The writing and pace felt a bit too humdrum for me... I couldn't connect throughout, and this then killed my enjoyment for the plot. It's just not my style of writing, unfortunately

Couldn't get into this book at the beginning but the more I read, the better I thought it got. An interesting concept and one I don't suppose happens very often in real life...! Loved the outcome - completely the right one in my opinion!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review, which is what I have given.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I had this book on my shelf for a long while and it suddenly felt right to read it. However, I struggled. This is due to me though. I have trouble reading about toxic relationships...I just wanted to scream at Ant and Amy. I understand that people can find themselves in a toxic relationship and it is not safe to leave, but I just don't want to read about it. Does the nature of the relationship mean the other choices made are right? This is what made for an interesting book.

I finished the book, but it wasn't for me.
Well written, somewhat long chapters.

Having read other books by Nick Alex books, found this to be lacking something… still a quick read and reasonably engrossing.

Thank you NetGalley and Publishers for this ARC

This was an interesting book about 2 couples in imperfect relationships and how life circumstances affected them and their children. While I enjoyed the book quite a bit, I did feel it was longer than it needed to be and did just plod along at times. A slow burn romance, or a situational drama with likeable characters. Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for proving me with a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book, even when it flagged a little in the second half. I liked the way the story was told, through alternating couples. The trip to Spain exposed all the problems each couple had, not in a good way. I recommend this book, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

A nice easy read with well developed characters. Felt quite slow at times and the chapters are a tad too long.

Another excellent novel from Nick Alexander, featuring four people: Heather, Joe, Amy, and Ant. A masterclass in juggling different POVs in one novel - I sometimes struggle reading books like that, but I didn't here.
A joy to read - thanks for the ARC.

Perfectly readable family drama; I finished it quite quickly and found myself engrossed in the characters’ lives. I was very keen on certain characters getting their comeuppance but the whole thing lacked surprise. It’s comfortingly predictable. No twists, but serviceable entertainment.

The chapters where horribly long, drawling on ...about them, their familiy and what not. It was too much info dump the first chapters and i hated it. This just was not for me.

Reviewed on goodreads and amazon and thanked the publisher and #netgalley for the opportunity. I'm sorry I didn't realise I could do it here.

From Something Old by Nick Alexander was another beautifully written book I loved it from beginning to end. This
book is about two ill-suited couples, Heather & Anthony and Amy & Joe, whose lives change dramatically after holidaying together in Spain. This book is great for a holiday read and all the characters were brilliant

I highly recommend this book.

Big thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the arc in return for an honest review.

Two families Heather, Anthony and their girls and Amy, Joe and their son Ben.

Anthony is handsome, charming and abusive, Heather is unconfident, unhappy and controlled. One of their daughters Lucy is best friends with Ben.

Amy is beautiful and troubled, Joe is always trying to please Amy and keep up with her ever increasing whims.

They decide to go on holiday together but each couple hardly know one another. What follows rocks everything and their lives fall apart and the cracks in their respective relationships are fully exposed.

This was so well written allowing you to see from the different characters perspectives. It was unputdownable and I loved the ending.

The book was quite interesting but didn’t captivate me as I expected it to.

Heather has lived with Anthony for ten years or so and they have two girls but he is a control freak and Heather has no life if things are not right Ant will not be nice. We have Joe & Amy who have Ben and have been together for fifteen years. Amy is always wanting to change things like become vegan and it feels as though she is the one in charge of their life’s.

They all go on holiday together to Spain as Joe’s Dad was meant to go and the villa they have is too big for just the three of them. The holiday seems to make them realise there is cracks in their relationship.

The book seemed a bit long winded I did enjoy it and hopefully there is a nice ending.

This is a new author for me and I love his writing style. He is able to dissect relationships and look at them with close scrutiny. His characters are beautiful.
Many thanks to Amazon Publishing UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
