Nell's life is filled with grief and turmoil. A long-term relationship is over and her best friend Megan has just passed away due to cancer. Megan leaves Nell a letter requesting that Nell scatter her ashes in the town of Tansy Falls, Vermont, where she spent time as a child. Nell, a London accountant, travels to Tansy Falls to fulfill Meg's wishes. Meg's request is accompanied by a two-week itinerary of things she wants Nell to do while she is here. Some tasks are more difficult than others, but Nell begins a journey that will introduce her to new people and new experiences.

This is a beautiful book about love, friendship, and starting over. Megan's letter and the tasks she has prepared for Nell take her on a journey in the midst of her grief. Even as Meg's life is ending, she sends her beloved friend on an adventure to help her learn to live again. This is a heartwarming book that I would recommend to all.

This was an incredible read! I was hooked from the first page when the main character, Nell (Penelope) is catching a flight from England to New York, then on to Vermont. Maybe it was because with COVID, it's been forever since I've flown anywhere. It was like I was getting away with Nell.

There's so much that I loved about this book, it's hard to know where to begin. Nell's growth is incredible, for one thing. The author really knows how to paint her world so that, as a reader, I felt like I was right there with Nell, breathing in the same cool air. There were pleasant surprises along the way and moments that had me laughing out loud, and others that well, had me almost ugly crying! It takes a lot for a book to do either of those things for me so it says how amazing of a job the author did in immersing me into the characters and the story. I can't recommend this book enough!

While the premise of this book could have led it to be heavy, the story was completely opposite. Nell’s best friend Megan just passed away at 36 from cancer. She left Nell with a detailed plan and itinerary to travel from London to Tansy Falls, Vermont, a small town that Meg loved as a child.

Despite her fear of flying and bigger fear of leaving her comfort zone, Nell makes the trip and follows the itinerary, which takes her all over town and into the path of many strangers who become friends. She meets Jackson, father of six year old Joe, but while she’s interested, he’s a bit stand-off-ish.

Among the people she meets is a woman who is a Tansy Falls institution, Darlene. Darlene wants to sell her store and retire, and a local developer is a bit too interested in buying it. I don’t do spoilers, so I won’t share how all that works out!

This is a clean, light, fun book and I will look for more in the series. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

It's one of those cases when you fall in love with a cover and forget to read the blurb. I judge a book by cover but i wasn't wrong as I loved this story.
It's heartwarming and sweet, full of emotions and great characters.
The first book I read by this author but won't surely be the last as I loved her style of writing and character development.

This book has it all: friendship, love, loss, grief, betrayal... The Inn at Tansy Falls tells the story of Penelope Swift – better known as Nell – who is sent off to the little village of Tansy Falls by her friend Megan. Megan has just died from cancer and has left behind a letter and an itinerary for Nell. Megan knows just how hard the last couple of years have been for Nell and wants her to find happiness. She tells Nell to travel from London all the way to the United States, to the state of Vermont, to Tansy Falls, where Megan spent quite a lot of her youth with her aunt and uncle. With assignments for every day she is in Tansy Falls, Nell is forced to step out of her comfort zone as a London accountant. She thinks it's all part of Megan's wish to have her ashes scattered on Mount Maverick, but perhaps there's more to Megan's plans?

Author Cate Woods describes Nell's journey and feelings in a beautiful way, not shying away from the rawness of grief, but also filling the story with love and warmth. Step by step, day by day, Nell falls in love with Tansy Falls and its residents. And with every page I turned I felt the same thing. Usually I am not one to like overly romantic stories, but Woods had me blushing when Nell did, hiding my face under a blanket when Nell did; in short, experiencing all the feelings that Nell did. That is quite the achievement!

Then there are the lovely residents of Tansy Falls. First and foremost: Darlene, the shopkeeper of Fiske's. A ninety-something-year-old hell of a woman who is as funny as she is stubborn. Then there is the sweet Mallory, who is a friend to Nell right away. And let's not forget the handsome men that live in this tiny village too. Brody, oh Brody, you ARE trouble! Megan was absolutely right about you. And last, but definitely not least: Jackson, good old – and extremely handsome and attractive – Jackson. You had me yearning for you together with Nell!

The Inn at Tansy Falls is the perfect get-away novel. Let yourself be caught up in a lovely fictional village in Vermont. Enjoy the richly described nature, and have a taste of the mouthwatering dishes that are lushly described. Just one little point of critique: it's not very hard to predict how this novel will end. But even knowing that all would work out, I still had a marvellous time reading about it!

Let me end this review with one of the lessons you can learn from this novel. At some point Nell thinks to herself:

“Just because sooner or later we all die it doesn't cancel out the moments of happiness that come before, or make them any less important. In fact, it actually makes them more important.”

She is realising that although losing her friend is endlessly sad, it doesn't make the years they had together and the memories they made together any less valuable. Even when we're incredibly low, there is always something to smile about. Find the positive things and highlight them, and try not to dwell on sadness. There's always something new waiting for us to explore!

I enjoyed this book. I went in without reading the blurb; the cover sucked me in. Nell has just lost her best friend Megan and is following her final wishes. The story of Nell’s adventure, to honor her friend, make changes in her own life, and learn why the town was so important to her friend.

Nell is traveling to the US with the destination of Tansy Falls, VT. The first hurdle of many will be to get on the flight – she hates flying. She is tasked with scattering Megan’s ashes. Once at her destination, she has daily tasks and meets wonderful characters along the way. I love the changes in Nell as she discovers what makes Tansy Falls special. What a way to start a series.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is the first book in a three part series.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis. It also stated in the synopsis 'If you love feel-good love stories by ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, you’ll adore this gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over'. I am a huge fan of Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr so am looking forward to see if it lives up to this. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 34 chapters. The chapters are medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Vermont, USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonist being Nell Swift. The benefits of third person perspective especially with are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Wow!! What an absolutely gorgeous book and I was completely over the moon when I came to the end of the book and realised that this is actually the first book in a three part series. I absolutely LOVED reading this and was devastated when my journey at Tansy falls same to an end.

This book is beautifully written with vivid descriptions and stunning surroundings I was absolutely captivated throughout. The cover and the synopsis work perfectly with the storyline.

The storyline is absolutely gorgeous. If you enjoyed reading 'P.S I Love you' then you will LOVE reading this!!! Instead of the husband leaving an itinerary it's the best friend Megan and she sends Nell on the most beautiful adventure. The storyline is realistic and down to earth and the setting is picturesque. I was absolutely sucked in from the first to the last page of this heartwarming and soul lifting page turner. On several occasions I had to reach for the tissues so make sure you have a supply to hand before you start reading this and clear your time table as you are going on a beautiful journey. I genuinely felt like I was on holidays in Tansy Falls and I was devastated when I realised I had to pack my bags and leave at the end. However, all is not last and I cannot wait for the next book in what promises to be a page turning series.


I fell in love with not just Tansy Falls but all the amazing people in there. It was such a friendly village where everyone knew everyone else and you would never feel alone. I loved how Nell's character and personality developed throughout the story and I bonded with her immediately. Her friendship and closeness to Megan is beautiful and a story that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Nell went from a girl who was petrified to get on a plane to a strong woman changing her life. Jackson is an absolute hunk and I cannot wait to see where things go!! I LOVED Darlene who was such a vivid and larger than life character who I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of!!! Liza and Brody are just absolute slime bags and I'm sure we will be reading more of them soon.

Cate congratulations on an absolutely stunning novel and welcome to my top author list. Your book is a page turning heartwarming and soul lofting success and Cecilia Ahern has definitely got some competition!!! I would love to see this turned into a movie and I hope your busy writing book 2 as I for one cannot wait!!!


Overall an absolutely gorgeous book that will whisk you off to Tansy Falls and lift your heart and spirit. A page turning, addictive compelling novel that will leave you wanting more.

Super cute book...all the feels! This book was well written, the characters well defined, and the story believable. I will issue a tissue warning for parts of it.

What a delightful book! So sweet, such a feel good read. I found the characters relatable and lovable. Loved transitions between storylines. Just an all round great book. Will definitely recommend.

Nell has just lost her best friend to cancer. While trying to grieve her loss, she has to fulfill her best friend’s last wishes to travel from England to America to scatter her friend’s ashes.

Megan, the friend, sends Nell to Tansy Falls, VT, a small town where Megan spent many summers growing up. Megan leaves Nell an itinerary to follow while in the town which teaches Nell what is special about this place.

Although the book was a little predictable at times, I enjoyed it a lot. The characters are well developed and there were some very touching moments in the story. I think this is a great start to a series.

the story of nell following a journey her bestfriend made for her after she passed was so heart warming. i loved being able to almost experience tansy falls by reading this book. everything really came to life and i love nature so much so reading about it made me love the book even more. the ending was so sweet and worth the wait but i need to know what happens after!!! i will be anxiously waiting for a second book to know what happens. totally recommend this book 10/10

Penelope "Nell" Swift and Megan Shaw were the best of friends. Thick as thieves you might say. Their friendship crossed oceans and withstood the test of time until Megan was taken...by cancer. But Megan was prepared. Megan's last wishes to Nell were spelled out in a letter. A letter requesting Nell to scatter Meg's ashes somewhere in her hometown of Tansy Falls. The letter also outlined an itinerary for Nell to follow. An easy task, but will it be that easy for Nell?

The Inn at Tansy Falls is a well though out novel brimming with down-to-earth characters. From the smart, but introverted and socially clumsy Nell, to the witty and extroverted Meg. The other characters in the story play well into the narrative and they are just what you would expect from a closely knit small town such as Tansy Falls.

The storyline flowed smoothly and seamlessly between past and present. And those seamless transitions are what made the plot easy to follow -- that is to just follow the itinerary, get out of your comfort zone to experience everything that life has to offer in a small town.

The Inn at Tansy Falls is a cheerfully sentimental novel that will evoke all the feelings of happiness and joy, as well as sadness. Truly a lovely work of fiction. Five heavenly stars.

Nell flies off to Vermont from her lonely London life to take care of her best friend Megan's final request after her death from cancer. Nell is to go to Tansy Falls and follow the two week itinerary that Megan wrote out for her. Over the course of the two weeks she meets many interesting people and enjoys nature after spending her life in the city with few trees. Now I want to go find a cozy inn with an eclectic general store nearby. Fans of Robyn Carr will enjoy this book.

A fun, sweet, light read. An a great summer book to get you in a happy mood.

If you are a fan of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River Stories, then this book is practically tailor-made for you.
Following the death of her best friend, Meghan, Nell is tasked with scattering her ashes and visiting her childhood home in America. Nell is not in a good place with her personal life and hates flying, but her loyalty to Meghan sees her board a plane and start a journey that will affect her life, beyond her wildest dreams.
This book was an absolute joy to read, and I adored it. As Nell follows a series of daily tasks, she discovers the hidden secrets to the beautifully named, Tansy Falls. Sitting at the foot of Maverick Mountain, the sleepy Vermont community is about to be impacted by a massive tourist development which could change the face of the picturesque town for ever.
There are many wonderful characters, that Nell meets along the way, but Darlene and Jackson are the two who have the biggest impact. I loved how ornery Darlene immediately bonded with Nell, making a friendship that was destined to last. Jackson, on the other hand, was more of a slow burn, a single Dad trying to protect his son from any more heartbreak, he doesn’t make it easy for Nell to get to know him.
Nell’s adventures are simple, yet she discovers so much about herself as she faithfully visits the local museum and learns about Maple Syrup.
Cate Woods has discovered the magical recipe for creating a character driven story and not making it too obvious as to what will happen. Of course, I had my hopes as I got further into the book, but I won’t spoil it for future readers.

As the two weeks unfolds, Nell is less and less enthused about the prospect of returning to the confined spaces of her London life, her failed relationship, loss of her pregnancy and bleak skies.

This is a really sweet book with a caring storyline of best friends taking care of each other even while facing the saddest time.

I loved how Nell’s whole outlook and strength grew the longer she was in Tansy Falls. It’s a goodie 👍📚📖 📚
