Everything that happened to Maddy made my skin crawl. I would have liked to hear a perspective from the main group so that we could see what was actually going on inside of their camp along with Maddy's. What a horrifying situation to be trapped in. This is a fast paced thriller even though it takes place over a year. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a tense atmospheric read. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat. I read the entire book in one sitting - it was that good.

I highly recommend this book!

This book was so well-written!! It started a bit slow but it ended so unexpectedly good! Fast-paced, thrilling, and thought-provoking!!
Survivor x 10!

8 contestant are in the coast of Scotland for one year. From here they will need to forage for food, build shelters, ultimately building their own community now that the supposed world itself has come to an end.

It all starts off well and people are chipping in doing anything they can to help but as the months progress, food starts to dwindle, and once the winter weather begins to set in the tempers start to flare. 💥💥💥💥💥

Eight Strangers left on an island to survive on their own. They will learn what they are truly capable of when worse comes to worse.

This book had survivor meets Blair witch vibes. Although none of the characters were extremely likable I did want Maddy to overcome the bullying she faced with the others. The ending definitely took a turn I didn’t fully see coming. That’s what I love about thrillers is a surprising ending that could’ve went in many different directions.

Highly recommend for thriller/suspense lovers.

You hear about a new reality show where a group of people are stranded on an island. The world around you has stopped so there's nothing to go back too. Would you sign up?

Eight people do that. Four women and four men. Including our main character Maddy. Maddy really does not have anything to go back for anyways. Her parents were her only friends and they have both recently passed away. So Maddy is ready to figure herself out and thinks this is the way to go.

I'm a hell no about being stranded with no anything but I LOVE reading the whole stranded somewhere books.

This island though? You can't just be a butthole and get voted off. You have to stay. Even if everyone turns on each other and their true natures appear.
This was gooood. Even though all the characters including our girl Maddy are assholes. You gotta keep turning the pages on this one to see what happens.

I love locked room thrillers and knowing that 8 strangers were being sent to a remote island to live for a year immediately had me excited.

Eight strangers are expected to play out an apocalyptic scenario on a remote island and behave as if they are the only survivors for a new reality TV show - personal GoPro units and hidden cameras will capture the events that unfold.
What starts as a group united quickly becomes a group divided, after that its a game of survival.
Maddy is our sole narrator, usually I prefer multi POV but having just one characters point of view really added to the tension and mystery of the story. I enjoyed Maddy as the MC, she had the Katniss-ish survival skills and know how that had you rooting for her throughout.
This was a great suspense thriller to escape in to. While not entirely "believable" at times - I feel as though multiple red flags to outside world/producers would have not gone unnoticed or ignored - it was extremely entertaining and at times quite claustrophobic in its hold. The ending played out great too.

Many islands become uninhabited as survival became more difficult. It is hardly surprising that a reality tv show company decided to set a group of people on an island for a year to see how they coped with the harsh conditions. What resulted was a powerful and emotional race to survive,

A well crafted novel that will set your hair on end!

Maddy has applied to go on a new reality TV show about people 'starting again.' To be on a remote island with 7 other strangers for 1 year, each using their individual skills and to live as a community.

However, when the community turn against you and you are cast out, you must learn to survive on your own.

Lord of the flies meets Animal Farm

This novel at times gave me palpitations in my chest, I had to put it down and walkway. I found things very triggering. However, that didn't mean I didn't like the book I found it exciting and scary! And loved every minute!

Each character was unique and realistic; as the reader, I definitely had a love /hate relationship with each of them; and wanted Maddy to do what she did quicker.

If a book can put fear, intrigue and determination into you, it is very well written!

Goodwin gives us an intense thriller which had my heart palpitating and my insides scared!! A must-read for all thriller lovers!

5/5 stars...
This book was amazing. I was on my edge of the seat.
The writing was so good. After I finished reading it, I literally had to remind myself that I was not on an island.
The book was really fast paced and just sooo good. I really don't want to say more as I don't want to give anything away.
The ending was soooo good. I did not see that coming at all.

I'm not going to lie, this booked stressed me out! I honestly don't think I have been this stressed out with a book from all of the characters and situations before.

The concept for this book is very interesting. There have been several books based on people being stranded on an island, but I haven't read one where the people willingly chose to go to a secluded island to try and survive for a year for a TV show with no contact with the outside world. You can easily see how this would turn out bad.

I think what I struggled with the most was the dynamic between the MC Maddy and the other Islanders. She never stood up and defended herself. Then the manipulation and undermining of the antagonists killed me. It got me so strung out and irritated that I almost quit reading. It just didn't stop. This book really made you feel what Maddy was going through, which is good and bad for me in this situation.

The last 20% of the book was great. Things really changed and got interesting. I can't say too much since it would give it away, but it really became a thriller.

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

After reading so many excellent reviews, I was more than excited to receive this ARC from NetGalley and can't believe how enthralled and involved I became. This is definitely one of my top 5 this year. When you feel like Lord of the Flies published in 1954 captured everything we needed to know about the defect of our society...that we are all too human...kick it up to an adult level with the development of rules and a system of organization and you will still find violence and brutality. This book is developed on the most deceptive simplicities: food, shelter and love. When those are altered, fear and survival mode change into a gripping, & suspenseful page-turner.

Eight adults ...4 men, 4 women...agreed to take part in a study on society & human behavior while stranded on an uninhabited Buidseach Island off the coast of Scotland. This seclusion will deliver solace and rest from the frills of today's society and prepare them for the apocalypse. LOL...right?? They have one year until the ship returns and prove they can perform as a functional society with very little means and talented adults to make it work. ....What if the ship doesn't return?

With a few care packages delivered and 2 cameramen on sight, as well as fitted for their own personal camera to ensure footage later to be shared via screen, let the fun begin!

Maddy, has skills to contribute as a former botanist. She has recently lost her parents and lacks social skills, so just as the young will do, the adults begin to ostracize the weak and form a mob mentality. This character is the only POV you experience and it is enough with the sadistic views of the others compounding on the atmospheric plot. I felt for her as if it were myself and the situations we incur and cringed at the group's scheme.

Shifting from present to past, the anxiety builds with an interview of Maddy, as a survivor, revealing most of the islanders dead. You will be gripping this book until the end with twists woven throughout with the need to survive. I was disgusted with the heartless, human behavior when the food dwindled and winter approached. At what costs would you expend to survive? Check out other reviews on this one. I can't do it enough justice!! You must read it!!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for this outstanding ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was such a good book. I don't typically get into suspenseful novels too much, but this one grabbed me and didn't let go until the end. I have been recommending it to all my patrons and have had to buy several more copies to accommodate the demand.

Stranded by Sarah Goodwin was Just superb! from start to finish. The Narrator was: Esme Sears and she was 10/10.

When eight strangers, all sign up to be contestants, to live on an Island off of the coast of Scotland. They have to survive for a year with no internet, no social media, mobile phones, electricity etc and most of all - no place to live. They only allowed to take limited number of supplies for them to help with their survival! This could be a foraging books, dried foods, spices etc. They have to survive and work as a team on this island and use all the resources around them to survive the next year. They have No contact with the outside world and all they have to wear a solar camera at all times. This will film them on how they are surviving together.
There are two camera men on the island but they have No contact with the eight contestants!

The eight contestants all arrive on the island and the first thing they have to do is find shelter or make shelter. Only working as a team will help them all survive the year ahead!!!!

Wow!!! this audio book was brilliant and had me hooked. Its fast paced throughout and had me thinking how are they going to survive the year with No food, No shelter etc. They have to live off the island of berries, mushrooms and plants etc.

How are they going to survived?

Are they all going to get on together?

Are any of the eight contests going to survive the year and make it back to home land?

OMG!!!!!

One thing I really loved about this book My hubby ended up sitting with me in our garden with a several cups of tea listening to Stranded and he even enjoyed it, whilst topping up our tans!

A wonderful book about a social experiment that goes completely wrong. Maddy is desperate for a change after losing her parents. She joins a study that looks at what happens when a group of 8 strangers become stranded on a remote island. In this case only the strong will survive. While Maddy is a unreliable narrator I didn't mind seeing the whole story from her perspective. I recommend this book for anyone who wants a page turner and enjoys fast paced books.

What could possibly go wrong when 8 individuals are selected to participate in a year long social experiment/reality show, living together on an isolated island? Everything! This book had some nice twists and turns and was a very fast-paced story. My only complaint was that some parts really weren’t fleshed out enough. I wanted more about the cameramen, the boat and the ending. Nonetheless, it was still a good read.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a reality show based on 'survival of the fittest' theme where 8 strangers with diverse skill sets are put together on an island for a year and how they survive and come out alive. But not everyone comes out alive.
It takes time to remember who is who as there are 8 characters but by the end their deeds keep them memorable. I liked how the characters were made unique and how some of their traumatic experiences were expressed. The ending was rushed and left with more questions than answers. There were some obvious plot holes which made it difficult for me to like the book more. Also, I expected this to be a murder mystery and it is absolutely not.
If you are into reality shows like Survivor, you'd probably like this more.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for providing me with a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

I expected this to be a murder-mystery type thriller rather than a story about survival.
The characters have opted to isolate themselves on an island for a TV show (not very original) and the story follows how things turn desperate for them.

Not really my cup of tea unfortunately.

This book is Survivor on steroids! When you watch Survivor, you kind of know what to expect, but nothing is as it seems in this book, and you have to survive on your wits from the beginning! Recommended for anyone who likes a read that keeps you entertained until the end!

Just what lengths would you go to be on a reality TV show? For that matter, and maybe even more interesting, how far will the producers go to have a hit show!?

Think Survivor…but on steroids!

Eight strangers, deposited on a remote island to fully live off the grid. Do they have what it takes to build a community? Come together as a team to successfully coexist? Or will it become every man for himself, a survival of the fittest? Leaving the weaker members in jeopardy.

Maddy is thrilled to be chosen as one of the contestants. She’s lived an extremely sheltered life under the wing of her parents. Now with the chance to be on her own, she’s anxious to jump in with both feet. But given her overly-protective back-ground, can she fit in? Or is she bringing too much drama and unresolved issues?

Sarah Goodwin writes a chilling unputdownable thriller that will keep you super-glued to the pages as the storyline plays out. Precisely what the producers of this reality show wanted! Lol!🍿📺

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK.

From reading the other reviews my rating and opinion of this book are well out of sync but I promised a fair and honest review so here goes.
The contestants are the most obnoxious lot you could want to meet up with never mind spending months with on a remote island with no means of escape. It all just seemed so unlikely especially as on the second day there they followed a stream that “ suddenly started going uphill vey steeply”. Well that is worthy of a tv show on its own.
