I did t realise this was the fourth book in the series when I requested this book, so was a bit confused at times but I enjoyed it despite this, the writing was good , would have liked a bit more character development over world building and felt a bit too plot-heavy for me but overall it was nice

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Thank you Netgalley and the author for the e-arc. Unfortunately, I haven't read the previous instalments and I just didn't really manage to like it. Not for me but some readers will probably love it!

Despite this being the first book I have read by this author and it being the 4th book in a series it was fairly easy to pick up the themes that obviously run throughout the series. This tale of elemental witch Ruby, her cute daughter Rose and their attempt to make their destiny right for them is an enjoyable read. Diego proves himself to be a worthy and likeable hero. Also who doesn't love a cute Fox and a mad aunt? All in all a good escapism read

A big thank you to NetGalley and City Owl Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 4th book in a series. I have not read the others. I found it a bit confusing at first and a mite overwhelming, but quickly caught up. It may be best to read them in order. I felt I was missing a lot of background story, I truly enjoyed it once I got caught up. OMgoodness the drama!! I found it to be a wild ride. I absolutely adored Fenn, and Rose. This is a fun fantasy, paranormal, with a smidge of romance. Lots of suspense. 3.5 stars.

A decent urban fantasy read. I hadn't realised it was 4th in the series when I requested it so I went back to the first book on Kindle Unlimited and read the series there.

Loved the dynamic of the family (particularly with the introduction of Rose) and the concept of magic working with the elements. The writing was a little too plot-heavy for me to really connect with the characters or be invested in their struggles with the power system behind the magic. At times it felt like the author sacrificed character development to add in additional plot elements to flesh out the overarching plot arc.

All in all, it was a good read - but you need to have read the other books first.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it without reading the previous ones in the series and I didn’t have any trouble keeping up with the narrative. This story had many classic Urban Fantasy elements, and the writing was solid. The big unique family dynamic between Ruby’s family was really fun to read about and it really makes me want to read all the other book in the series. Ruby and Diego were so cute together and the second-chance romance trope was utilized really well. Overall, this was a great book. If you like Urban Fantasy, I really recommend it.
