I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

A fast-paced page-turner and another great book from Sue Watson. I never knew what was coming next and The Forever Home had me hooked until the last page.

I'm mixed on my reviews for The Forever Home.

On the one hand, the writing flows so smoothly, the story was really digestible and I kept wanting to pick it up. On the other hand, this was not a thriller. The plot is more of a family drama and it very predictable, apart from one small section near the end.

Don't expect this will knock your socks off, because it won't. BUT it is still a really enjoyable read and one that I would pick up a sequel for.

Sue Watson lifts the lid on what lurks beneath the smiling façade of even the happiest of marriages in her latest nerve-twisting thriller, The Forever Home.

Carly adores her beautiful home high on the Cornish cliffs. Having taken on the house when it was a derelict wreck, Carly and her husband Mark had painstakingly renovated and redecorated the house and transformed it into a breath-taking masterpiece. Their hard work had paid off, with Mark having become famous thanks to all the work they had put into their house. Carly simply cannot imagine living elsewhere. She has made so many wonderful memories in this beautiful house. It is a sanctuary and a refuge from the outside world – and a place where everyone’s secrets can stay hidden. Carly imagines she will live in this house for the rest of her life – until Mark drops a bombshell that changes her life forever.

Mark wants to walk out on his marriage to Carly because he has met someone else. Carly is naturally devastated, but having put so much blood, sweat and tears into her dream house she is not about to walk away from it all. If Mark wants to leave, he can pack his bags and go. She is staying put and she does not plan on going anywhere. However, someone is willing to do whatever it takes to drive her out of her home. As threats begin arriving at her door, it’s clear that there is an enemy far too close to home who wants her out of this house and out of Mark’s life for good.

Carly once felt safe in her forever home, but she needs to watch her step as her sanctuary becomes a vicious death trap where there is evil lurking round every corner…

Tense, creepy and oh so terrifying, Sue Watson’s The Forever Home is a gripping thriller packed with twists and turns aplenty. Sue Watson knows how to keep her readers completely glued to the pages of her novel and just when they think they’ve got it all figured out, she pulls the rug out from under them and leaves them with their jaws on the floor.

A fast-paced chiller readers will struggle to put down, Sue Watson’s The Forever Home is a masterclass in edge of your seat suspense.

Thank you to Netgalley for proving the ARC in exchange for in honest review.
I really enjoyed this one!! A real psychological thriller, about a married couple, until the husband, Mark, tells Carly he’s leaving her for his girlfriend, Erin, who’s pregnant 🤯
Not exactly how she wanted to celebrate their 25 years together.
Their lives have been on display in front of television cameras thanks to the beautiful home given to get by her mother, which the couple has renovated.
When Carly noticing strange happenings at the house and receives an awful package, she assumes it’s Erin behind everything.
Carly only wants a fair settlement in the divorce but Erin wants her house!
Things get out of control when Erin goes missing and Carly is under suspicion.
Definitely a must read for thriller lovers!

Summary:

Carly and Mark are a famous couple known for their renovation projects and have become famous and made a living from renovating homes on television just like Chip and Joanna Gaines. Mark renovated their beautiful home on the Cornish coast where they raised their children.

Mark has been caught at their anniversary dinner with having a much younger girlfriend. Carly is devastated by this finding, but they must manage the media together to resist any backlash from their fans.

Once there is a missing person, all the parties must wonder who is responsible for the missing person.

My Thoughts:

Sue Watson has definitely proven to be one of my “go to” authors!

There were so many times I wished I could tell Carly that she needed to be more assertive and aggressive regarding all of the wrongs against her. This domestic drama kept me in suspense wondering if Carly could end up on top as I was hoping!!

Mark chooses the eve of their 25th wedding anniversary to announce he was having an affair (speak about your timing sucks). And it his wife's best friend. Carly has to tolerate the fallout, deal with the emotions of seeing her husband's new side piece getting all that she wants. Having been through it myself, I could identify with her on a lot of levels, and felt a lot of sympathy for her throughout the book.

A fantastic, gripping and creepy thriller! I loved the entire book from the very start to the very end. After Carly and Mark spend 25 years of marriage creating the perfect home for the viewers of their television series, it is unbelievable to think that all is not what it seems. After splitting up due to Mark cheating, how far will he go to ensure that his deceit is kept away from the public eye? And will Carly allow her own hidden secret to be revealed? How far will they both go to get what they want? Lots of shocks throughout which left me wanting the book to continue, even after I had finished!

An unusual plot with well defined characters but it was difficult at times to ascertain who could be trusted by who. Certainly a mixed up bunch.

Whoa. Is all I can say. Follow Carly (and Mark) and bring a bag of popcorn because you will NOT want to put this down until you’ve finished.

This is the first book I've read by Sue Watson but it won't be the last. Fast-paced, gripping and easy to read, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I couldn't have imagined the ending though. Full of twists and turns, a rant good read.

On Carly’s twenty fifth wedding anniversary her life is turned upside down. Secrets are revealed and lives are changed forever. Paranoia, betrayal and deception trigger a chain of events that may lead to a dream come true or Carly’s worst nightmare. Trust is put into question and loyalties are tested in this twisty psychological thriller. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.
