Wow! What a page turner.
I couldn't put this book down.

Two teenage parents go missing after a night out. But they never returned home. Kim the mother of the girl never stops looking but the case has gone cold .
Will Kim ever find out.

A brilliant book that kept me wanting to read more.

The Night She Disappeared is such an interesting story, told in 3 timelines....the present day, a timeline from the night of
Tallulah's disappearance and then also a timeline leading up to the disappearance. One would think 3 timelines would be confusing, but I didn't find it confusing at all. Lisa is a talented story teller and had me gripped from that creepy prologue!

As a mother, thinking about Kim hoping for some news of her daughter (Tallulah)....it really hurt my soul. Lisa also portrayed Kim's character and situation so well....she missed her daughter, and what she's left behind is Kim's world now, but she's also tired and and and....

This book is on the lengthy side, but I enjoyed the read. The ending didn't blow me away for some reason....though it was a satisfactory conclusion.

3.8 stars rounded up.

✨When I received this ARC from Random House, UK Cornerstone for an honest and unedited review, it made my day.
Lisa Jewell is such a fantastic author I had no hesitation as to whether I would enjoy this one or not.
✨The story follows Kim a mother to two children and grandmother to Noah. Noah's mother, Tallulah has gone missing along with her boyfriend and father of Noah. On what was a rare Friday night out for the young couple turned into them disappearing without a trace, with no-one able to account for their whereabouts and with no communication. Kim knows in her heart her daughter would not just abandon her son, she's too devoted as a mother to do this.
✨When I tell you my heart was racing as the story untangled it's no lie. @Lisajewelluk really has a way to keep her readers engaged throughout the story. Giving the reader an opportunity to piece together clues is an amazing skill from the author. I was hooked from the onset simply because the story unfolding was gripping. I love her writing and I just know this book is going to be number one on the charts when it's released.
✨I highly encourage all of my followers to go onto Amazon and pre order this book, if you are a fan of mystery / thrillers, you cannot get better than this one. It is available to pre order now and will be released on July 22, 2021.

My rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5. Full 5 star review.
Now to order every one of Lisa Jewell's books 🤗

I discovered the stunning works of Lisa Jewell and my life changed. She is absolutely brilliant! I just am down with her foray into thrillers. She does it so well.
Invisible Girl was hands down one of my favourite reads of last year. Jewell never disappoints, and that’s the case here, too, with The Night She Disappeared.

In classic Lisa Jewell style we have three narratives and we wonder how they will meet. The premise is a simple one: a teenage mum and her boyfriend go out for a night and never return...There isn’t much evidence so the case goes cold. Until a year later the partner of the new headteacher in town spots a “dig me” sign and gets caught in this missing person case...

The less said the better. This is a twisty read. Plenty of suspense and red herrings. You can’t trust no-one. I loved the atmosphere of this small town village. The characters are equally emotionally engaging. I loved how family is presented. You have Kim and her teenage daughter, mother of a baby, who all live together, and then you have Sophie who was the other woman in her much older than her partner’s life. My favourite characters were Kim and Tallulah: their maternal love had me welling up. Jewell doesn’t brush over motherhood though and presents all its messiness in its grey form.
I was completely hooked through and through, and didn’t want to stop until I got to the end. With The Night She Disappeared rest assured you are in the hands of the master of the psychological suspense genre.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this arc. Lisa Jewell is a favourite recent author of mine. I loved The Family Upstairs, and Invisible Girl. I’m so excited to explore her backlist of work. She’s an absolute buy, and I couldn’t wait to dive into The Night She Disappeared.
The title explains the plot. 19-year old Tallulah went on a date with her boyfriend, leaving her infant with her mum to look after. Afterwards they went to a party at rich girl Scarlett’s. They never returned home...
The novel is narrated from three POVs:
* Tallulah - the story goes back to September when she started her foundation course at the local college three months after giving birth. Throughout the book this thread catches up to the present in a jaw-dropping climax.
* Kim - mother of Tallulah, discover the following morning that her daughter and her boyfriend haven’t come home...
* Sophie - in present day Sophie, a detective novelist moves into a village boarding school accommodation with her partner who is the new headteacher. One morning Sophie discover a sign that says “dig here” and unleashes a link to the past. Her narrative combines with Kim and the duo set out to discover what happened a year ago.

This was such a ride. The characters were engaging, and each chapter ended on a cliffhanger. I just couldn’t stop reading. An absolute five stars from me. Lisa Jewell does it again - once again she pulls off a brilliantly thrilling plot with compelling and relatable characters 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you Random House Cornerstone U.K. and NetGalley for the ARC of The Night She Disappeared. I have read, and enjoyed, many of Lisa Jewell’s books and her latest did not disappoint.

I felt that all the characters were well fleshed out, even some of the more minor ones. I appreciated Sophie and her detective novelist angle within the book. I felt that Kim’s character represented a tired, grandmother desperate for her daughter to come home really well.

I read this book in about 3 sittings, always wanting to know what had happened. I had theories so I needed to know if I was right or wrong!

I would highly recommend The Night She Disappeared to readers who enjoy a good thriller.

A new Lisa Jewell book is always an event to be savoured - many thanks to the author, the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

The Night She Disappeared is a gripping, intriguing story about nineteen year old Tallulah and her boyfriend Zach, devoted parents to baby Noah, who both vanish after a rare night out. They were last seen at the home of crazy rich girl Scarlett, a house fittingly called Dark Place, but never made it home.

Some people, including Zach’s mother, think they’ve just run away, young people overwhelmed by the responsibilities of of parenthood, but Tallulah’s mother Kim knows that, young though they are, they would never willingly leave Noah.

We see events in the present - a year after the disappearance - from the point of view of Kim and of newcomer Sophie, a novelist whose partner Shaun is the new headteacher at the nearby fancy private school, and who finds herself getting mixed up in things. And we also see Tallulah in the period leading up to her disappearance, as more information is gradually revealed. To say any more would be to risk spoilers, and where this book’s concerned, you really don’t want that

I loved the character of Kim - the kind of mother everybody should have -
and of Tallulah, a young woman learning more about who she is and what she wants from life. Sophie, too, was an engaging and proactive character. I had no idea throughout what had happened to Tallulah and Zach, and the truth, once revealed, was a surprise. There was one character who I would perhaps, in retrospect, like to have learned more about given the way they behaved.

As always, a brilliant read.

Tallulah is a teenage mum and is living with her mum Kim, and her boyfriend Zach and her younger brother Ryan. Their baby, Noah, is now 12 months old and Tallulah and Zach have not been out together in a long time, so make plans for dinner at their local pub one Friday night. Kim has encouraged this night out and has even said to have a lie-in and she will look after Noah.

Later that night, Kim receives a text from Tallulah asking if it is OK for them to stay out for a bit as they have bumped into some college friends of hers and are going back to one of their houses. With Noah asleep, Kim heads off to bed only to wake up at 4:30 am and discover that Tallulah is not home and she still isn’t home later, that day, in fact, she never comes home.

A year later, Peter who is the new headteacher of the private school across the common and his girlfriend Sophie take residence at the school. Sophie is out walking in the woods whilst Peter is working and she comes across a sign nailed to a fence saying ‘Dig Here’...

This is definitely, hands down Lisa Jewells best novel to date! Starting with the preface about arachnophobia, that instantly got my pulse racing. I am petrified of spiders! I was hooked from the start right the way through to the end and I was constantly changing my mind on what the outcome will be. I had so many theories running through my head throughout the book. It is just one seriously twisty chilling story that makes for extreme compulsive reading. It was very difficult to put down. Just phenomenal!

I love Lisa Jewell's books so was delighted to receive a copy of this one. It certainly didn't disappoint. Another great Lisa Jewell novel that is sure to grip the reader from start to finish. I was instantly pulled in by this novel and completed it the same day such was the hold it had on me. Excellent characters, great suspense and well paced plot. The story is told over two timelines.

In 2017, nineteen year old Tallulah is leaving her child with her mother Kim to go out on a date. Her mother is completely unaware what is in store for her daughter and that Tallulah will not be home to see her child in the morning.

Kim wakes up the following day to find no trace of her daughter and frantically tries to find out where Tallulah is and why she did not return home. Tallulah’s friends tell Kim that she was last seen heading to a party with her boyfriend Zach at a house in the nearby woods called Dark Place.

In 2019, Sophie is walking in the woods near the boarding school where her boyfriend has just started work as a head-teacher when she sees a note fixed to a tree instructing ‘Dig here’

There are some excellent characters in this book and the two timelines work well to keep the suspense mounting. Very addictive, well crafted story.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Random House for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. I love Lisa Jewell's books and this is right up there in my top 5 of hers. Outstanding storytelling, brilliantly real and relatable characters, more twists than a sack full of Slinkys, intrigue and deceit that would challenge even the savviest of readers and a deliciously satisfying ending. THIS is the pandemic reading I want - escapism, excitement, suspense and a world where going to the pub with a group of friends wasn't a danger mission. I will not write about the plot as I fear anything could serve as a spoiler, I will simply say that I think it is brilliant and I loved it.

Mind blowing and compelling - a book I rushed through in a day and a night (so much for sleeping!) and then wished I hadn’t because it gave me such a book hangover. Brilliantly written, fantastic characters who feel so ‘real’ - everything you need is within these pages.

Cannot recommend more highly.

Lisa Jewell at her brilliant best. Moving to new town, an crime writing author comes across a simple note stuck to a post saying 'dig here'. She does, and is drawn into the mystery disappearance of a young mother and her boyfriend who everyone believes were in love and devoted to their one year old son. Only the girl's mother seems to believe something had just have happened to them; until that note is found, and what the author digs up.

Thank you for my copy of this book to review.

I have read all of Lisa Jewell’s books so far and have loved them all...this latest one is no exception.

I especially liked the different timelines, the private school & village setting & how the story is told from different characters perspectives.

To be honest, I did guess what had happened but it hasn’t changed my opinion on how good the book was.

I finished this book in days and have already recommended it to friends. I can’t wait for the next one!

I’ve enjoyed previous books by this author and am a big fan of her style, so I was confident I’d like this but actually I didn’t just like it, I was totally blown away. The narrative is absolutely compelling and I needed to race to the end to entangle the tale and find out exactly what had happened.
The building of the atmosphere and mystery surrounding the disappearance of two teenagers is expertly done. There is an eclectic mixture of youth, money, and the feelings of uncertainty and discovery of teenage years along with the bittersweet contradictions of the responsibilities of being a teenage parent.
Lisa has a unique way of digging deep into human nature, which we all recognise aspects of and presenting it as an all engaging story which you feel almost a part of, so engaging it is.
An absolutely well deserved 5 stars from me and a story that will stay with me for a long time. Thank you.

This would make a very good television series. As it is, it is an impressive and gripping read. Tallulah and boyfriend Zack have a baby son and a difficult relationship as he becomes increasingly controlling. Nearby is a family of entitled people with a daughter Scarlett. They live in a mansion appropriately called the Dark Place. Scarlett is a mixed up young woman too. The centrepiece of the story is a boarding school, Manton College where a new headmaster comes with his partner Sophie. It just so happens that Sophie writes detective novels so is an ideal helpmate of .Tallulah’s mother Kim when her daughter and her partner Zack disappear. Kim and Sophie discover clues that restart the police investigation. The story is well told with gripping twists and unexpected outcomes. The characters are well drawn and credible. This is a book not to be put down as it grabs the reader from the first page. I strongly recommend it.

Tallulah and Zach are teenage parents to a baby they adore. Lula's mum is babysitting for them while they have a night out and the pair never return. The book skips in time to events of the night they disappeared and what Lula's mum is going through now with raising the baby. The story is told from a few perspectives so it can be a little confusing alongside the time jumps but overall its a really gripping read. I really enjoy Lisa Jewell thrillers and this is another excellent and inventive novel from her.

I am a fan of Lisa Jewell books so was really excited to receive this ARC. I could not put this book down as I was so gripped by the story.
Kim is babysitting for her 19 year old daughter, Tallulah, and live in boyfriend, Zach, when they fail to come home. So begins the story, which moves through time so we learn about Tallulah before her disappearance and introduced to an array of characters.
I liked the character of Sophie, girlfriend to the new head teacher of the school which has links to the event. Sophie is a writer of detective novels and can't help getting swept up by events when she finds a sign by the back gate saying 'dig here'
Another brilliant book by Lisa Jewell, and one of my favourites! Highly recommend!

I started this book mid morning and literally couldn't put it down until completing it a few hours later. Full of twists and turns; full of drama and suspense. It is the best book I've read in a while. Lisa Jewell at her finest. Covid lockdown obviously unleashed a beast. BRILLIANT book. I just wish I'd been able to make it last longer.
