The twin brothers Villow and Dameaon Verchant are the main characters of this novel. They become Guide Seekers and successfully recreate an Original Species that was destroyed ages ago in the War of the Fiends.   Villow and Dameaon are completely opposite people who have trouble communicating with one another and don't know how to put their faith in others. As co-Guides, they have been given humankind as their Original Species. The twins struggle to get along when they teleport to Earth, jeopardizing both their success and that of the humans.

The story is gripping from start to finish, the characters are well fleshed out and the writing is beautiful. Overall, a great read.

First I would like to thank Net Galley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I loved the character development and the world-building is great. Real historical facts were woven into the plot and made me like it even more. It was a perfect combination of High Fantasy and history that made for a wonderfully enthralling experience.

If you are one to get lost during world-building I would caution against going too quickly through this book. It is high fantasy, and the world is not aligned with any blueprints that currently exist.

I enjoyed reading this book so much. It was a brilliant story with an equally good world building that happened. The twins Villow and Dameaon were definitely interesting characters. I would highly recommend this to readers who love fantasy with loveable characters. Eagerly waiting for the rest of the book of the series!

Definitely a furure favorite read!
That book was a real surprise for me all along ! There is a lot of world building at first and I got a bit lost, I wasnt sure it would work out for me, but once everything is set up I really started to enjoy the whole experience !
It seems like it's going to be a High Fantasy series but there was also a lot of real human history woven in it, which was a big surprise but I really enjoyed !

The author said that this would be a 5 book series so I really cannot wait to read more about the Glanching brothers !
Also I do hope somehow Kat and Damaeon will end up together because I gotta feeling they would be so good for each other ! 🤞
And I do not trust that Portia girl, she gives off bad vibes

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with the ARC of "The Seekers of Genesis: Empyreal Roots" by C.J. Walters.

This book read well and I wanted to like it, but I find it hard to make it through most books with present tense so I ended up putting down the book after trying to read through a few chapters over a span of a month. However, of the chapters I read, I could tell that the book was on the right track. It was an interesting start to the book that pulled me in!

Note: This book was written in present tense.

I initially picked this book due to the cover art but the story is what captivated me! Following the journey of these twins was an adventure and I can't wait to see if there will be more!

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with this ARC. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have had the chance to read it and give feedback.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a book for me. I thought it sounded interesting and am happy I was able to try it out, but I don’t think it’s my kind of fantasy.

Usually I give a book a few chapters to see how it goes, but I was lost by the end of the first chapter. With the amount of unusual names and heavy info-dumping in awkward conversations, it was just… a lot to take in. I think if it had provided me with a prologue (which I know is usually a no-no), it may have helped a little. That way, characters could have had more natural-sounding dialogue and not have to provide all the world building that way.

Judging by other reviews, however, I can see that other people are enjoying it. I’m happy about that! For fans of this genre, I’m sure it’ll be a great read for them. Unfortunately, I’m just not one of them.

When immortal twins Villow and Dameaon Verchant reach their sixteenth year, they are required to choose Paths to fulfill their purpose. Villow is prepared to become a Guide Seeker, to shape a world and its citizens, far away from his twin. But Dameaon changes his mind at the last minute, switching from a Soldier Seeker to a Guide. To avert disaster, the twins are assigned as co-Guides, tasked with re-creating humanity.

With their fates unequivocally linked, Villow and Dameaon must prove that mankind is inherently good, or humankind will be destroyed and the twins will be banished—or annihilated. With disagreements and failures at every stage, their last chance lies in Ancient Greece. But through their own reckless actions, the twins bring forth the Trojan War, causing more problems than even the gods can solve.

Perfect for fans of creation sci-fi like Waiting for the Galactic Bus and the writings of Octavia Butler, The Seekers of Genesis combines fantasy, science, and mythology to create a unique history of mankind.

This is surprisingly good omg. The characters and the world got me hooked from the very beginning. AT first, I've never thought that this book will be this good. The cover is definitely stunning too!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

This is actually a very new book- in terms of concept and themes. We travel in a richly built world by the author. For a debut novel, it’s actually GREAT-

The fresh concept and occurrence of Greek mythological themes is really fascinating. The writing style is good. I was sucked into the plot!! My favourite part- the character development is REALLY GOOD.

I’d recommend everyone to read it.

First of all I would like to thank NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have just finished this book and it took me longer than it should have because I was in a reading slump and High Fantasy is not the way to go for me to get out of it ! 😅

If I just had one remark to make is that I would have liked to have the different POV between Dameon and Villow made more clear.
Because everytime it switched I kinda had to figure out which protagonist it was about.

I first got drawn to this book by the eerie blue cover - I believe a cover is the first good step to dragging a dresser in to reading the blurb and that’s where you hook them! The concept of this book was so interesting and strange it fit the cover art so well snd I just had to request it!

I like how well the book flowed and I finished it in just three days, could barely put it down! The characters worked well together snd I believed that the were siblings with how they interacted off one another. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see where this author takes these characters next!

The growth of the characters was fantastic. I read the entire narrative in one sitting because I was so interested in it.
Loved this book so much, would definitely recommend it to people, it is such an interesting read!

DNF at 25%

This book had so much going for it! The world it built was so unique and brilliant, it was unlike anything else I've read. But unfortunately, everything else fell flat. I didn't connect with any of the characters and they just felt one-dimensional. However, my biggest grievance with this book is the writing style. It was not my cup of tea at all. It honestly felt like I was reading a Wattpad fan fiction from the early 2010s. I tried to push through but it was the biggest reason that I DNF'd this.

I thought this was a very interesting take on how the earth and humanity were created. The author's ability to intertwine fantasy with historical facts was incredible and made this book a very enjoyable read. It was also interesting to see how the character development shifted and how my reactions towards the characters changed as the story progressed.
With each task as the twins were preparing Earth for their human founders, it was exhilarating to guess which animal or plant the author was referring to during the creation process.

I loved this book!
It deals with humankind and the mistakes we make over and over again even though we try as hard as we can to change that.

At the beginning I have to admit I was quite confused as to what was happening and the world building wasn't quite clear to me. But that changed soon and then it was great. This book blends science with biblical stories and Greek mythology, it was awesome.

This story that is over 400 pages was amazing. I loved every page and need more. The characters and world building were spot on and I could not put it down. This was something fresh and new for the fantasy world of reading. I am excited to see more from this debut author.

This story follows twin brother Villow and Dameaon Verchantwho become Guide Seekers and successfully re-create an Original Species, destroyed eons ago in the War of the Fiends. Villow and Dameaon are polar opposites and don't know how to trust and can barely communicate with each other. They are assigned as co-Guides, with humankind as their Original Species. When the twins teleport to Earth, they struggle to find common ground, putting their success in jeopardy as well as the humans. I was completely sucked into the story, that it was a fast read for me. It was very interesting, and I found it neat how real facts from history were woven within the story. The character development was excellent. My favorite characters were Dameaon and Jetta. I definitely hope to learn more about Jetta in the following books in the series

Dameaon and Villow Verchant know that one day they will become seekers and grew up expecting for Villow to be a Guide Seeker and Dameaon to become a Solider Seeker. But fates have another idea and soon they find their selves co-Guides with Earth their assignment.
But with the brothers being so different they clash and have a difficult journey to being the Guides they are destined to become. I loved their story and am excited to read the next book. This was a great start to a series and adding mythology into the mix really brought it to the next level.

There are three possible fates for Seekers. Some successfully complete their trials and take their rightful place in Glanching society. Others fail and are banished for eternity. Those who break the Rules are annihilated.

The Seekers of Genesis: Empyreal Roots is the debut novel by C. J. Walters. I really thought Walters created a fresh concept with this novel and did fantastic job with world build. I was unaware of the Greek mythology that would be woven to the story and found that to be an exciting twist.

My favorite characters were Dameaon and Jetta. I definitely hope to learn more about Jetta in the next books in the series
