I so enjoy reading books like these. So intimate, like reading a journal. I observe the wildlife in my tiny postage stamp yard in a semi-suburban city. I've lived in mine for 50 years and have watched many changes. For a long, long time I saw it changing for the worst, now it seems to be rebounding with wildlife returning (I saw a turkey vulture the other day!). Maybe things will turn around for Ruth Pavey and community. Organic farming will help, easing of traffic, too (we all really need more public transportation. Especially here in the States. I enjoyed the illustrations, too. Whole book is simply a lovely read. Make a great gift for a nature lover or gardener.

Wow this book was an emotional read - I cried reading it as it really draws you in and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster.
The book was wonderfully written and tells the story of a girl (Hannah ) grieving for her dog (Tammy)who died. The part I really liked is the dog is still there with her he just can't be seen anymore and he doesn't know what is going on. Tammy wants to be there for Hannah and help her though the tough times she is experiencing but he just doesn't know how when Hannah can't even see him.

Then Willow comes along a brand new puppy for Hannah and slowly starts to gain Hannah's love but the great thing for Tammy is that Willow can see Tammy.

This was a great book and I would definately recommend to all readers but be warned you need tissues!

Hey folks, daddy Steve here again, with a second book report for you this morning. Back to a yound reader type book, this time it’s Tammy and Willow written by Gillian Young.

Wow, that one shook me up a bit. I knew what I was getting into but still, any time there’s a dog death, it’s a rough one. But, before you go away and decided this book’s not for you, I’ll say the whole story is very well done, very touching to see it through the eyes of the spirit of the dead/ghost dog.

As I said, this one aimed at young read but I never mind that. These are often the kind of books I like the most, although I will say that in this case, it seemed a bit more aimed at young girls, with a few teenage angst moments I could have done without. 😉

That being said, it was an excellent read!

Huge thanks to NetGalley who provided a free eBook advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. This is as honest as it gets...

This is a Younger End Middle Grade Book. This is all about Tammy (a dog) passing away, and her owner a young girl (Hannah) trying to get over it. Hannah in time gets another dog named Willow. This book has some weird/ light magic realism going on. I think if the book was going to have magic realism that need to have more or none. This is a very quick read middle grade written for the lover end of middle grade. I liked the very simple pictures in this book. I did like this book, but I felt it could have went farer then it did. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Matador) or author (Gillian Young) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
