Thank you NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a huge fan of Renée Watson’s other work, this did not disappoint! I adore middle grade books as they are so comforting and sweet to read and always touch on important issues in a way that everybody can learn from. This was a beautiful story and I really did become attached to the characters. A very easy, fast paced read!

Thank you to NetGalley & Bloomsbury Children's Publishing for sending me an eARC of Ways to Grow Love. All views and opinions discussed here are my own.

In typical Amy fashion I did not realise this was part of a series until I came to read it; I am a simple girl, I see Renee Watson and I click request. That being said, I don't think I necessarily missed out on anything from the first book and this one can be read entirely on it's own without missing anything plotwise.

There's definitely some interesting themes and messages in this book but it really is targeted at a very young audience. Some MG books can carry off into a wider target audience but this one falls heavily into the young middle grade. It's probably a book i'd give to my nieces to read - they're 7.

Overall an easy but young read.

I love Renee Watson's writing. I have to admit I didn't originally know this was a middle grade book when I requested to review this on Netgalley. Even though I'm not the target audience for this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The book as incredibly sweet, and so much happened in such a limited number of pages. Despite the fast pacing, and despite the limited pages I really felt attached to Ryan Hart and the characters in this book. It's amazing how connected I felt for these characters in less than 200 pages - think some other authors need to take note.

Really sweet book, with lots of life lessons for Ryan Hart. Will definitely recommend. Perfect middle grade book.
