Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review..
I was unusable to finish this twisty turns spy novel with an investigation into the truth behind a rumour that the Prime Minister was a traitor. I felt it went on too long and I lost interest in it.

Although it appears here as my having had access to this book, it never came up on my Netgalley app so I was not able to hear it or therefore leave a review. This is disappointing as I was looking forward to listening to this title.

My thanks to Penguin Random House U.K. Audio for an unabridged audiobook edition via NetGalley of ‘Triple Cross’ by Tom Bradby in exchange for an honest review. The audiobook is narrated by Juliet Aubrey and has a running time of 10 hours, 19 minutes at 1x speed.

This is the final book in Bradby’s trilogy of spy thrillers featuring MI6 operative Kate Henderson. While some background details are provided, this is a trilogy with a storyline that runs through all three books. As a result I won’t give plot details in order to avoid spoilers for those who have not read the others yet.

As I wrote previously these books are closer to George Smiley’s world to that of James Bond. There is still plenty of action along with the kind of twists and revelations that are integral to well written espionage fiction.

I have enjoyed this trilogy very much. It is tightly plotted with Kate Henderson continuing to be a strong lead. All three novels have been five-star reads for me.

With respect to the audiobook, Juliet Aubrey is an established British actor of theatre, film and television. While she has only narrated a select number of titles, she has been the narrator for all of the Kate Henderson trilogy. Her voice is crystal clear and a pleasure to listen to.

‘Triple Cross’ was an excellent finale, bringing together all outstanding plot threads. I certainly will be seeking out Tom Bradby’s other titles and will keep a lookout for his future projects.

I received this audiobook from the publishers via Netgalley for a review. Tom Brady's third novel in the Kate Henderson spy thriller series, thoughly enjoyable and well worth a listen the narrator does a very good job bringing the book to life.

Having not read the previous books, I took a gamble as usually you can pick up the story in subsequent books, this one was similar and I could work out the previous stories.
I did enjoy the audio, the narrator was very good and had a very rich self assured voice that was easy to listen to.

I did guess the protagonist early on in the story, but it didn't detract from the tangled web of lies. I was a bit disappointed in the usual politicians misdemeanours.

All in all a reasonably solid audiobook.

This is the final part of the Kate Henderson trilogy and should be read in order. Although an enjoyable book, it was not as good as the other two. At times the story was slow. Kate was supposed to be a super intelligent spymaster but seemed particularly stupid and gullible at times. It was pretty obvious who Dante was but the reason for their treason was very flimsy.
As I had the audio as well as the kindle version, when the middle section was rather slow I switched to audio to listen to while I was out walking. The audio was well-read.
This is an honest review of a complementary ARC.

This is the first book I have had by Tom Bradby. Unfortunately I started with book three of the Kate Henderson Trilogy. I have to give the review a lower score mainly because I feel to completely understand the characters I needed to have read the previous book.
Tom Bradby however, is a very good writer and I will certain look out for other books by him.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to receive this book

Triple Cross by Tom Bradby

I loved the first two books in this trilogy of spy thrillers, featuring Kate Henderson (M16 operative) and her family. In this conclusion, the loose ends are tied. Regrettably, I didn't enjoy this novel as much as the preceding two. Much of the energy has gone and the plotting seemed inevitable, as did the denouement. The big reveal is, I think, disappointing and raises more questions about the preceding novels than it answers. I also found the characters dislikable this time, especially Kate, whose attitude towards her ailing mother turned me cold (I do realise I'm especially sensitive to this). Her relationship to her whole family is rather odd. I listened to the audiobook read by Juliet Aubrey, a fine actress, but who seems to struggle with this.

This is my first Tom Bradby book which is the third in the series.

I didn't at any point feel like I missed out not reading the first two which is great - the book doesn't overly reference back to the past, but explains it when needed and has made me want to go and read the first two as they sounds as exciting as this one. I find this really unique. Usually books reference back so much you have no interest in reading the originals, or they don't reference back enough and you are left confused.

Kate, a spy, has left the secret service but been contacted by the prime minister for one last task. She wants to choose her family over her job and hopes this will be her last ever job. the full story is full of twists and turns and really enjoyable the narrator delivered the scenes superbly.

thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

The 3rd book in the Kate Henderson trilogy - will there be more? A thrilling ride. I couldn’t put it down. Tom does a fantastic job of ratcheting up the tension and twisting your mind in knots as to who is the person they’re hunting. LOVED it.

First time reading Tom Bradby and was not disappointed. Fast paced storyline set mainly in Europe including Russia and Prague, Kate Henderson a UK ex spy is trying to leave the establishment for good, but can you ever really step away. For fans of previous books with this character you won’t be disappointed, I read as a stand alone and worked fine, although might go back and read previous books in this series. . Narration was excellent and captures the tense situations. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook.

Oh. My. Good. God. I was backing the wrong horse the whole way. What a fantastic book!

Triple Cross by Tom Bradby is the final instalment of his Kate Henderson spy trilogy. Kicking off with a potentially compromised prime minister in the first instalment, Triple Cross brings a complex web of masterful spy-craft and treachery to a conclusion. It’s a superb read. Each book has delved deeper into the depths of the story and has been better than the previous one but each also stands alone as a superb read. Many of the characters appear in all 3 books and, by the end, they feel like old friends (or, in some cases, enemies).

The pacing builds the tension throughout and the climax at the end is difficult to put down. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was excellent. I have walked to the moon and back in a couple of days with my headphones to see what happened.

I would thoroughly recommend all 3 books. It is difficult to be objective when you have immersed yourself from start to finish but I’m not sure how well this would be as a stand alone. I think suffice to say - it wouldn’t be as enjoyable and you would have missed 2 excellent reads that go before - so start at the beginning and strap yourself in for the ride.

With thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random House for the advance audio copy.

Brad by is a gifted storyteller and Triple Cross is as exciting as the first two books in this series. It makes a change to have a female at the centre of the narrative and to see her domestic and professional worlds collide. So plausible and this is escapist spy fiction with more than a ring of truth.

This story calls Kate back to her secret agent role to head up a small team tasked by the Prime Minister to hunt out a mole at the top. It works well as a standalone as the backstory for each of the principal characters is alluded to throughout. However, it’s better to read in sequence to fully understand many of the nuances of relationships and the barbed asides from some characters.

The plotting is superb; convoluted so it’s impossible to second guess where the story is leading. Who’s at the heart of betrayal. It could be a husband, close friend, colleague, senior official or even the PM. The skill in the storytelling is that we’re kept guessing. The pace is fast, there’s a real sense of danger and excitement and I felt as if I’d been dropped into the middle of a world of espionage and double dealing.

I’ve always enjoyed Le Carré stories; they are exciting but in a different way. Bradby’s writing is vibrant, bang on the minute and issues ( there’s even a nod to high level associations with individuals who procure under age girls for entertainment). Brad by has big boots to fill in this genre and he’s doing so in spades. Absolutely loved this story. Totally involved from start to finish. The narration is good; a little stilted at times, but I can forgive that. Great character voices. Miss this at your peril!

My thanks to the publisher for an audible review copy via Netgalley.
