DNF @ 60%

This was a case of a "It's not you, it's me" type of book DNF-ing scenario.

I'm a huge fan of angel-themed paranormal books, especially when it's leaning heavily on the darker and gritty side of these beings. So this book definitely piqued my interest from the blurb alone.

While this was a novella recommended to start off the author's main series, I just really had a hard time getting into the story. It felt like there was too much information being given to the readers that by around the middle of the book, I was still full of questions, confused states, and a head filled with concepts that I didn't know how to process or visualize.

I'll probably check out the author's other works in the future, and I would not stop other readers who might pick this one up and they might end up loving it more than I did.

Meet the Watcher, Archangels, fallen angels, Goddess, and of course, Lucifer. All tangled up in love, betrayal, fights, loss, wicked plans, and tears.

Busy collecting prayers, on top of watching over the Archangels, it's another day for Jude Thaddeus to prove his perfection to Father God. He intends to uphold his impeccable record and become an Archangel. Nothing must come between him and his desire.

This novella did not make me want to continue the series. I do like a good Lucifer story, but the novella felt heavy and boring. it felt like 90% of the time, nothing really happend it was all just talk.

Lost Angels is the prequel to Tatenda Creed's The Lost Archangels series. I am not really a prequel kind of reader. I feel like prequels are for people who already know about the world and are just a way to bridge in information that is needed without info dumping.

This prequel felt like that. It's only 132 pages but took me more than a week to read it. I felt I didn't know the characters, didn't understand what was going on, and felt we were thrown into the middle of the story without context. The story once through it is good. I will assume it provides great background info for going forward in the series. But I feel this book will be best read after ready Book One in the series. I struggled with the world building here. There is so much packed into the 130 pages that it felt off balance. This is likely because I haven't read Book One.

Although I usually like book with religious aspects and angels, this read felt heavy. I wasn't really connection to any of the characters, although I can see who I will like with more pages. I feel this novella would have done better with another 50 or so pages. The writing is beautiful and Tatenda is very descriptive. I see the potential of the longer books and will be giving book one, The Seer, a chance. But, I would recommend reading this novella after being introduced to the world through the main books of the series.

A special thank you goes out to Book Throne, & NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book for review!

This was a great prologue and it made me want to continue to read the series and see what happens to all the characters.

The book is multi perspective. The main prospective is an Angel that is a watcher of the Archangels and the other prospective is of Lucifer. This allows you to see both sides of the fight and to me helps with showing the fight is not black and white but there are shades of grey on both sides.

I am looking forward to reading more in this series and looking for any other books that Tatenda Creed have written.

I wasn't really sure what to expect with this book but the idea of angels and a changing of the traditional Lucifer story had me interested. Overall, I didn't love this book as I felt the world-building needed more time and maybe if this had happened, the characters would have been deeper. I understood the characters and most of their motivations for taking certain actions, but wished I had felt more compelled to care about them or be more invested in their story. Still an interesting story for those who find the topic interesting, but don't expect the book to blow you away.

This story was very hard for me to get interested in..... The very first chapter I was struggling to follow the transitions between characters and the dialogue was very flat.

This is the prequel to The Lost Archangels series and frankly as it’s a new author to me and is about Angels I was very excited to read it. It states that it’s a paranormal romance story but I have to state it certainly didn’t feel that way.
Essentially this is a short story charting an attempt by Lucifer to kill his brothers but in such a way that any fallout will not rain down on him. The Archangels have a Watcher, Jude and he is there to protect them which felt odd as I’d imagined Archangels to be all powerful and really top of the food chain. Yet the Archangels here are predominantly spoiled and selfish. I honestly found it difficult to connect with any of them really and if blunt I think I actually preferred Lucifer ! Jude dominates this book and he’s desperate to fulfil his duties but oddly had ulterior motives because as much as he wished to serve he did come over as being extremely jealous because he wasn’t an Archangel himself. This ends in such a way that I can easily imagine how this series could progress and perhaps redeem these characters who are lost in time. Sadly I do not think that I will continue as I do prefer stories with characters that I like or at least can empathise with.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
