I found this a bit too long, and quite repetitive. If it was shorter, I think I'd have enjoyed it a whole lot more. It was so beautifully written, and such great characters, predominantly Sid.

I loved this book. A love story, a sad story and an uplifting story all rolled in one. Heart breaking and heart warming, it brought a tear or two to my eye. Jack and Libby are young, happy and in love, thanks to Sid, they are also moving into the 'almost house of their dreams'. So much work to do to achieve their goals, calls for hard work, friends and a little more money than they actually have. Ever the optimist, Sid's favourite saying throughout is ‘Life ain’t all beer and skittles.’

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I thought The Art of Loving You was a poignant read that dealt with the subject of grief with sensitivity and care.

The book is beautifully written, and the characters are well-rounded, likeable, and relatable — I particularly loved Sid's character.

I did think that the book was a bit long and repetitive in parts, but it was still an enjoyable, emotional, touching read.

The Art of Loving You Amelia Henley
Love love love. I fell in love with Libby, and I really enjoyed this book. It's so beautifully written. At one stage I wasn't sure how I wanted this book to end.
I was in tears at the end, which seldom happens to me.
More Amelia please!! I listened to some of this book on audio, the narrator is exquisite.

Note to publisher
Last year, I couldn't see HQ books on netgalley, it waa sorted by email. It worked fine for a while, but now it seems I am blocked from requesting again. I've emailed twice without response.

I adored this book.

I loved the characters. I loved the emotion and read with tears in my eyes in parts. I loved the expected turns that the story took me on. Honestly, I was moved by the emotion of the story. Libby was such a wonderful main character. Her journey throughout was so moving. I was buoyed by the hope that was weaved throughout and I was desperate for a happy ending.

I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did, so it’s an easy 4.5 stars for me.

I can’t wait to see what this author writes.

I think you will need the tissues at the ready it is certainly a rollercoaster of emotions. This book is the best book of the year so far wish I had read it sooner.

Jack & Libby move into a house they bought from Sid who has moved into a Care Home and he is certainly is a character that has a turn of phrase that were funny. This book deals with a lot of things grief, angry and there is happiness as well.

The characters in this book are strong and link together well. I was crying through a lot of the book.

I would recommend you to read this book you will not be disappointed.

I was hooked on this book from the very beginning. I definitely felt like it shattered my heart into a million pieces and put it back together again.

It’s taken me a long time to find the words to sum up this book! It is poignant, beautiful and original. I loved the character of Sid and it was refreshing to see an older character, who could have easily been a side character, have so much prevelance and importance in the book. It definitely makes you realise how much we can learn from the older generation, if only we can put down our gadgets long enough to listen to them.

This book covers many important themes, and delivers some very poignant messages, but the ones I will definitely take away are the exploration of grief and the need for kindness at all levels of society in 2021.

This has definitely been one of my favourite reads of 2021, and I am so happy that this author has branched out into this genre as it just re-inforces what a talented writer she is. This has been a gripping and life-affirming story. I would highly recommend this book to fans of Cecelia Ahern, Beth Morrey and Sian O’Gorman.

Thankyou so much for Netgalley and HQ for allowing me to read an Arc of this amazing, emotional book.

Ameila Henley has given us a book that really does touch on all your emotions. You 100% need tissues for this read .

This book had me from the start. The prologue really pulls you in. It has you asking constantly what's the secret making me want to read on. Her writing style is truly beautiful, it really helps create a picture of the characters and also the setting in such a detailed way.

Her writing style is so easy to read, I could have read this is 1 day if it weren't for the emotions I felt while reading it.

All the characters in the book were well developed and had a great background story, they were relatable as well. They all have their struggles. I absolutely loved Sid, he is the quirky elderly character that we all love and wish was out neighbour and friend.

This novel captivated grief in its true, raw form perfectly, it showed us that life is precious and that we should not take things for granted.

Be more like Jack!

I wasn't prepared to enjoy this as much as I did but definitely one of my top reads of 2021! I'm a sucker for a loveable old man so Sid struck a chord with me - everyone needs a Sid in their life!
Heartwarming, beautifully emotional and full of hope, this is a book that will stay with you long after you finish the final page.

Discovering Amelia Henley's stories always feels like visiting a warm and familiar place, like a family house. The exquisite writing greets me at the door and I let my walls down. It is somehow easier with thrillers as they have a different taste and purpose (although I can always tell when I’m reading something by her)!
Jack and Libby. I have been putting off writing my review because I didn’t, and probably still don’t have the words. The author has a way to take me by surprise and make me feel all the feels, even when I don’t want to. Because I’m hypersensitive, I compartment and lock my feelings in rooms I don’t visit often. This time, the sheer force of the love between the pages knocked the doors and left me naked. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I sound as if this was a bad thing. On the contrary. I do need to face those fears you put on paper, those details that hurt or make you smile. Amelia reminded me of that. Jack and Libby reminded me of that. And I don’t know what to do because my doors are open and I love those characters so much. Sid, Libby’s mom and sister... I will keep everyone in my heart.

What a wonderful book, it really tugs at the heartstrings. It covers an array of emotions but was a delight to read. I was so invested in Libby and Jack's story. Really would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance.

I was not at all prepared for this book. It was absolutely heartbreaking, but smattered with glimmers of hope that kept me reading until I had finished the book in one day. Such beautiful characters, hard themes but it was approached so wonderfully. I will definitely recommend this book.

The Art of Loving You starts out hopefully and you think you're in for a light hearted read as Jack and Libby move into their new home. But this belief is swiftly shattered when a trip out for lemsip and prosecco ends in a mugging and stabbing.

Without giving away any more spoilers, I will say that this story was incredibly moving, and was a love story in more than one way. It's a testament to the power of love in its many forms. It's a sensitive and real portrayal of intense grief and also shows there is always hope even when it feels like all is lost.

Intense from the beginning, I was completely absorbed in the story of Jack and Libby and the supporting cast were also brilliant, especially Sid. A really good read that captured my heart.

Libby and Jack have just bought their first home, with the help of their friend, Sid and they have so many plans for their future together, then tragedy strikes which turn their lives upside down and it seems nothing will ever be the same again.

The Art of Loving You is a tale of hopes, dreams, love and loss, which completely enveloped me from the first page, I was so invested in Libby and Jack, theirs was a perfect love story, with so much to look forward to, whilst never knowing what's around the corner and just shows that you should live for today because tomorrow is never promised.

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

3..5/5.
