This book is a good source for background knowledge for young readers. I think the illustrations could be more realistic, but the content makes the book worth purchasing.

I accessed this title for review purposes via NetGalley. My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

This is an illustrated kids' story version of Albert Einstein's biography and claims to be suitable for ages 3-8.

The good:
- The illustrations are interesting and a few make me suspect I've seen the artist's work before, though I can't put a finger on where. (Who is the artist? I didn't see an illustrator credit in the review file. I actually suspect there may be more than one.)
- The messages about different kinds of intelligence and how not fitting in doesn't mean you're worthless are great!
- Anything to introduce kids to STEM and history is wonderful in my opinion, and this will do that.

The bad:
- Text to illustration ratio is not suitable for preschool. My 3.5 year old lost interest on page 1.
- This is presented as a biography of Einstein but it's entirely education and scientific contribution. There's a lot more to Einstein's life than his rocky high school years and his physics papers. He was a German Jew during WWII for goodness sake! It would also be nice to see mention of his dyslexia, considering part of the book's message is that not every smart kid finds school easy.

I think this book could be a good start to introducing kids to Einstein or to the scientific advancements of the 20th century, but I do think it should be paired with historical context and/or additional exploration of Einstein's life. I disagree with the recommended reader age and would say this is for kids 5/6+ depending on reading level and interest.

The "Inspired Inner Genius" series of biographies for kids are great for younger kids who want to learn about famous people. They're kind of long for really little ones and would need to be broken up into multiple reading times. Otherwise, I'd feel comfortable reading them to kids as young as 4 or 5. The language is definitely appropriate for that age level.

At the end of each book is a qr code (or a link if you are unable to scan the qr code) for a free bonus. They have a poster of each person from their booms with the "moral" of their story. They would be very cute to print out and hang up to remind kids to dream BIG!

Even I, as an adult, learned from reading this book! It was a well done intro to the well known scientist for kids! I appreciated how it showed how even kids who don’t follow the obvious path can still be successful with hard work

This book does a great job at illustrating the life of a great scientist in an accessible way, so that children may relate to him. I really hope that children feel inspired reading this book and that it leaves them wanting to know more about Einstein and science. The book also contains a summary aimed at older children and adults and an actual photograph of the scientist, which I thought was a great idea. As many other reviewers have pointed out, I do think that the age recommendation should be raised to 5-9 year old.

One big detractor for me was the varying quality/inconsistent style of the drawings. I think the pages 2, 5, 11, 12 were beautiful with the lights, the colours and the texture. The rest of the drawings were rather flat, especially pages 4, 6 and 7, which look like they were drawn using Paint.
Additionally, the lack of mention of his faith and his dyslexia feel like a missed opportunity for representation. I understand that not every aspect can be incorporated, but I think it's important for children to see diversity and to learn to relate to characters who are not like them.
These two points are the reason I detracted two stars of this otherwise good introduction to Einstein.

I actually fell for this guy when I first laid my eyes on his white frizzy hair. And whatever it is, I will never get tired of reading about this guy. I wish. I wish. I wish I could have been there when he was walking on this planet.

And I will never ever like that teacher who thought he was too slow to learn anything. But thanks to such ignorant adults, education didn't ruin his life. And he educated the world after that. Awesome.

I love the illustrations. And yes, that cover. His hair is so tamed. I am complaining not complaining. Love the contents.

Let's forget those who sees you as a failure starting from those who you think who knows you well. They don't. Believe more in people like Einstein.

This was a great book! My 7 year old son LOVES science and loved this book! It has the right amount of information without being overwhelming, and is explained in a way that is exciting to children. I would definitely add this book to my child's bookshelf and look at more of this series also. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This is a beautifully illustrated life history of one of the most seminal scientific figures of our modern times. It is really inspiring how Albert overcame some difficulties. I also liked how the book showed his difficulties but also kept the focus on him as opposed to mentioning WW2 and his requirement to move to America. This is a wonderful git for young readers interested in science or history.

This was a beautiful and informative look into Albert Einstein's personal narrative. My 7 year old loves nonfiction so she was enraptured by this book. I think any young reader would find his story interesting and appreciate how even from his misguided beginnings he was able to find success in his own way. The message was clear and thought provoking. I only wish he was smiling in the earlier pages however when I got to the middle and his overall outlook changed I realized what a good choice it was to have a frown at first. The story was extremely easy to follow and quite enjoyable.

I also loved that the illustrations showed him grow and change physically from child to adult. The visual passage of time was extremely helpful to see how much time it took to get from one stage of his life to another and how it is never too late to make a positive change.

The good: introduces young folk to impressive brainy persons from the past.
The bad: dodgy information and not very interesting.
The ugly: no mention of his dyslexia and poor representation of his lack of people skills which kids could relate to.
The illustrations are not bad and show good effort. Hope the series gets better with each new book.

This book is really good. It is easy to understand and the illustrations are cute. It is also short which will help children to finish the book easily without boring them.

I love how at the end of the book they give inspiration to children. I rarely see children's book with inspirational words at the end about the story. I would highly recommend this book.

Great introduction of Albert Einstein for children 3-8. I thought the illustrations were lovely but had some issue with incorrect depictions of science and math in the background. I also appreciate the skin color chosen for background characters. Thought the level and amount information given was appropriate for this age group.

I think it's never too early to start kids on reading non fiction! Specially if it's as engagingly written as this one is. I don't necessarily agree that everyone has to be a genius, that seems to be unnecessary pressure on a child, but I do appreciate the message that all children have unique qualities and there's no need to be disheartened if at first, school is hard or you find particular subjects difficult. This is lucidly written and I think would be appropriate for a 6 year old as well. Works very well as an introduction to a great life, and to emphasize Anton Ego's words- not everyone can be a great artist, but great art can come from anywhere!

Albert Einstein by Inspired Inner Genius is a great picture book for adventurous, young, non-fiction readers.

I enjoy a good picture book that dips into the world of non-fiction! It's a fun way to learn and get your students and/or children engaged. The illustrations in this book also make the story a lot of fun! They are drawn wonderfully and are fun to look at.

This book helps us learn about Albert Einstein. This smart, German man is a very famous scientist who has done some truly incredible feats. I think this book is a great resource for people wanting to learn more about famous figures in the STEM community.

I would say this book is for a little older of an age group that is still into picture books. There are some larger sentences and full paragraphs on each page. It's not a bad thing, but it's not for very young readers. Adventurous, non-fiction reader who still want to enjoy a picture book would be perfect for this age group. Again, I think this is a great way to get young readers interested in STEM, get them reading at a more advanced level, and learn something along the way.

Albert Einstein is a widely recognised genius whose curiosity and imagination led his to some mind blowing discoveries leading him to being known as one of the greatest physicists in history.

I think this book is a fabulous way to introduce him to children early on in their learning. It is a biography that sums up his life and his works in a simplified way for younger children to understand. Although it is aimed at children from 3 years old, I think it is better suited for children of primary school age so from 4-5 years onwards. However, I think children of 3 years will enjoy the story, especially the illustrations. I like how the story touches on Einstein’s struggles in school and how a teacher told him he wouldn’t grow up to achieve much and how he has proved them wrong. I think that is a lovely message to get across, especially to children, to not give up.

The illustrations in this book portray Einstein in a cartoon-style way which works for the young audience. The faces are expressive and you can clearly see the emotions Einstein is feeling at those moments.

I enjoyed this book, it is a lovely addition to any bookshelf and captures Einstein in a nice, simple way so that it’s intended audience can recognise the amazing genius Einstein was. I work with 3 year old children and when I think of how they would receive this book, I believe it might be a bit to complex for them to comprehend and understand but I do believe they would be able to sit and enjoy the story itself.

Albert Einstein is a children’s book marketed to ages 3-8 that tells the biography of Albert Einstein.
I absolutely loved the idea of a biography for this age group. As a child, I LOVED reading biographies and remember a series at the library where I read almost all of them.

The illustrations are gorgeous in this book and uses a rich palate of colors. However, the illustrations did not consistently appear historically accurate. For example, there was a classroom scene where several girls were wearing pants in the early 1900’s. The hairstyles felt very contemporary.

The amount of text to pictures was too much. Each page had several sentences, most of them compound. Most books for this age range only have 1 or 2 simple sentences and are careful about the words they select. The language used in this book is not appropriate for this age group and their learning capabilities. Words such as ‘geometry,” and “theory of relativity” are a lot for adults, let a lone a 3-year-old. It would have been great if the author had explained it in a child appropriate way. As the book is only 16 pages, there is room for more story development.

I also felt that Einstein’s biography tried to cover too much ground in too short of a book. For example, there were a lot of big events left out such as Einstein being a refugee from Germany before World War 2. He also influenced the development of the nuclear program in the US. It might more sense to develop this into several books that focus on different parts of his life.

I feel the biggest omission was that Einstein had a strong bond to Judaism. In 1950, Einstein wrote, “I am the more distress over these circumstances because my relationship to the Jewish people has become my strongest human bond, ever since I became fully aware of our precarious situation among the nations of the world.” He made multiple contributions to the Jewish community in his life and was even offered the Presidency of the newly formed Israel. Not mentioning or addressing this at all, feels like a serious omission in a biography and a missed opportunity for representation.

At this point, I cannot recommend this book. I really hope the author takes the critics of myself and many other reviews and releases a second edition. I think this is a promising idea and the illustrations are stunning.

My Thoughts
I love to read books that encourage kids to stay inquisitive and follow their dreams, particularly if they are STEM-related! Here are my pros and cons for Albert Einstein:

Pros
1. Nice illustrations throughout the book.
2. I would have loved a book like this when I was young. I enjoyed reading about people who were pioneers in their field (Einstein, Wright Brothers, Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Amelia Earhart, etc.). I think this book provides enough information about Einstein’s life that it will encourage inquisitive children to want to learn more – either more about Einstein himself or more about his theories.
3. I do love that the story encourages perseverance (although I would have liked a bit more specific focus on it – See Con 2 below). Every child needs to understand that if they want to learn something, gain a skill, achieve something, or whatever it is they desire, they will likely have to work for it… and work hard.
4. There is a mini-biography included in the back of the book about Einstein along with a real photograph of him from 1944. I hope kids read the mini-bio because it provides some specific information about his life that the story only touched on briefly.
5. This book is written for children ages 5 to 10 years old.
6. Ultimately the focus of this book is to follow your dreams, even if others don’t understand them or someone doesn’t support them. Only YOU can achieve your goals, so you can’t let others derail you. Einstein knew that, and if kids learn that from this book, then it is a book very much worth reading.

Cons
1. I wish the story had discussed his upbringing just a bit more. The synopsis for the book tells us about how Einstein didn’t speak until he was 3, but the story never mentions that.
2. I would have liked a bit more emphasis on how he never gave up when he was younger. Because he was so much smarter than his peers, he was often bored in school. He needed to be challenged! Instead of just accepting a curriculum that was beneath him, he ended up teaching himself what he wanted to know. At age 12, he taught himself Algebra and Euclidean geometry over a summer, and by age 14 he had taught himself integral and differential calculus. That would have been great to include in the book! Talk about hard work and focusing on your education!
3. I also wish the story would have given us, even at a very basic level, a bit of a description on what he was learning about light waves. The story mentions several times that he discovered that something was wrong about what people had previously thought about light, but that felt too vague. There were no details. Granted, this is a kid’s book, but some kind of basic explanation would have improved the story in my opinion.

Summary
I know a lot about Einstein and his life, so perhaps I was looking for a little bit more in this book that I should have been. While I do think there are some things that could be improved, overall, I think this is a good introduction to Einstein.

This is the first book in a series of books from this publisher. I am looking forward to their future books.

This was a lovely book perfect for younger children. This has just the right amount of information in and I think this book could get some children more interested in learning.
