This was a really beautiful graphic novel. The story and particularly the relationship at its centre were so tender and devastatingly real. Having lost my own grandmother to Alzheimer's, this story made me bawl. The soft colours of the art strike such a beautiful and melancholy tone, perfect for the story it's telling. I loved both Clémence and her grandmother, and the queer rep and humour were added bonuses. I hope to get a copy of the French original to compare, but the English translation read smoothly and seemed really well done. Overall, really enjoyed this even if it did somewhat break my heart.

This was a very intense and heartfelt story about family, particularly about the grandparent-grandchild relationship. I really related to what the MC was feeling throughout the book and this made me connect a lot to the story. I liked the plot and the journey but I felt like things were a little hazy at the end and I don't really feel as if the ending fits well to the rest of the story, and I felt like some things weren't properly tied up at the end. This ended up being a lot darker than I thought it would be but nevertheless, I still enjoyed this graphic novel a lot and think that it has a pretty meaningful message.

All this graphic novel did was made me miss my Nana. I really got sucked into this found myself about to cry a few times. Such raw emotion captured in this. Great plot, good imagery, and the queer representation was a plus as well. Not going to lie, I need to watch some Disney movies to get happy again. This hit me in all the feels.

Forget Me Not is an incredibly written and illustrated hard hitting graphic novel following Clémence and her Grandmother, who has Alzheimer's Disease. Clémence breaks her Grandmother out of the nursing home where she lives so she can see her childhood home for the last time.

There are so many themes in this graphic novel which hit home, as I know what it's like to see someone lost to Alzheimer's Disease and how much it effects everybody who loves and cares for the person with the disease. Watching Clémence come to terms with the Grandmother she knew as a child, and the Grandmother she knows now cannot be compared as they're completely different on the inside even though on the outside nothing has changed.

Going on the road trip with Clémence and her Grandmother was incredibly tough at times, especially a specific scene with forget me nots; it was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

This is such a beautiful story. The plot is so bittersweet. You can really feel the love in the relationship between the characters. I really like the art. The soft pastel colors really set the somber tone and the grey for memories was a perfect fit.

the plot deals with a grandparent with alzheimers which is a topic I feel many people can relate to and it definitely brought to life my fear of my grandparents as well as my fear of getting old. 👵🏻👵🏻👵🏻👵🏻👵🏻 it does teach you to appreciate every moment and to look back on time spent with others and to make the most of that time.

the art is so incredible as well and makes me wish I could draw myself 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨

This story is about a compassionate grand daughter who sees the misery in her grandmother, and finally decides to risk it and take the elderly woman on an adventure--and what an adventure it is! Full of a few ups and many downs, it highlights the challenges in taking care of older relatives, especially when on the road.

Oh my heart...we will all grow older but it isn’t always easy to face that reality. This heartwarming tale of an impromptu and somewhat illegal road trip for Clementine and her Grammy was a quick read that pulled directly on the heartstrings. My heart feels so big after reading this, with both grief at the shortness of life and thankfulness for the beauty that can be found if we stop and acknowledge it.

I think it's fascinating to see a story about a strong-willed woman named Clémence rescuing her grandmother with dementia from a nursing home where she was unhappy. As someone who has a relative with dementia, reading this story hit close to home because of how the grandmother is unable to remember the present but instead concentrates on the past. It was even insightful to see what Clémence went through based on people calling her the d word just because of the way she looks and how she was in an abusive relationship with a guy. She also has a pretty strained relationship with her mum who’s a doctor and is a single parent. You just have to admire Clémence‘s character in this story like my god, you just hope she meets the right person in the end cause honestly, she is quite a tough bird who would beat the bad guys up no problem 😉

Anyways it is a really good graphic novel to check out and it also is a bit of tearjerker so get your tissues ready folks if you’re planning to read this!

This was so achingly beautiful. The art was stunning, Forget Me Not shows how Clemence, a student and actress, breaks her Grandmother out of a nursing home so they can go on a road trip. Obviously, breaking someone out (especially with health issues) is not a good thing to do but this was so beautiful and you can see why Clemence does what she does.

I don't recommend for younger readers as it handles heavy topics such as Alzheimer's.

What an emotional rollercoaster ride.

Originally written in French, this graphic novel follows a woman that decides to break her grandmother out of a care facility. She takes her on a road trip to the coast to visit her childhood home one last time. But traveling with a senior woman with Alzheimer’s disease has its challenges.

It is filled with beautiful and soft illustrations that contrast with the heavier themes of family relationships, Alzheimer’s, violence, homophobia, and grief.

I think that the biggest issue with this one is that it was too short. Certain topics and points of the story would have benefited by spending more time dwelling in them.

Personally, I’m not an avid graphic novel reader, yet I found myself enjoying this one, probably because the story is quite character-centered, which I always enjoy.

This was so so sooo beautiful. Not only the illustrations, but also the story and the characters. After reading this, I feel like all of us will want to go and hug our grandmas if we're lucky enough to have them with us <3
I feel like this graphic novel has everything you can ask for: amazing drawings, funny moments, a relatable story and very lovable but also realistic characters. I would recommend it to everyone. Plus, it's also a very light read in the sense that it isn't very long and you can read it in one sitting, which I love.
I also adored that the main character was part of the LGTBQ+ community, but her story didn't revolve around that or her coming out. It was just part of her identity and that was very refreshing!

This is a beautiful book, figuratively and literally. I had to pause on certain pages to soak in the colours and design. I also was able to connect to the characters as I had similar conversations with my great-uncle before he died of dementia. I was pleasantly surprised by the main character's journey too (I don't want to include any spoilers so will leave it at that!). Some passages made me teary-eyed. I read it in English thanks to NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, but would probably buy a French copy as a gift for some of my French relatives. Highly recommended!

Wow...I loved this.
It touched me on so many levels, as a mother, daughter, and once granddaughter I could relate to all characters.
This wonderful graphic comic is about an Alzheimer's grandma at a hospice, living a lonely and miserable life (art at this was exceptional to give us the feelings of emptiness and loneliness) Her granddaughter, Clemence, decides to "kidnap" her grandma.
From here on they both go on an adventure together, back into the past, a search for the happy times of childhood which both long for.
Now, this was wonderfully drawn, the story is so sweet and funny. I loved how grandma and grandaughter connected after a while.
It made me think of my grandma and my mother. How I wish I had had more time to make unique memories like this.
It made me so emotional at the end.

"Forget me Not" is a beautiful and emotional book about a young student and actress named Clémence who takes her grandmother suffering from Alzheimers on a road trip to her childhood home by the coast one last time. Her grandmother stays at a nursing home and is having a terrible time there, and Clémence doesn’t want to see her suffer any longer there. On their trip, they rekindle their bond and Clémence learns more about her grandmother’s life. We also see bits of Clémence’s past and how close she was to her grandparents when she was a child. The two get into all kinds of hilarious trouble together and, although it is a struggle sometimes to take care of her grandmother, they have a very memorable time.

Reading this made me very emotional (in a good way). It was so powerful seeing how willing Clémence was to fight for her grandmother’s happiness when her mother would not. I also loved seeing little pieces of the grandmother’s personality come through when Clémence would remind her of their time together in years prior. Clémence is such an amazing character and what she did was incredibly brave, and I look up to her. She was definitely my favorite. All of the characters in this felt very real to me. The bullying that Clémence endured from her peers for being gay was malicious, but all too common.

My favorite part of the book by far was when Clémence fought the man at the bar. I felt so empowered seeing her swing at a full-grown man, and the way she protected her grandmother from him made me smile. Plus, popping the tires on his motorcycle afterwards? Iconic!! Clémence and her grandmother are so cool!!! The ending also very much shocked me, but I felt it was a very fitting way to end the story.

Overall, this book was incredible, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. But, I definitely think it’s good for an older audience because of the nudity, sex, and drugs. Although I cried like a baby reading this, I felt so content after reading it, and will definitely be calling my abuela more. 5/5 stars!!!

Forget Me Not was a lot more dark and intense than I originally expected. It is definitely not a lighthearted and fluffy read. This book covers plenty of heavy topics, including Alzheimer’s, violence, and homophobia, and it censors very little. But the portrayal of these topics did not seem rushed and felt natural as the story progressed.

My one issue is that the plot was not the easiest to follow, especially toward the end of the story. I also have conflicting emotions on how the book ended, and I’m left feeling slightly unsatisfied.

But overall, Forget Me Not is a beautiful and heartfelt journey about time, family, and nostalgia. I recommend this book to anyone who loves beautiful art and tear jerking stories.

This is a lovely graphic novel all about love. It’s not suitable for children so don’t make that mistake, but even the rude bits were lovely.

Clemence loves her Grammy and hates seeing her sad in the nursing home, Grammy doesn’t want to be there so Clemence helps her run away and takes her on an adventure.

It’s a lovely story of love and family, and made me miss my own Grandma.
