The Hunted Girls Jenna Kernan
This is the second book of this series, and if I'm being honest, I preferred the first book. I did enjoy and finish this book, but wasn't gripped by the story the way I was in book one, I would still read another in this series though.

Such a strong follow up! I loved Nadine and her sharp instincts in the first book, and she does not disappoint in this one. This story is definitely for police procedural fans, and could be pretty graphic at times but it was so compelling and entertaining! Highly recommend!

The Hunted Girls is a nail-biting, twisted sequel to the Nadine Finch series! The plot is very suspenseful & keeps you guessing till the very end. The crimes are chilling but is sure to keep you hooked. The book was a page turner for sure! The plot was unique & strong. The characters were amazing! Nadine's character has come a long way even if this was just the second book in the series. I like that there are secondary characters to support the plot & the limelight is not just on Nadine. This makes the story feel complete! Towards the end some scenes got a bit too fanciful to believe, which I didn't like but all's well that ends well. I hope to see Nadine kicking it in the next book as well.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Jenna Kernan for an arc!

This book was so good. Its packed with twists and turns. I couldnt put it down. Its the second book in the series. Having said this I havent read the first one and it can easily be read as a standalone. I liked the authors writing style. I connected with all the characters.

The second book of the Nadine Finch series you could read this one as standalone but, as with all series, the character development and refernce to past storylines are better recieved when you have the background,. I really liked the facet Nadine’s mother is a serial killer herself and the way this shapes Nadines thoughts and motives as an FBI serial killer profiler and she hunts a serial killer in her home town. Nadine fears that she herself may have the newly discovered and somewhat controversial "violent gene". She can think like a serial killer, that is why she is so good at catching them.

A highly compelling, well written graphic serial killer and police procedural and I highly recommended. it to psychologiacal thriller fans. Read the first one though, you'll get more context and be more invested in the characters if you do.

Oh Jenna!! Man oh man can this author write. She is a auto read for me. I loved the first book in the series and the second book was no different. We start off with Nadine who is a profiler for the FBI. She’s headed into a crime area she hoped to never return too and the story that follows is face paced and enjoyable. It is a little graphic but it doesn’t take away from the story.

10/10 would completely recommend.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was the second book starring FBI Forensic psychologist Nadine Finch.
When a woman is found murdered Nadine is bought into investigate but the killer is also hunting Nadine. What follows is a good cat and mouse thriller.
I’ll be looking out for book three.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Hunted Girls is the second installment in the FBI forensic psychologist Dr Nadine Finch series, set in Ocala, Florida. While serial killer mysteries are a dime a dozen now, Jenna Kernan has written about an exceptional team put together by Nadine Finch.

Everyone on her team has ties to a serial killer; whether they are related to one or their life has been impacted by one. Nadine’s boyfriend, Clint Demko, has a mother that was a serial killer.

In fact, Nadine herself has quite the background. She and her brother, in jail for murder, have a serial killer as their mother and their uncle and grandfather. Her background affects her entire life, including her career and her relationship with Clint. Nadine continually wonders if these murder “markers” have been passed down to her and that thought alone makes her hesitant to commit to Clint, who may have his own murder “markers.” She has chosen this line of work because she feels this is a way of absolving her past.

While she has vowed never to return to the Ocala Forest, where her mother murdered several people, she now finds herself right in that area hunting a serial killer called “The Huntsman,” who traps his female victims, cages them, then hunts them with a bow and arrow, leaving them to be eaten by alligators. When more bodies start piling up, Nadine realizes the murderer is getting closer to her inner circle, and those whom she has even spoken to casually are being sought and killed. The Huntsman seems to evade capture easily and is bold in his pursuit. When someone on her team is taken, Nadine realizes she may have to use herself as bait to capture this ruthless serial killer.

The Hunted Girls is one of those stories that draws you in from the very first page and does not let you put it down until you are finished. Jenna Kernan has created compelling characters with genuine histories and convictions. As a side story, Nadine’s relationship with Clint Demko was interesting and raw. Her guilt for her mother’s crimes was in direct conflict with Clint’s desire to have a relationship with his mother, despite her also being a serial killer. While this is the second book in the Nadine Finch series, it is wonderful as a standalone as well.

Parts of this novel are very graphic in description of what happens to these women. But if you love a good mystery that is suspenseful, emotional, and frightening, this is an amazing book.

This is the first detective series I have read. It kept my interest the whole time but I was disappointed in who the killer was and why he was doing the killings. I would however give the author another read since I liked her style of reading.

A solid crime thriller, detective case with a serial killer vibe. Although I enjoyed the way the author connected the characters to the plot and how the plot unraveled keeping me guessing, I was slightly disappointed in the way it ended.

Women are being abducted. The victims have been starved, then chased with man with a bow and arrow ... using them as human target practice as they run through the woods. When they are down, their spinal columns are severed and then fed to the alligators.

Dr. Nadine Finch is once again called in to help the FBI with profiling. She brings with her 3 other people as her team. They all share one unique quality.

The rules of the twisted game becomes clear as more women are abducted, tortured, killed. The man is obsessed with Nadine and will do whatever it takes to draw her in.

When someone close to her, and to the case, is taken, Nadine must do the unthinkable ....

This is an excellent follow-up, the second in this series. Easily read as stand alone, I highly recommend reading the books in order. The back stories of these characters are unique. It's an intricate plot and an intense suspenseful story line wrapped around unpredictability. Well-written and full of action, this is a real page-turner.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

A tale of obsession. It is dark and grisly. The case has features of a past that haunts her to this day. You will need to read this one in the light of day!

This is book 2 in a series and I recommend reading them in order to understand Nadine and her backstory. She has a lot of family history that is relevant to this book. You also get to know her and her lovable team better. At the start of the book, I found Nadine a bit whiny and childish but she did get better and more likable as the book went on. I’m also not fully sold on her and Demko’s relationship. However, I do love them as characters.

If you love gory murders then this is the book for you. The murders are definitely disturbing but written well. The pace was a bit slow to start with but it soon picks up and sucks you in. I was hooked until the end and I had no idea how Nadine was going to deal with the problem. I wasn’t sure how it was going to end, it definitely kept me guessing.

After reading the first book in this series, I had really been looking forward to a sequel and returning to these characters. This book begins several months after the end of the first, after Nadine has completed FBI training and is sent on her first case. There is slightly less focus on the behavioural analysis elements which I really enjoyed in the first book, but they were still there to some extent. It still had the feeling of Criminal Minds in book form, and I enjoyed the concept of the case and the plot.

At the beginning I found Nadine quite whiny and the way she acted quite childish and odd at some points. But I felt that that improved throughout the book, although the romance elements were not my favourite. Still very keen to read any further books in this series.
