I was intrigued by the premise, however the book itself was a let down. The story was hard to follow and the main character was difficult to sympathize with.

On paper, Jane Obsorne has everything going for her. She’s married to a plastic surgeon and they have a twelve-year-old daughter. Everything seems to be swimming along until she discovers her husband’s secret, which rocks their foundation to the core. But this is a fast, fun and funny novel with a lot of heart. While the secret (no spoilers) is not something I hadn't read before, the candor and humor infused into the way Jane deals with it most certainly does. Jane is relatable and easy to empathize with and although we want what best for her, it is so entertaining to see her snap.

This title and cover caught my eye.... and it did not disappoint. Jane has A LOT going on - she seems to lead the perfect life being a stay at home mom to a daughter and married to a prominent surgeon. BUT underneath it all, she is barely holding it together as her world is completely crumbling around her. Her daughter is acting out, her mother is slowly slipping away, but most importantly her husband Dan has been cheating on her entire life with men - because he is gay but refuses to rock his perfect external image. On top of all that, Jane realizes her 'friends' are all shallow and terrible and she can't rely on anyone. Oh and she is also semi-supporting her little sister who seems flaky and dependent. Que Jane snapping and getting arrested - by a detective who just so happens to be extremely attractive and from her HS days.... What is Jane going to do and how will she get out of her messy life that is built on lies and facades? Loved this book, found myself laughing and rooting for Jane and hoping she made it out on top.

See Jane Snap is a feel good story that revolves around Jane in the middle of a potential scandal with her husband that will rock her whole life. She has to figure out how deal with her life and figure out who she really is. This story is a nice read that I really had a hard time putting down. It is very detailed and when you finish reading it you are left with the story ending full circle.

After reading the first few chapters, I initially thought this book was heading towards the thriller direction, but quickly realized it wasn't. I felt for a lot of the characters, but the book didn't pull me in as much as I hoped it would. I love the title and the cover! Thank you, NetGalley.

This is a quick and fun read. Although I would say this definitely falls into the category of "women's fiction" (although I had that term), there is aa bit of substance here on self-reflection and choosing the life you live. It is also chock full of enjoyable, relatable women characters. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for providing a digital ARC for review.

Jane Osborne, in Bethany Crandell’s See Jane Snap, appears to have the perfect life - a husband who is a doctor, a daughter who attends a private school, and a very busy social and volunteer life. Everything seems to be going great until it isn’t, until Jane’s husband, Dan, tells her the lie he has been living their entire marriage. Crandell has given her readers a flawed yet realistic character in Jane, a character I found myself cheering for wanting her to find happiness and acceptance. This well-written, unpredictable book will have you believing in forgiveness and second chances.

I think we all feel like Jane every now and then. This book was so good. It dealt with serious issues of being a wife and mother and sometimes we just come undone. Jane is strong and I really loved her! The writing was excellent and the characters evolved beautifully with such clever dialog!

This is my first read by Bethany Crandell and it won't be my last! Entertaining, quick read, and just the genre switch I needed to get me out of another reading rut!

I requested this just because I loved the title and cover - definitely attention grabbing!
This was a pretty fast paced book for me, and I finished within 2 days. I am not a mom or wife or anything, but lately I have been really stressed and felt like I could snap. The oranges scene cracked me up, because OH MAN, I get it.
I enjoyed the group/meeting parts of the book more than the stuff with her husband. Also I feel like the ending was kind of unrealistic, like he changed his mind that fast and apologized? That's fine though, I like happy endings. Anyway, I enjoyed this book and am so thankful for the ARC!

This is a very tough review to write. I did enjoy this book. It made me laugh out loud at times, but also had me feeling empathetic to almost every character, even Dan. However, there was a huge error in this book that I found myself unable to look past. In the beginning the main character Jane steals a Zoloft from her friends purse. Shortly after she is having an anxiety attack and plans to take it but mentions that she can't take a mood altering pill while driving.

For those of you that don't know. Zoloft is an SSRI. It is taken daily and does not work immediately to calm an anxiety attack. It takes several weeks to work and is not a take it when you need it drug, in fact messing with how often you take it can be harmful. It is also perfectly safe to drive while taking Zoloft. It is not a mood altering pill, it is used to level out serotonin levels which ultimately helps with depression and anxiety. I believe the author meant to say Xanax which is a benzodiazepine. It works immediately and can cause drowsiness, making it dangerous at times to operate a vehicle while taking it.

With the stigma that already surrounds mental health care, I found this oversight to truly take away from my enjoyment of this book. I would hate for someone to read it and then either be told to try Zoloft, and/or hear a friend is on it and judge them for driving, or doing anything that is perfectly safe to do while on the drug. They even mention later in the book that the character is now taking Paxil, (another SSRI) and specifically call out that she is NOT on Zoloft, when in fact Zoloft is the same thing.

I am all about making mental health a normal conversation, and I love when books include it. However, if you are going to write a book where the underlying story is about mental health, it's so important to do the research about the drugs you are referring to.

While I would love to rate this book on the story alone, unfortunately such a big error is one I just can't look past, especially since it was such a major part of the story and not a throwaway line mentioned once.

Jane has a picture-perfect life, but the truth is far from it. Jane is slowly losing her mind, pained that her relationship with her daughter is getting strained day by day and the betrayal by Dan, her husband living a double life, loving a man. But most importantly her having to go along with it, to live her life as a lie. Everyone around her is oblivious, as she struggles with her constant panics and stress until she reaches the brink and snaps.

I devoured this in one day and had fun reading it. I loved the part where she snaps that girl deserved to do it, and also, high jane is my favorite. This book is a sweet ride of laughter, romance, and forgiveness. Dan had to pretend his whole life, he could have confided Jane as a friend, but I could also understand his outlook on it. And that makes the story feel real.

It was well written. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

See Jane Snap is a fun read that combines crisp humor with series issues. Jane Osborne is almost a caricature of the suburban mom - mother of one, wife of a cardiothoracic surgeon, PTA President, fundraiser for the local hospital, SUV driver - you get the picture. But underneath, she’s falling apart. Her 12 year old daughter Avery is acting out in middle school, her mother has dementia, her sister always needs a favor and, oh yes, her husband has recently told her that their 18 year marriage has been a sham because he’s gay and another doctor is his lover. Adding to the stress (if all that other stuff wasn’t enough) is the looming hospital gala where a very conservative midwestern couple is expected to make a donation to cover a new cardiac wing. That means chummy dinners with the donors and a lot of pretending with gritted teeth. When Jane finally does dramatically “snap”, the results are laugh-out-loud scenes that will have you rolling. And, not to give anything away, you’ll never look at zoo animals in the same way. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake and Bethany Crandell for this ARC.

I loved Crandell’s first book and this one is a great read as well. Jane does finally snap under all the pressure she is forced to grapple with: a mother with Alzheimer’s, a truculent teen, lots of responsibilities. Oh yea, and a husband who just came out to her, but is coercing her to lie about their marriage. The scene in the parking lot had me in stitches, because honestly, who hasn’t fantasized about going berserk like that. It reminded me of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. I loved all the 70s tv show references. The scene where Jane has her run in with the law is hysterical. Officer Chavez got my vote all day long. Even Dan, the skunk, turned out not to stink so bad. Let your hair down and read why and how Jane snapped and I promise you won’t regret it.

It took me three days to read this book.
Crandell’s writing style is easily consumable and leaves you aching for another chapter. While Jane’s story was extremely powerful and liberating, I found a that villainizing her husband Dan comes off as a bit problematic. While he is a cheater, sometimes it feels like Jane hates him for being gay. This is resolved by the end, but it still impacted the way I felt about the story.
However, I did enjoy the full resolution at the end of the novel when Dan realizes he was being a jerk and when he comes clean about the lies he has been telling in order to get the hospital money.
Overall, this novel was attention grabbing and well thought out. I really loved Jane and her character development!

I loved this book! Hilarious and heart breaking. Jane is on the brink of snapping, she is being pulled in all directions of motherhood, her marriage, endless expectations and commitments from her the challenging age of her 12 year old, to her surgeon husband. Would highly recommend this book, heart warming and laugh out loud funny.

My Take: 2.5 out of 5. This was almost a DNF, i was almost going to stop reading but i ploughed through and it did get better. Not better to recommend it highly but the character of Jane became more nuanced and I appreciated the story much more. By the end I was invested and just had to see the story through. I think this is a book that a PTA mom would enjoy, but i think that is so far from my life that I just kind of couldn't relate to the character. Also I feel Her husband is a caricature up to the last few pages, which makes for a whiplashing character development if there ever was one. Character development for the best, but out of left field.

Thank you to netgalley for this ARC of See Jane Snap. I really enjoyed this read. Jane's character reminded me so much of myself and many of my mama friends. We are almost always one second away from losing it as we navigate suburbia. So many times I feel my voice being muffled or shushed for rhe sake of what "looks good" or "proper". When Jane snaps I'm there beside her, adding my own orange the the pile and cheering her on.

This novel was quite the story of hidden identity and a marriage that goes wrong from a husband leading a double life. I received this novel as an advanced reader copy from net galley in exchange for an honest review. It is an emotional journey.

I loved The Jake Ryan Complex when I read it earlier this year, so I was thrilled to find out that Bethany Crandell already had another one being published later this year. As soon as I got my hands on an advanced copy, I added it to my kindle queue. And I'm so glad I did!

While this novel was different from what I was expecting based on the synopsis alone, it was great the entire way through and I really enjoyed it. I could feel Jane's tension and anxiety almost as if I were in her shoes. It just emanated off the pages. There are times I would have really taken pleasure in doing some of the things she did in this story. (Get your mind out of the gutter!) There were some sweet moments, as well as some more intense ones. And, of course, there was a lot of humor throughout. I even got teary-eyed at one part toward the end. Just like with The Jake Ryan Complex, Bethany created another fantastic and swoon-worthy romantic interest.

Bethany Crandell has written two winners this year and I can't wait for whatever she comes up with next!
