Deception is a very well written romantic suspense. The plot is and edge of your seat page turner. I highly recommend it.

Nice mystery thriller with a romance too. A secret bodyguard, rich father and a new business. People are dying but who is after her? Nice twist at the end. I thought the book was interesting. I liked it.

A new author for me, and definitely one I will be looking out for, this story has everything suspense, intrigue and romance with just the right amount of heat.. Both Thorne and Katelyn have baggage from their upbringings which affect how they approach life now, but they work together to protect Katelyn from her attacker and solve the case. Great storyline and execution.

Deception by Patricia Rosemoor is a simple suspense/romance and is exemplary it its genre. Patricia Rosemoor tells a good story, using simple writing and a transparent plot, but it is comfortable. Sometimes that is the book that a reader is looking for. In this case, Katelyn Wade is the proud new owner of a cafe and guesthouse on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. She has had some personnel problems but other than that it has been fairly clear sailing. Her bartender, Sam, didn't come to work on Tuesday and she hasn't seen him since, which surprised her, but a new guy who seems to have nothing doing, Thorne Hudson, has shown up and volunteered to bartend until a permanent replacement can be found. She would probably have to replace her maintenance man, Donald Radtke, sooner rather than later because, although he did a decent job, he had not customer service skills at all and didn't seem to care. She also had a pest of an ex-boyfriend, Aaron Starkman who wasn't able to take no for an answer, and a father who couldn't either, although he was a wealthy man and accustomed to being in charge. He owned the company that manufactured an assault rifle that had just been used to murder seven and no one was happy. One person was so unhappy, that he/she was making threats against Katelyn and her two half siblings. He wanted her to have a bodyguard. She didn't. Except for Sam, mostly nonsense that she could deal with until she couldn't. Then there was Thorne and her overwhelming attraction for him.

This was a perfect read. Just enough suspense, just enough romance. The chemistry between Katelyn and Thorne is satisfying enough to seep romance readers happy and tense enough to keep the suspense going. Despite the fact that Katelyn thinks no one knows who her father is, she is wrong, and is happy to have Thorne there to protect her. Always a good addition to the story: he has lied to her and she doesn't think she can trust him. The story is a good one, believable and current with all the mass shootings happening in the country right now. The characters are well-written, interesting, and perfect for each other. Lots of back-story and emotional baggage is revealed as the story unfolds. There is misdirection aplenty and some very tense scenes. I enjoy Rosemoor's books. I think you might, as well.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Deception by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #deception

Deception is a brand-new novel by Patricia Rosemoor and possibly the first in a new series called Justice Investigations. As with so many stories by this author, the book is packed with intrigue and suspense along with an emotional element and strong, yet at times vulnerable characters. Katelyn and Thorne have survived difficult pasts, but there is always a little trepidation when it comes to matters of the heart, so as secrets are revealed and unity is required to protect Kate’s life, a bond will form that can hopefully stand the test of time. Deception is a gripping and steady paced story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe Deception, by Patricia Rosemoor, is a reissue or perhaps a revise of an earlier book called His Deception. I'm not sure if it's just a title change or more. In any case, this novel was the first one I'veread by this author, and I enjoyed it well enough.

Katelyn is the daughter of a tycoon with threats against him. Since she's refused protection, he's hired Thorne to secretly bodyguard her. Thorne is a former military guy who now works in security. He manages to get hired as a temporary bartender at Katelyn's cafe. He finds himself enamored with Katelyn from the moment he sees her photo, and his attraction for her grows quickly once they actually meet.

In spite of the threats and a dead body and the fact she knows nothing of Thorne aside from his good looks, Katelyn goes away with him for a few days and has apparently unprotected sex. A lot of it. Eventually, she learns the truth about him, and she feels betrayed. A murderer and threats are still out there though, so she's stuck with Thorne for the duration.

Thorne is a pretty sucky bodyguard, actually. He alternates between having trouble keeping his hands off his charge and losing track of her. That said, that's a sweetness to how into Katelyn he is. Katelyn, for her part, is okay, though it always creeps me out when a grown woman still calls her father Daddy. But that's a petty complaint.

Usually, I'm very proficient in figuring out mysteries early on in a book, but Rosemoor does a decent job presenting a handful of reasonable suspects. That said, some of their behavior was overtly suspicious, which makes it hard to understand why the suspects who ultimately weren't guilty were behaving the way they did.

Overall, it's a decent romantic suspense with an HEA, so if that's your thing, this quick read might be a good choice for you.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Wow, lots of drama and intrigue in t his book as Katelyn does not want to accept a bodyguard that her father wants to send as there have been death threats on his family. He secretly sends Thorne and he is immediately thrust into saving her from different threats - some small but others deadly.

One thing that Katelyn hates is a liar so you just know that when she finds out Thorne is really there to protect her not just stopping to user her cafe and B&B, and wow they are great together!

There were more levels to the story so it was not easy to figure out who the guilty person/persons were but I did kind of get a hint when the was mention of weird sounds in the basement.

The only thing that I wish was explained a bit more was that there were three employees that suddenly "left" and one we end up knowing was a murder but no mention if the others were just coincidence?? Which I don't know about the restaurant business so maybe that is commonplace? I guess I like to have all my little strings tied up at the end of the story.

Non-stop action and lots of drama and such sizzling chemistry between Katelyn and Thorne that I could not put the book down! Plus, I grew up in that area of Wisconsin so it is fun to read about it - remember hearing about the mail boats around the lake.

Another good story by Patricia Rosemoor. I have to admit that when I spot a new book by this author, it makes me stop to check out the information.
Danger, romance, and some good main characters? Yes, this book had it. Both Katelyn and Thorne had good development as people and the emotions that they were dealing with. Their personal histories weren't easy and sweet but did have depth. Even Katelyn's father was something else. He cares for her, carries a lot of guilt about not being in her life more or sooner. But he also had a bit of a problem when it comes to being overprotective and controlling. Hiring Thorne was a good decision even though it went against Katelyn's desire to be bodyguard free.
You can imagine how hard that is for Thorne to keep the secret about his guarding her. I thought at one point, there was a touch too much angst about his guilt about keeping that lie. But it does move on and kept me guessing all over the place about whose trying to kill Katelyn. When the truth comes out, one person I suspected was the doer. But don't think that the author made it too easy. There were plenty of surprises.
Another best part is the H.E.A. and the Epilogue that is included.

At first, I would like to thank Netgalley and Dangerous Love Publishing for allowing me to review this book. Keep in mind that my review, however, is my true opinion on this book.

Wauw! Just wauw! This book just caught me. I was drawn to it and I loved it!

"Deception" by Patricia Rosemoor is the story of Katelyn Wade, a stubborn woman, who is being targeted by a murder. She does not, however, want to admit that, and she does especially not want a bodyguard. Her father does not want anything more than to keep his daughter safe, and he secretly hires a bodyguard to look after Katelyn. Thorne Hudson is the bodyguard's name, and Katelyn suddenly finds herself attracted to him. But then a man is murdered, and that changes everything. Who can Katelyn trust? And who is out to get her?

I kind of made that sound more of a mystery and less of a romantic story, but that is not the case. Even though the mystery plays a huge role in the story, the romance has its saying as well. And I love that combination.

The descriptions are wonderful, and I absolutely love Patricia Rosemoor's writing style. This book certainly caught my attention, and it was kept all the way to the end.

I loved the tension along with the love between Katelyn and Thorne. And I loved the father-daughter relationship that is also described in the story.

This is a very addictive story! And it is an amazing one! And I obviously loved the suspense! It was perfect!

Katelyn Wade’s parents were never married, but her wealthy father has always been a part of her life. When a mass shooting occurs and the weapon was manufactured at her father’s precision weapons facility, she and his family receive threats. Her father wants her to have a bodyguard, but she refuses. When Thorne Hudson stops by Katelyn’s Lakeside Guest House and Café, she feels an instant connection to him. She has no idea that he is a bodyguard hired by her father and slowly begins to let him into her life. Thorne is attracted to Katelyn…her openness, her smile and her positive attitude. What will she do when she finds out that he hasn’t been entirely truthful? When she becomes a target, can he keep her safe? Katelyn is a strong character that has had to depend on herself and Thorne, who is former military, has the skills to protect her and eliminate the threat. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
