⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Grace is on the run with an eight-week old baby to escape her high-profile, married ex-boyfriend? This book was not what I expected. It was a nicely-paced psychological thriller with enough twists, back stories, secrets, and tension to keep you guessing until the end (or nearly the end).

Side note: Having two kids of my own, I did find the baby to be too perfect.

Thank you to @NetGalley and @HQStories for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book from Karen Clarke which I devoured in just over a day.
The story immediately starts building the tension with Grace on the run with her baby, fearing the father and trying to get away somewhere she cannot be traced and just blends in. She travels from New York to her aunt’s house in deepest Wales with its stunning scenery, solitude and very few people. Her Aunt, who initially came across to be hard, soon mellows to both Grace and the baby.

Strange things start to happen and Grace starts to panic that she’s being followed and someone has been entering the house. The terror and tension in this part the book builds brilliantly and there are definitely some heart stopping moments and the natural instinct of a mum desperate to protect her child are expertly portrayed. The parallels of family events from the past are ingenious and it’s definitely a book where you start to question who you trust.

I highly recommend this extremely well written suspenseful and thrilling read.

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for an e ARC of And Then She Ran in return for an honest review.

My thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital for giving me the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy and give an honest feedback.

This is a great book! Very easy to read, flows really well, intriguing beginning which keeps hold of you right to the last few pages. It gives you two main characters to follow, both with secrets, neither willing to expose them.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book has it all- from a heart-warming story of life in a small village in Wales to a gripping psychological thriller. Family rifts are mended, there's a blossoming romance. and even a dog, Skip.

Grace escapes from New York with her daughter, 8 week old Lily. Escaping from Lily's father Patrick, she heads to stay with her reclusive Aunt Morag. They are made very welcome by the friendly villagers but Grace is permanently on edge suspecting that Patrick has sent someone to find them.

When she find a lock of baby hair on the stairs, a missing rabbit from the fridge and someone pushes her on the train, it confirms her suspicions. Grace has feelings for fellow visitor, Dylan but could he be Patrick's messenger?

I felt invested in Grace's journey and all the characters were well painted. I don't want to give any spoilers but what was an enjoyable read became an extremely gripping page turner as the story progressed.

Karen Clarke is a very talented author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

And Then She Ran was a great read. It had plenty of twists and turns and I did not see the ending coming at all. It kept me hooked all the way through and I read it in two sittings.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the free eARC generously provided in exchange for this book review. And what a book this was! Tapping right into the maternal urge to keep one’s child safe, this thriller initially takes the reader to New York where Grace works hard, combining work as a chef with looking after her baby daughter Grace and plotting an escape from her abusive partner Patrick. Fleeing to rural Wales where she takes refuge with her aunt, Grace’s hopes to start again appear to be dashed when she starts receiving anonymous notes. But there is a steely strength to Grace that must not be underestimated….a truly gripping read that should garner Karen Clarke an even wider readership.

Following Grace as she flees New York with baby Lily to start a new life in the Welsh countryside, this book had me gripped. I read it in a day and couldn’t put it down. The twists are clever and will make your blood run cold. Current events mirror family secrets as we discover who is following Grace, and most importantly why.

Captivating 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
And Then She Ran by Karen Clarke.

The story follows Grace as she flees her life and boyfriend in New York with an 8 week old baby. She heads for her Aunts remote countryside home in Wales.

The characters. Grace and Morag where likeable and relatable. Filled with hints of peril there was a huge feeling something would go wrong. I always suspected there was more to the story than I anticipated, but I never expected the twists and turns.

Extremely well written and gripping from start to finish. I read cover to cover in less than 2 days.

A great story.

Thanks to Netgalley for the preview of this book. It was an ok read. Slightly predictable and a little too long in places. The one line in the book about the Irish characters aunt telling him about the "pot of gold" was ridiculous, I'm Irish and I can guarantee that no Irish person believes this or talks like this.

This was a very gripping thriller with a hint of romance. It was a great read with a few twists to keep you guessing. It was not a long book so I raced through it. Held my attention throughout but I did feel the last few pages were a bit of a let down after the build up. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a preview copy of this book.

And Then She Ran by Karen Clarke. Pub Date 28 April 21
Grace leaves New York with her baby; she has promised her ex (married) partner Patrick that she will keep quiet and not mention what happened to anyone. She goes to stay with her Aunt Morag in her isolated, remote cottage in Wales. But Grace soon feels things are not right; she is anxious her worst fears have come true and that she has been discovered.
It is an enjoyable thriller/crime/romance story with credible characters and enough twists to intrigue you.
I want to thank NetGalley, HQ and author Karen Clarke for a pre-publication copy to review.

A real page turner of a book that keeps the reader guessing right the way through with an unexpected finale. What seems to be apparent gets turned on it's head and there's an unexpected twist and this happens throughout the book. Good set of characters, however I didn't really take to Grace the main female character but this didn't detract from the story at all. Despite being a thriller, it is light with a plot that is easy to follow with good descriptive writing. especially in the Welsh countryside.

A real page turner! This is a real “What would you do?” thriller, with loads of twists and turns. Karen Clarke creates credible characters and builds tension throughout. Kept me up reading through the night for the surprising denouement! I thoroughly recommend this book .

My first time reading any books from this author but will definitely read some more! Found this a fast paced, page turner of a thriller and really enjoyed it. Grace leaves New York after promising her ex married partner Patrick, that she won't mention what happened to anyone.
