We had a problem with this book - when my three children started to read it, they argued over which recipe to try first! The recipes are split into sections breakfast, snacks and bakes, main meals and yummy extras) and there is a really useful opening sections which covers tools, techniques and safety tips. This book is colourful and filled with helpful photographs and also has the option in places for the reader to add helpful notes, pictures or take part in activites (such as an observational experiment about antioxidant levels in food). Thank you Helen Burgess for creating this impowering, informative, useful book! We decided on pizza wheels followed by banana lollies for our first attempt and my children have created many more of the recipes since.

Thank you NetGalley and Collins Kids for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really easy to read cookbook and refreshing to see one that doesn't demand lots of complicated cooking equipment. I like that the photo at the beginning showing the equipment is clear to see with simple labels. Children will be able to follow it easily. Each recipe has colourful photos and easy to follow instructions. There is a great chart at the end for children to mark up what colours of the rainbow they have eaten and a good explanation of the reasons for ensuring we eat lots of different colours. My toddler and I followed the pancake recipe for lunch today and it was easy and more nutritious then traditional pancakes. These recipes would be perfect not only for children but also for parents on their weaning journey.

This book is great, children will love the recipes, all of which have proper photos, easy step by steps and space for children to fill in different things about the recipe, eg. What's your favourite fillings, create your own smoothie and write it down, naming all the types of beans you know and so many more! I love the top tips and cooking information too. Simply a fab cook book for children with yummy recipes. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this fabulous book.

‘You CAN cook tasty food’ is a lovely recipe book for kids.

My first impressions were that the recipes looked both appealing and fairly healthy. The illustrations are also lovely. It is written for children to read, and it seems to have the potential to really enthuse a child over getting into cookery.

It starts with an introduction to nutrition, given in a fairly factual way which seems important in current times where we want to be neutral about our judgement of foods to avoid pitfalls associated with eating problems later in life.

The book features a load of recipe choices - breakfasts, healthy snacks, drinks and some that will appeal to a sweeter tooth - such as the ‘Chocolate mousse’ made using avocados - this is delicious and needs to be tried!

I think the author has done a fantastic job at creating a healthy recipe book to inspire and facilitate budding chefs!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
