Sami and Salma are Having Fun with Similes by Zeena Musallam is a children’s book to teach children about similes. Similes are presented on each page in bolded letters. The illustrations are not the best.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Sami and Salma are having fun with Similes is a fun book to help teach children about similes.
Through this book, Sami keeps playing pranks on his sister Salma and Salma has enough and decides to pull her own prank on Sami to get her own back.
The similes are used on each page and highlighted in big bold writing for children to easily spot and see a pattern during the story. This is a fun way for children to learn the often tricky start of learning about similes and can be used in a classroom or at home.
Children love pranks and will find this book fun to read.
The illustrations weren't the best but the use of similes used is fairly good.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I am not sure about this book. What is the purpose? If it is to teach about similes it fails=as the story is not good. I don't think many parents would appreciate the pranks. I found it not likeable. The graphics are just ok. The similes themselves are find-but there is no explanation for the parent or teacher to help explain to the child. It is labeled as nonfiction but the story is not true (I hope). It should be educational. I think there are probably better books out there. 2 stars

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy. This is a very quick read. I'm sure young children will find the pranks hilarious. I don't think parents or teachers would appreciate it as much, with ideas of payback and pulling tricks on family members. The illustrations aren't as good a quality as you would find in other children's books published. I'm not sure what the purpose of this book is, other than maybe teaching siblings to be friends? I would skip on this book, choosing other books that teach values more clearly.
