but the layout of the book is very confusing on the Kindle, I hope it works better in print!

Not enough twists to keep my attention, but still better than most thrillers out right now.

I loved Dear Child, and found it to be a really compelling novel.

Like its predecessor, this book was excellently written, but unlike the previous book, I struggled to get into it.m and have had to shelve it for now.

It was probably me, reading this year has been really challenging, and I’ve found it difficult to enjoy books that I know I probably would have liked more of the world and my mindset were in a different place.

I’m saying that though, I will definitely keep an eye out for future works from this author.

Thank you to Romy Hausmann, Quercus Books, and NetGalley for the invitation to read an arc of this book.

A disappointing follow up to Dear Child.

Sleepless didn't really hook me in, the storyline was confusing flipping to and from the past, present and the letters. The ending just fizzled out - a bit too happy ever after!!

I was given a copy of Sleepless by NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review.
