A reasonably easy read about a tech mogul and his skilled assistant who is tired of his overbearing behaviour and decides to leave. A typical predictable office romance overworked assistance has enough . He doesn’t realise what he had till it’s gone.

Just a no from me, just didn’t enjoy this or connect with the story or characters, just couldn’t find any interest in it at all.

Such a cute book!

Forced proximity, only one bed, there's a storm so no is going anywhere. Seems like the perfect recipe for romance to me! I think this book was everything a romance novel should be, with all the classic romance tropes and phrases. What's not to love?

This book will make you feel good and make you want your own Lachlan.

Taken at face value this is a quick and steamy romance read. Look a little deeper and I found it to be very problematic. A man flying across the world to force his under appreciated and overworked employee to come back and work for him and a woman blackmailing a man - change your whole life, career and personality and I will be with you.
I stuck with it because I wanted to see how the story progressed - I genuinely didn’t think they would end up together.
So if you dont mind a dubious love match and want a quick and steamy romance in a dark and stormy setting then give it a whirl.

I like how the storm gave Charlie and Lachlan the chance to get to know eachother better. It does make you wonder how they never really felt any attraction before. This was a quick and very enjoyable read. The only thing I didn't like was that the ending came too sudden.

Loved the concept. Had great potential to be a fantastic read.

But it ended up being a DNF for one very specific reason at the start of the book. I found the whole workplace scenario put me off from the very start. The women in the office being extremely unprofessional and there was a general feeling that they were only working in order to "get a man". To be honest, if they were men talking about a woman colleague they would have been pulled into HR for sexual harassment.

Plus there were other issues with the portrayal of the workplace that bothered me - for instance, it's a tech company and things are being organised by arranging colour coded folders on his desk? And who only gives a day's notice before resigning when they've worked there for years. I'm assuming it was a permanent contract that Charlie has just broken so kiss any job reference goodbye.

Aside from that there needed to be more development of the relationship between Lachlan and Charlie before the separation. I wasn't even sure he knew she had quit when she left for Scotland and it was days later. But honestly - it was the portrayal of women in the workplace that had me make it a DNF.

This is your typical cheesy romance novel between the rich boss and his personal assistant (and I live for that).
Lachlan stole my heart to be honest, you think he's just some cheesy rich guy but you learn more about his actions throughout the book.
The female is a strong protagonist, trying to make her dreams come through on her own. It's not some annoying poor female needs a strong male to help her (grateful for that).

Also I live for the sexual tension happening in the book! Give me more!!

Although this book is short, it didn't feel rushed at all. It does suck you in completely, so be aware.
The writing is in third point of view. I'm honestly not a fan about that but you get used to it.

So over all, yes I recommend this book to my fellow cheesy romance lovers.

Office romance between Boss and his PA.
Charlie Middleton has been personal assistant to workaholic boss Lachlan for last three years and she was ready to change. She was working day and night and it interfered with her life so she was ready to move on. When she finds out her beloved aunt passed away, she leaves everything and be with her mother. As inheritance, her aunt left a small cottage in Scotland for Charlie. It was perfect chance for Charlie to check out the cottage before she starts her new job.
Lachlan never knew what he was missing until Charlie was gone. Everything was handled by Charlie before and now she is gone, everything is a mass. He is willing to use all his negotiating skills to bring her back but she is nowhere to be found. Until he finds out she is in Scotland in a small island. He is desperate and he will need her back before everything falls apart in front of his eyes.
Now Charlie and Lachlan needs to figure out why she can't come back and why he needs her. However, there is storm coming and they just missed the last boat out of this small village. They are stuck in this little cottage until they can safely go back. Charlie won't go back and Lachlan won't leave until she comes back to him.
They will have to survive this torrential storm and survive each other.
It was cute office romance that happened outside of office. It is easy to read. Nothing serious.

Charlie is a devoted assistant who is looking to leave her position working for her boss Lachlan to pursue her own career in something else. After a family death, Charlie quits suddenly and Lachlan is left without Charlie who had been scheduling his life for the last three years. What ensues is a boss who chases after his employee whom he does not have a personal relationship with and knows virtually nothing about. The fact that Lachlan comes to a realization that he’s in love with Charlie after only a couple of days suffered together on an island during a storm, even though they have spent years together with no attraction towards the other, is absurd. Two minutes before Lachlan arrived to Charlie’s Scottish inherited house, Charlie was hot for a local Scottish contractor. It seemed like the author pushed Charlie’s lustful feelings from one male to another just to push the story along towards a boss/assistant erotica. I genuinely felt that Charlie had more chemistry with the Scotsman than with her boss— of which she made a point of mentioning earlier in the story— she’d never found attractive before.

It felt like Lachlan only attached himself to Charlie (after she quit) because he didn’t want to be abandoned and she literally scheduled his entire life. It was weird that a boss would only develop feelings for his underling after she quit from working for him. There were no flashbacks in the book that would have showed Charlie and Lachlan’s prior work relationship and how they dealt with one another. There really needed to be development between the two characters and show a longer duration of time spent together. Not enough meat in this lean story to make a whole cow.

An okay read for a wet afternoon. I really wanted to enjoy this story about being marooned on an island in the middle of a storm, but this story just didn’t do it for me. The characters just didn’t have any depth.

Mmmm…. No.

I am not vibing with this. The flow and pace of the story was way off, the writing style failed to impress, storyline was too bland and chessy for my tastes, and characters lacked depth.

This was a cute, quick read. I love a good boss/assistant romance and this one definitely delivered!

Charlie has been bustling her balls being the best assistant to Lachlan Hart, however, she wants more from her career than meeting the demands of her overly demanding, overly ambitious and annoyingly handsome boss. Ready to take the next step on her career path she is about to tell him that she is resigning, however, a family tragedy has her leaving the office in a hurry.

Raised by a single mom, Charlie's aunt was like a second mom to her and is devasted by her death. Finding out that she has been left a cottage on a remote Scottish island in the will she decides to head over and check it out before she starts her UX Bootcamp. Requiring a lot of work she starts to put plans in action, but with a storm heading to the island, she knows she needs to leave soon and continue renovations in a few months. However, Lachlan makes a surprise appearance and attempts to win back his assistant.

An easy read, although I would have liked more of a build up to their relationship.

I personally don’t think you can go wrong with a book about an office romance & this one certainly didn’t disappoint!

I found Charlie and Lachlan to be likeable characters & I liked that their relationship had more depth than can sometimes be found during *smuttier* books. It kept me wanting to continue reading and held my attention throughout.

This was a light and easy read, but I couldn't help but be frustrated by just how quickly things change for Charlie and Lachlan. Somehow, they've worked with each other for several years and never managed to really notice how attractive and interesting the other is? And in under a week, that all changes? I'd call it insta-love, but I'm not entirely sure if it counts, given the fact that they've known each other for years. Meh. This is probably just a me problem.

While I found this a quick read, I found myself becoming a little frustrated with some of the repetition. The characters' internal battles became a little tedious at some points. I was also put off by the way that Charlie cowered at the big bad storm and had to be saved by the big strong man. That felt a little too cheesy.

This was such a fun quick read! Charlie has been working for Lachlan for 3 years, the longest he has ever had an assistant for. But as the years went on she has put his needs before her own, and now is tired of it. She longs for some me time, a relationship and a new career that doesn't depend on her 24/7. Lachlan is doing everything to grow his company, but in doing so he has taken thing and people for granted. He doesn't realize just how much until Charlie resigns. But he isn't ready to let Charlie leave and so chases her via a transatlantic flight and causes them to be stranded on an island during a huge storm.

I absolutely loved their playful banter and that Lachlan explained his thinking so that Charlie could understand him deep down. This took the book to a deeper level, and really fleshed out the book for me. I really enjoyed this book, but wish the ending would have given us an epilogue. I am a sucker for them and wished we could see what happens in their future.

This story by Sofia Sawyer was a romantic story that is based on an office romance between a tech mogul and his assistant. I'll be honest, I was sold on this book when I first saw that it takes place on the Scottish coast. Give me a story in a destination setting like this anyday and I'm all over it! I really enjoyed this story overall. It was kind of a short book, but it was full of all the feels. The setting was dreamy, even though it takes place during a storm. This was my first book by this author, but I would love to read more of her writing!

Charlie and Lachlan have worked together for years. Charlie as his assistant. She wants to leave and start something new with her life, which she ends up doing a little sooner than she expected when something tragic happens! With all this she goes to Scotland to visit a cottage that was left to her. Lachlan is in turmoil without her and runs off to Scotland to get her. They end up trapped together in a storm where the whole island has evacuated. During this time they learn so much about each other, truly opening up and falling in love.

This book was sweet and has all the romantic feels. I will read more from this author.
