Thank you #netgally
Great book and a good insight into sitting meditation. Some good reminders about thought patterns and the end result taking time to get there.

Definitely good as a refresher or beginners guide.

We do have time to be good to ourselves x

Not your average book, this is meant to be read in sections while you put into practice what you learn in one part prior to moving onto the next. I really look forward to using this book more to help me further my journey.

With illustrations and vibrant colors, this book is sure to keep your attention while helping you along this path in your life.

Sitting Comfortably by Swami Saradananda is a beautifully illustrated book.
Having dome meditation for a very long time I had never really thought about my positioning and how to place my hands. This book covered all of it and was extremely helpful.
A book that you would go back to repeatedly for different ideas for poses, breathing techniques and how to take your mindfulness off the mat and into everyday life.

Thanks to Netgalley and Watkins for the ARC Copy. My review is my own opinion.

As someone who suffers back pain, but also tries to practice mindfulness meditation, this book is full of useful advise. There wasn't really anything new in here for me personally, but I imagine that this book will be helpful for those who want to try getting into the practice of meditation, but don't have access to someone they can learn from face to face.

The illustrations fit the overall aesthetic of the book, the layout is easy to read. The instructional photography feels a little too stock photo to me; I would have enjoyed seeing some that feel more like they were taken for this book. They do do the job of showing all the how-tos, however. The color scheme is attractive, and doesn't make reading difficult, the way some color choices can end up doing.

All in all, a good beginner's guide, with some pointers that are useful for those who already have this practice.

This book really gave me a lot to think about in terms of meditation. There is background explanations, guidelines, and best practices that are beneficial if you ever wanted to start or continue your meditation journey. My only negative is that the material seems a bit densely presented at times, and that did make it a struggle to read.

I really enjoyed this how-to book on meditation. The reading was light, informative, and made me think deeply about the pauses I need to take in order to successfully meditate. It also helped me evaluate why I want to meditate in the first place--it's not about achieving a blank state of mind, but more or less coming to an unequivocal peace that allows you to wipe the slate clean and start fresh for the day. We do it while we sleep and dream, and we can do it while awake. I suggest this book for anyone interested (even just curious) about self-care and meditation practices.

I really liked the drawings and the colour of the book it was really vibrant. The pictures break up the writing. I found meditation hard so this book is very useful it talks about the physical side of meditation it tells you how to meditate and gives you suggestions how not to fall asleep which is something I struggle with . I like how it shields you how to sit in the pictures and how to ground you self. I have found this book very useful and I will keep coming back to it.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

I received a complimentary copy from Watkins Publishing through NetGalley. What I liked most about this book was it wasn't a sit down and read book. It was a read and put into practice one step at a time. I find that where it is broken into chapters with great illustrations, it is a book that is going to help me in my journey as I move forward. There is a lot of information here and breathing exercises is the most helpful for me right now. I think it changes as the events in life changes because different days brings me to different chapters.

As a person who did yoga before the pandemic hit, I enjoyed learning about it. This book is one of the most beautifully illustrated I've read for a long time. The information is easy to follow, and the photographs are beneficial. I'd love a hardback copy when it is out. Excellent book!

Last week on my blog I wrote about meditating. Like many people I started with the Headspace App, and now I use Insight Timer to support my practice. I have also done a couple of mindfulness courses through Coursera. So I was happy to receive a free review copy of Sitting Comfortably by Swami Saradananda from NetGalley, as the premise of the book is that being physically uncomfortable can prevent people from meditating, and this book attempts to address that issue. I have mixed feelings about this book - it is very clear and well set out. It runs through how one should sit, and how one can prepare for this. It has clear illustrations. My main issue is I'm not sure who this book is for. The author worries that being physically uncomfortable is a barrier for sitting, but for me it would be strict standards about having to sit completely upright, or in a completely quiet place, including blocking out the sound of traffic in my house. trust me, if I can sleep through it, and live in that noise, I should be able to meditate in it. It also irritated me how concerned she was about falling asleep, down to the idea that we shouldn't support our backs while meditating because we might fall asleep. I can barely fall asleep lying down, in the dark with my eyes closed. I don't have an issue with accidentally falling asleep. Ever. So the little things bothered me, but this book might be a good next step for a casual meditator who wants to take their practice up a notch. I'm not sure that's me. Still I'm glad I took the time to read tis book, it has given me pause to consider what I am doing and if and how I want to change that.

This book was beautiful, and I loved the illustrations. Would genuinely love to have some of the illustrations as artwork on my wall.
I loved the premise of the book, and it is certainly filled with lots of information. Things I didn't know before. However I did find that it was quite repetitive at times - particularly in the section about how to sit.
I did enjoy this book, and learnt something new but I have read other books on this topic that I have preferred.
