I was intrigued by the conceit of Thirst and so requested it, not quite sure of what to expect. Having read it, I’m now not quite sure what to think.

Nothomb writes from the perspective of Jesus , from his arrest through his crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. Parts of this are very touching, as the author focuses on the human aspect of Christ and his relationship with God. Other parts, however, fall flat and become repetitive.

I’ve read fiction about Jesus before, and it remains a subject I have complex feelings about. Those looking for a short read focusing on the humanity of Christ may find this book interesting, though it’s not one I’d widely recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
