And Then She Ran by Karen Clarke. Pub Date 28 April 21
Grace leaves New York with her baby; she has promised her ex (married) partner Patrick that she will keep quiet and not mention what happened to anyone. She goes to stay with her Aunt Morag in her isolated, remote cottage in Wales. But Grace soon feels things are not right; she is anxious her worst fears have come true and that she has been discovered.
It is an enjoyable thriller/crime/romance story with credible characters and enough twists to intrigue you.
I want to thank NetGalley, HQ and author Karen Clarke for a pre-publication copy to review.

A real page turner of a book that keeps the reader guessing right the way through with an unexpected finale. What seems to be apparent gets turned on it's head and there's an unexpected twist and this happens throughout the book. Good set of characters, however I didn't really take to Grace the main female character but this didn't detract from the story at all. Despite being a thriller, it is light with a plot that is easy to follow with good descriptive writing. especially in the Welsh countryside.

A real page turner! This is a real “What would you do?” thriller, with loads of twists and turns. Karen Clarke creates credible characters and builds tension throughout. Kept me up reading through the night for the surprising denouement! I thoroughly recommend this book .

This is the kind of thriller/crime book I like to read. Quite a simple plot with likeable characters, lovely descriptions of location and a simple plot twist. I'd highly recommend "And The She Ran" by Karen Clarke.

A solid four star read. Well written.with a mystery and a bit of romance. Great characters. Fast paced. Gripping. Plenty of suspense to keep me enthralled. Would definitely read her next novel. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it

My first time reading any books from this author but will definitely read some more! Found this a fast paced, page turner of a thriller and really enjoyed it. Grace leaves New York after promising her ex married partner Patrick, that she won't mention what happened to anyone. She arrives at her Aunt Morag's isolated and remote cottage in Wales to hide away but starts to feel uneasy as she feels like she's being watched and worried that he has sent someone after her

When Grace flees New York with her baby heading for a remote part of Wales she thinks she has escaped but will the father try to find her? Soon after she moves in with her aunt, Grace starts to notice odd things happening and thinks her worst fears have come true and that she has been discovered.

What happens next is a gripping psychological thriller that I just couldn’t put down.

Grace is on the run from New York from her ex, with baby Lily in tow, they end up at Grace's Aunt Morag's cottage in a quiet village in Wales.
Although Grace feels as though she is being watched and followed it didn't give me the chills as I thought it would. Maybe that is because I really didn't click with Grace's character, Morag on the other hand I loved and probably would have enjoyed it more if she had told her own story with her own chapters.
Thank you NetGalley, Karen Clarke and HQ for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Another great book from Karen Clarke and I devoured it. I just couldn’t put it down and so I read it in just over a day. It was so good. Set in Wales in the mountains of Snowdonia which I know very well was wonderful. I could picture all the scenery as well as the weather as I’ve spent many a wet day up there in the past. I enjoyed the way the story panned out and it didn’t disappoint. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is a book that I really enjoyed. It is a quality read and you never know quite who to believe as everyone has something to hide.
I didn't get fully immersed in Grace or the other main characters but conversely I was not overwhelmed with over detailed descriptions and feelings.
I've given it 5 stars as it is a really good read but I have to admit that I was a teeny bit disappointed at the end as I felt there could/should have been a very very late twist or perhaps slightly more of a link between Grace and her Mother (don't want to say anymore as it may spoil reading of the book)

Grace is coming home, running from her life in New York as an upcoming chef, coming to stay with her aunt Morag in the Welsh countryside. Starting a new life with Lily her daughter. But who is she running from. When strange threatening things start to happen Grace is very afraid that have they found her. Can she protect her daughter, can she protect herself ?
A rollercoaster read with an ending you won’t see coming.

This book is one of the best thrillers ive read in a long time. It follows Grace as she leaves new York with her baby in her arms, looking for a new start. But why is she constantly looking over her shoulder, and what happened to make her run ? As they arrive in a sleepy town in Wales to stay with her aunt, its soon apparent not everythings as it seems. Is someone after her, or is she just being paranoid ? The more I read the more twists and turns I found. Normally I can work out early on in a book whats going on but this one had me guessing right until the end. I finished it in a few days as I just couldn't put it down. By far one of the best books I've read in a while. I really do recommend it.

A good mix of thriller and romance. I’d say this is a book better for those who don’t read multiple thrillers a week since it’s light reading compared to my usual books. Characters are believable making realistic choices which is always a good thing! The tension in this drove me mad. (In a good way!)

I absolutely loved the ending. Fantastic and made the entire story!

A good easy read - a mix of psychological thriller and romance - I felt that the first three quarters of the book was a bit predictable and then the last quarter really bumped up the tension - Grace’s paranoia was well written if a little infuriating at times but the twists at the end were unexpected and welcome. With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest view.

Grace runs away from New York with her 8 week baby lily to the quiet countryside in Wales to stay with her Aunt Morag. Grace wanting to start a new life away from her ex Patrick, feels like she is being watched. Throughout this book Grace tells her story.

This is an easy read thriller with some twists and turns at the end. The reader will feel a sense of mystery to unearth the reasons why Grace fled away from her Ex.

Thankyou NetGalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

What if you know too much? What if you have no choice but start a new life on a new continent? What if for your own safety you have to bundle up your eight week old baby and run? What if they come looking?..
An excellent tale of families, and life, and love and healing. A story full of plot twists. A good summer read.

A mother's instinct kicks in when Grace flees New York for sleepy Wales. Always looking over her shoulder fearful that Patrick will find them. When her worst nightmare happens she will stop at nothing to keep her baby safe. Be prepared for a bumpy ride, griping right till the end. Hang on for the explosive ending.

This book certainly does not need a long review, it's BRILLIANT!, from start to finish. Great characterisation, perfectly paced plot and twists at exactly the right time. The twists definitely has the OMG! factor and when they are revealed I was saying "No way! that's one hell of a twist I did not expect". It's a completely gripping, page turning read and I could not wait to see how it ended, but I was actually sad when it did end because it's so good I just wanted to read more.. KC has written a bestseller with an added grenade at the end. I owe huge thanks to Netgally and HQ for the ARC, I really appreciate it and I will be telling every reader they must read this book.

Another good book from Karen Clark. Read this with ease. Didn’t turn out completely as expected which is a good thing in my book. Actually got me thinking for the briefest of moments that something completely gobsmacking was coming.
Only bugbear was the dialogue structure. Conversations weren’t clearly demarcated and this lead to it being challenging to figure out who was speaking when. This meant I was reading over dialogue more than once.
New speaker new line would have worked a treat.
