In North Wales, ten year old Ellie packs a rucksack - and vanishes.

Acting DI Gaby Darin needs to find out whether she went of her own accord or was taken. Why did she go? Where is she?

Meanwhile, at the crematorium, a bizarre discovery. Either the last...client had 3 hip replacements, or something is seriously wrong.

Gaby's priority is finding Ellie, but is there a link between the two very different cases?

I absolutley love this series - read the first three and was looking forward to reading Lost Souls. So often I've been let down by a series when they seem to lose their umph - no fear of that here - I think this is the best in the series so far. I read it in a couple of hours! All my favourite characters from the previous books are here - the wonderful Gaby Darin and her side-kick Owen Bates. And of course there's the great Rusty Mulholland to bring a hint of romance to the story. And what a great story this one is - a gruesome find in the crematorium and a missing young girl - they couldn't possible be connected, could they? Along with the story we learn more about the detectives private lies - all so realistically drawn that it's like being with friends and I was sorry when the last page came. Bring on the next one. A solid 5 stars from me since it's the most I can give!
