A sad story and shows how the police can sometimes get it wrong by not listening! Glad it ended well.

I really enjoyed this book! Well written but definitely a slow burn type of thriller! The main character started as a bit unlikeable but then you realize it's actually sad. She is very depressed and creepy. Recommend!

I found this one really interesting. The story flowed well and kept my attention. I really enjoyed the writing style and the twists and turns. I’ll definitely be following this author to see what other ones they have written! I would recommend this one to a friend.

The strong lead character is mysterious and a bit different than what I expected, which made it fun to try and sleuth out what was going to happen. The pace was a bit slower than I expected for this genre, some parts felt a bit disjointed, and the ending was a bit predictable.

Well-written and very entertaining thriller. My favorite aspect was how well the author captured depression and grief in the main character. No particularly new ground covered here but on the whole a well done and engaging read. The narration of the audiobook was excellent.

Very interesting novel thriller from the viewpoint of a neighbor living downstairs in a London flat.
It is a smartly structured mystery which captivates you from beginning to end. .

Thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The story focused on the journey of Suzie after the death of her husband as well as the disappearance of her neighbour Emily.
We were given little nuggets of information every so often that kept the momentum going until the last two chapters which were full of action.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the first part but the second part seemed rushed and disjointed almost like the author just wanted to hurry up and finish with writing the story.

I wanted to like this book. The characters development was not good. The focus is mostly on Suzie and not so much on the girl upstairs. The plot and pace of the story are painfully slow. The slowness of the story progression did intrigue me in the beginning; however, it drags like that for 90% of the book without any development. There's no hook to the storyline and the characters are bland. The idea of the story was good, but somewhere along the way it just came together wrong.

Suzie is always a loner and you can't help but feel she is a bit of a recluse, surrounding herself with books in her London flat. She likes to hear the hustle and bustle outside but also doesn't like noise especially from Emily in the flat upstairs. Then she takes a,package in for Emily and goes upstairs to give it to her, the door is slightly open and so she goes in! Emily is missing and the something about the flat feels wrong. Where has she gone? Has something happened to her? Suzie wants to help find out, but just how far will she go to find the truth? And what has happened to her in the past?

I did enjoy this book but I thought it was quite average.

The plot was odd - you’re led to believe that Suzie hates her upstairs neighbour yet she’s at the front of the investigation of her disappearance. If you hated your neighbour, you’d be glad to see the back of them surely.

The ending with the reveal was wrapped up pretty quickly - within 2 or 3 short chapters. The killer also made no sense and the motive was never revealed. It was just ‘X is the killer, case solved’ and it wasn’t followed up with anything - even a chapter in their pov to show what happened would’ve been good!

Loved this book, a great story and page turner as I wanted to find out what happened to Emily. Highly recommended.

This is a great psychological thriller and will keep you up all night desperately reading for the next revelation. Loved it

From the outset when we meet Suzie in her downstairs flat in London it is abundantly clear that something is seriously wrong with her life. The description of her flat screams squalor as Suzie has just left everything go – the description of the ‘fresh’ air leaking through her window shouts pollution from traffic and worst of all the abuse of the sounds of London, people rushing past, car engines jarring, horns beeping; noise, noise, noise.

Surrounding herself with books, cushioned in her/their chair, wine at the ready constantly she has retreated from life, rejecting calls from her family and friends; the only intrusion is the sound of her new neighbour moving into the flat upstairs – Emily has arrived bringing with her the sounds of a young woman excited to be in London and living her dream life.

Then the sounds from upstairs disappear and Suzie discovers Emily is missing, but this is London and nobody seems either to notice this; or care.

What did I enjoy about the book? Well, I became involved/concerned for Emily. An isolated life through choice, preferring to retreat into loneliness in her depression and seek to understand her grief and fate. It is quite a dark story and in some places I wasn’t quite sure whether it worked (the Emily/Alice relationship for example). I was keen to learn what had happened to Emily although anxious about her rejection of support from her family.

Good characters, good plot development, interesting premise – in my book this added up to a very satisfying read.

This review is hard to write because there were many things I didn’t think I would like. The premise sounded amazing - and it was. It was written in a really clever way, mainly from the POV of poor Suzie, widowed, odd and a bit of a nosy neighbour, I found it quite hard to empathise with her, or really get on board! She is obviously going through a trauma, so on I went reading it thinking how I wasn’t sure if I even liked the book, when BANG - I was sobbing! Feeling every bit of her pain! And then the noisy neighbour disappears! And suzie really just wants to find out what happened! By the end I had a girl crush on Suzie! Excellent, original and I can’t recommend it enough!

This took me a couple of chapters to get into, but once I did I read the whole lot in one sitting. Both chilling and yet dad this book covers a gamet of emotions. A great story.

"I heard Emily before I saw her."- From the first sentence I was intrigued in this story. Suzie is still grieving her husband's death
and is living in their London apartment. She is sad, and she refuses to go home and leave London, the city she hates. She is never at peace because her neighbour Emily is too loud. She can hear her all the time.
After Emily's birthday party she barely hears her until she doesn't hear her at all. She becomes concerned and wants to help her after the police fails to do so.
I liked how we can see the character development, the Suzie from the beginning was sad and refused to change. At the end she helped to solve Emily's case and she finally went home. It was sad reading about both of them, but I'm still happy that in a way Suzie got her happy ending. When no one was there to care about Emily, Suzie decided she was the one that is going to do so. I'm sad that Emily died, because it would be interesting seeing the two of them after everything.

I enjoyed this book, and it was an easy read.

I couldn't quite figure out what Suzie's issues were at first, it was obvious she was in some emotional pain but it took a bit to connect the dots.

I'd likely read another book by this author.

This is the story of Suzie who lives in a ground floor flat in central London, and who finds her upstairs neighbour Emily very inconsiderate and noisy. But when Emily suddenly stops being so noisy and appears to have gone missing, Suzie gets concerned and decides to investigate further. It was well written but I thought it could have been trimmed back a bit, there was a lot of filler that could have been made snappier. Emily's story was an interesting one but I've read other books that felt quite similar in the storyline
