Cute picture book on being kind to animals. Eve learned that she couldn't do whatever she wanted when it came to handling the ducklings. I would use this during storytime.

A sweet story of a young girl and her grandfather taking trips to the park, where they discover ducklings. I love how her grandpa allows her to discover boundaries with wild animals on her own, a great lesson for children. The illustrations were cute.

Such a cute little story about leaving wildlife alone in their natural habitat and appreciating their beauty from a distance. My 3 year old is obsessed with ducks lately every time we go for a walk around our community pond, so she really enjoyed this story. The illustrations are stunning.

This was a sweet book about a day at the park. My kids often want to try and catch the ducks, so I liked that this book addressed that. The illustrations were cute and I loved that Eve went to the park with her grandpa ❤️ But not much happened. It just kind of ended.

Cute little book about teaching respect for nature and letting the animals be. Interactions can be nice or not so nice as Eve experiences.

This is such a sweet story about Eve and her grandfather seeing ducklings at the lake. This is a great way to teach your children to be kind to animals when out in their natural habitats. It’s an adorable story and a must read!

This was an adorable picture book with an engaging message about being kind to animals.

Eve and her Grandad take daily walks to the park to see the ducklings and being an inquisitive child, Eve wants to get closer to the ducklings to hold, hug, pet etc. The consequences of this are humorously told in the illustrations until Eve realises the one thing she CAN do to the ducklings!

I loved the relationship between Eve and her Grandad, and I particularly liked how the duck food is sunflower seeds (not bread!) at the end.

Overall, a great story to share with little ones!

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this as an eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a sweet and simple story about a little girl with her grandpa, leaning about how to be kind to ducklings and finding her reward. The illustrations, have lovely pastel tones, and both the animals and the girl and grandpa have warm characterization. The book has a warm and caring tone and would be a lovely book to share with a young child.

A cute, short story that young children can easily follow and enjoy.

Eve is a little girl who goes on daily walks with her grandpa. During one of these walks they spot some ducklings. Eve becomes fascinated by them, wanting to get close to them and play with them. Obviously, this doesn’t happen, no matter how hard she tries. After a few days, she chooses to play on the park equipment while the ducklings play and frolic in the water. She later returns with her grandpa to feed them, but they have disappeared, still she sprinkles some feed onto the floor anyways. Soon, she is joined by her little ducklings friends and their mother and they happily enjoy the seeds she has left for them.

I think the children at my setting will enjoy this story. I can see them sitting and listening as Eve attempts to make contact with the ducklings.

Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this ebook.

This is a very sweet book, with eye catching illustrations, and has adorable baby animals! Very appealing to any child above the age of 4, and even 3, if the child is an early reader. It's quite simple for a child to read on its own as well. I really like that this story explains that it's not a good idea to approach baby animals- it's frightening for them and triggers a fight instinct in the mother animals! Cute story, and a nice buy.

Oh this was adorable. The illustrations were cute, the story was simple but really sweet, funny and easy to follow.

This short book reminded me of when I used to go to the lake with my grandfather, as a child. I too wanted to get closer to the ducklings and pat them.

Apart from being a cute little story, Eve’s Ducklings is also about respecting animals and learning to interact with them. Eve learns that wild animals are not supposed to be held or touched, but that giving sunflower seeds to the ducks might convince them to come closer. It is about being patient and accepting that you can’t always get exactly what you want the way you want it, but that there usually is a middle ground or another way to please everyone.

I would easily recommend this book for small children, especially the ones who love animals!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC!

This is a cute book that shows how not to interact with wildlife. The illustrations are pretty and the story is a good opening of how not to act with ducks.

I have received an Arc for this book but the review is honest.
The artwork in the book is gorgeous. The intent is there but have to say I did not get the point of animal cruelty as an adult. For a kid to understand that harassing animals is not good might not comes across.

A cute and quick read about learning to be kind and patient with wildlife. The illustrations are amazing and the story reads well. Nevertheless, I think text is missing in two pages (7 and 14). If it isn’t a mistake, then I think some context should be added to those pages.

Eve's Ducklings is a cute story about a girl and her grandfather going to see the ducks at a local pond. Eve loves the ducks so much that she wants to play with them, but it doesn't go quite as planned. I loved the pictures in this book. I also believe that this book is a sweet way to introduce young ones about how to treat animals and get the discussion started about how to treat animals. This book would be great to read as a family or in any story time setting. Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)

A lovely story

Eve and her grandpa visit the lake everyday. There's a duck family with momma duck and two little ducklings. Eve wants to make friends with them and slowly learns that getting close to wild animals takes caution, time and patience.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The illustrations are lovely and add so much detail to the book. I like the message of respecting nature and animals all around us. A cute children's story.

I enjoyed the illustrations, but wouldn't read this to the littles as it encourages disruptive behavior that can be dangerous for both children and wildlife.

One chilly spring day, a young girl named Eve and her grandfather visit a nearby lake together for the very first time. Fascinated by a pair of baby ducklings frolicking in the water, Eve finds herself drawn to the playful creatures and wishing to hold, pat, and hug them. Mother duck is not happy about Eve getting too close to her babies, though! After a disappointing attempt at making contact, Eve and her grandfather choose to visit the playground together instead of the lake. However, several days later, Eve decides to try one last time to attract the ducklings using a different approach.

This intergenerational story celebrates the love between a grandfather and his young granddaughter. Parents of young children will recognize Eve’s enthusiasm, especially in two- to three-year-olds. Short, descriptive phrases and abundant dialogue make this book well-suited to preschool-aged readers, and it is designed to be especially enjoyable as a lap read.

The beautifully rendered illustrations are noteworthy on their own and serve to bring this story to life. Textured in unexpected ways, they perfectly capture the feeling of a chilly spring day with dappled sky and soft, green grass. Greens, blues, and yellows inherent to springtime fill each image, and readers can almost smell the park Eve and her grandfather are exploring. Background clues like an adjacent city skyline, palm trees, and cattails place the setting very specifically, while the jackets and hats worn by Eve and her grandfather indicate the outside temperature without textual context. Readers of all ages will be drawn to the cheery characters and the captivating visuals within this story.

At once a story about intergenerational love between a grandfather and his granddaughter and an example of the power of tenacity, Eve’s Ducklings draws readers into the dynamic and precious world of an inquisitive young child. Preschool-aged readers will especially connect with Eve’s story and look forward to sharing it with their grandparents.
