This book is an essential tool for anyone who menstruates, including those seeking help as your cycle transitions into perimenopause and menopause.
Often we are battling a medical system that pushes medication over slower healing modalities. Loftus and Radomski show that nutrition can be simple, affordable, and comforting. The recipes are easily modified to fit dietary restrictions or personal tastes. Recipes include breakfast, drinks, dinners, and desserts. The majority of the recipes could be made ahead, frozen, and pulled for meal planning. Ingredients are common at local grocery stores without having to outsource to online ordering.

I love the concept of this book and giving yourself healthy eating with your cycle. These dishes were absolutely amazing and the stories attached were wonderful to read! This will be a must have on my shelf once it is published! I tried the Rosemary and Roasted Garlic Butternut Squash Soup and it was delicious! The recipe was very easy to follow and it didn't take that long!

Like a Love Letter from Your Best Friend

The moment I opened this cookbook I knew it would be different. From the love-filled words that jump off the page to the practical life advice, Jenna and Devon really delivered. The book reads like a love letter from your best friend filled with grace and reminders to take care of yourself before you try to take care of others. The recipes are both nutritious and easy to follow. I will definitely be adding this book to my gift-giving list; it's a must-read!

I really enjoyed this book. I like the mix of health, science and recipes. I've tried a couple of recipes so far and they were lovely. I'm intending to purchase this book when it is released in October as I like referring to it from time to time throughout my cycle.

While trying to navigate this hormone world, I LOVED this book so much. The organization by cycles, the amazing recipes, beautiful photos, and just all around empowering messages make this book a must have for all the women in your life. This would be a wonderful gift for a girl just learning about her cycle.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this cookbook but I was pleasantly surprised. It has a good amount of tasty recipes that I would be interested in trying any time. I liked the reasonings listed for the different recipes and the books had great pictures.

A lovely cookbook. I loved the concept, the structure and the photography. I also loved the little rituals it sets out. Definitely one for anyone's shelf, whether you're into menstrual cycle awareness or not. Very easy to use and well written. I just wish I had it in physical copy! Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this review copy.

So many great recipes for a healthier lifestyle and even some yummy treats! For sure going to follow these when my menstration comes back! I am 7 months postpartum and can’t wait to nourish. My body with this goodness!

This is a lovely cookbook. The recipes all look amazing, the food photography is beautiful, and the supplemental bits are informative.
The book is divided into four part (menstruation, follicular, ovulation, luteal) with recipes meant to support the reader during those phases. Each section also contains a few short reads on different rituals to partake in during the reader's cycle.
I'm very tempted to purchase a hard copy of this cookbook because I think it would be great to pull out when I'm feeling particularly deep into a certain part of my cycle. It also makes me really want to visit the Moon Cycle Bakery!

I've been more aware and interested in my cycle and how hormones affect my daily life since having my first child 2 years ago; I really enjoyed reading this book. There's background information that is easy to read and digest, it's not preachy or unrealistic and the recipes sound genuinely delicious. There's further suggested reading and it gives full credit/explanations to the theories and ideas it explains.
Whilst the book is clearly written by Americans with an American market in mind, it is one of the more accessible books I've read as a Brit and I don't find this hinders the recipes or how to interpret the book at all!

I've already pre-order this cook book, that's how strongly I feel about it! A woman's body is complicated and changes through out her cycle, and her life. This book goes way beyond recipes (though I wish there were more pictures!) and breaks down your menstrual cycle and what your body needs. It discussing listening to your body and your own needs, how to fuel and feed your body as well as your soul. Anyone who considers themselves a "wise woman" should add this to their collection.

The recipes are thought out, show the importance of eating seasonally, listening to your body, eating whole/real foods, and they sounds just delicious. There are maybe two or three recipes that I wouldn't try, simply because I'm not a fan of the main ingredient, but that doesn't mean I can't adapt it to something else.

Don't think twice about whether you should pick this book up. Just do it. You'll be happy you did.

The Moon Cycle Cookbook is an easy but amazingly productive read about how to holistically support one of the most important aspects of womanhood: the menstrual cycle.

While jam packed with delicious nourishing eats it is so much more than a log of period supportive recipes and nutritional titbits. It’s also a must read guide for women wanting to learn more about a phenomenon that governs most of their lives but all to often remains shrouded in ignorance, confusion, pain and fear.

This holistitic nutritional guide to well balanced periods deftly demystifies the process. Across 4 chapters that correspond to the 4 key phases of the menstrual cycle and TCM concepts of the seasons it provides answers and tasty nutritional solutions to perennial questions and challenges.

As is said knowledge is power. This makes The Moon Cycle Cookbook the perfect gift, be it for yourself, your daughter, sister, BFF or partner. Recommended.

It’s August 2021 and reading about the menstrual cycle feels especially fraught. Will the author make awkward, exclusionary comments about people who menstruate? It shouldn’t be that a reader interested in the menstrual cycle and eating well should have to conduct an epic background check before purchasing a book. But we do and I did and I’m relieved to report that The Moon Cycle offers exactly what the title implies. A relatively non judgemental overview of the science and some nice recipes, for when you’re feeling a bit delicate and your period tracking app keeps beeping at you.

The Moon Cycle is separated into four sections, one for each phase of the menstrual cycle. Each section opens with a snapshot of what’s happening to your body during this phase, what foods are best to eat, a couple of rituals, a poem and then some recipes. The authors also link these phases to aspects of Chinese and alternative medicine, which went completely over my head but were still interesting, without becoming too Earth Mother Higher Power about the whole business.

Devon Loftus and Jenna Randomski write in an easy, engaging way that makes every sentence sound like it’s accompanied by a nice cup of tea. There’s an element of Pippa Middleton Party Book about some of the tips they suggest for readers (“take a trip”, “plan a date night”) but it’s still a nice read, with plenty of good reminders about setting boundaries and caring for yourself. A mild content warning: the book appears to be written from the assumption that only cis women mensturate, but it steers clear of Gender Critical red flags.

And how were the recipes? Pretty good! The Moon Cycle is bursting with a wide variety of recipes, including food for every kind of diet: from carnivore to gluten-free, lactose-free vegan. The recipes themselves are written in the same comfortable, straightforward style as the rest of the book, with a good ratio of hearty mains, healthy snacks, decadent sweets and restorative drinks. That said, this is definitely not a book for a time (or cash) poor. Recipes can include dozens of ingredients, everything seems to be made from scratch and mentions or leftovers or easy substitutes are minimal.

I tried the vegan Mac and Cheese which was possibly the best thing I have ever made. The recipe was easy to follow and none of the ingredients were particularly outlandish, but it did take a couple of hours and left me as drained as the pasta. Overall The Moon Cycle is a nice, cosy read that doesn’t tax the reader too much and provides plenty of delicious inspiration for the next time you have a stocked fridge, plenty of energy and 5-6 uninterrupted hours.

The Moon Cycle Cookbook is an amazingly beautiful photographs, a holistic guide for your well being during menstral cycles and a book full of lyrical prose that will delight any reader.

The images in this book play to the emotions, and I found them calming and captivating. This book stresses the importance of creating rituals, medications, yoga, creativity, and how to shop on a budget for creating beautiful nutritional meals during ovulation, menstruation, periomenopause, menopause and post menopause.

The reader is guided through the moon phases with luscious photography as they learn about foods that support hormones, sooth cramps, reduce pain, are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and provide comfort.

I loved this book and rarely give a full 5 stars! Worth the read!

I love the idea of a cookbook focused on women's needs - and our health.

This book has a wealth of information on the menstrual Cycle and lots of recipes to support good menstrual health.

I'm a bit unsure if I want 'rituals' in amongst my recipes but I like the fact they're there and that the authors have been brave and bold about what they're doing.

So many delicious recipes customized for different times throughout women’s cycles, as well as the phases of the moon and each of the seasons. There are even tips for various ailments associated with menstruation such as cramps - a bath salt recipe is included that is divine.
Packed with knowledge and sense of community, I loved this book and highly recommend it.

What a great resource! I found the nutritional information to be wise and sound - there’s a lot of concise, yet informative, facts on what types of foods can help support a female’s body during each phase of the menstrual cycle.
Further, the breakdown and explanation of each phase was so helpful! As was the details on the phases we go through during our lifetime. This is definitely something every woman should understand. For me, I particularly found the notes on a female’s body during perimenopause to be interesting and helpful.

Somehow, the authors squeeze the basics of so many body supporting and immune boosting foods into this book. There’s plenty of resources in the back to continue your learning, if desired.

The recipes are easily doable and sound delicious. I can’t wait to try a few and I’m very interested to try them aligned with the proper timing during my menstrual cycle.

There are a few ideas in the Rituals sections that are not for me. But, that’s okay! They don’t take away from the biggest and most important aspects of the book, in my opinion.

This is really more than a cookbook. I think every female should grab a copy of this. Bonus: the layout, the photos, and the general aesthetic of this book are gorgeous and peaceful.

Nearly every recipe in this book sounds delicious and nourishing. While I have just finished reading and have not yet had an opportunity to test any, I am eager to get started. I appreciate the clearly well-researched nutritional information that accompanies each section; beyond informing the section's recipes, I can use the nutritional guidance to inform my eating more generally. Bonus! I wish I had read this book years ago when renting a shared house and sharing meals with a community of women. I think we would have enjoyed and benefitted from cooking from this book together. Kudos and congratulations to the authors, as well as my thanks!

So often we look to our diet to help us with things like inflammation, gastric issues and so on. How have we never truly looked at our diet as a way to respond to and ease the cycles through life? This book does exactly that and it’s an interesting take. From maiden, to mother, to crone, there are recipes and dietary suggestions to help ease the body through each phase of life.

I found this to be more than a cookbook and wish I had found it 30 years ago. As the saying goes, better late than never. I think all women should read this to get a better idea on how to deal with their cycles and along their diet to help ease any problem they may have. I’ll be sharing this book with the mown in my life and I know they’ll each find something relevant to themselves. Kudos to the authors.
