I call this type of story "sugar manga." Very sweet, candied art, very sugary story, as expected from the title and the description.
The only thing that didn't catch me enough was that I got into the rut of sugar clichés very quickly, there wasn't much depth in the character. But in fact, here one cannot want who knows what, one should mainly enjoy them.
This original opinion is in Bulgarian, sorry for the translation errors. I am adding a link.

Thank you so much for Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this manga.
This gives me High School Debut vibes but with a different artstyle (plus the leading guy has Justin Bieber hair not my fave but he's still cute). It truly helps people that have unrequited feelings and how they deal with it. I also loved both characters and there were moments that I wanted to screenshot the panels especially the guy moments. Overall, this is a fantastic start to a manga series and I am excited to see what the next volume comes up with. Because of these points, I have to give this manga a 4.5 out of 5 stars

This was quite a cute read, though it was pretty cheesy and rather quickly. The two main characters of this were adorable together and the art style is very beautiful. I'm super excited to see how things go from here. Looking forward to reading the rest of the manga!

This was a quick, but delightful read. I am so glad I requested this. Thank you again Netgalley for getting this manga into my hands! 5 stars and new favorite!

I'm sad I didn't enjoy this more, honestly. I'm always interested in reading cute shoujo stories, but this was... very one-dimensional and shallow. While it seemed interesting, with the heroine getting rejected in the first page and finding a new crush with another boy who asks her to have "one-sided feelings" for him (???), I couldn't get into the feelings the author tried to set up.

There were no reasons for the heroine to like the first boy, who was quite mean to her, Chigira (the new boy/crush) is apparently cool for no reason and every girl is into him? He obviously likes the heroine but he still keeps the whole "one-sided feelings/no confession" thing, even when she starts liking him (even if it was super fast and not very realistic?)... Lots of things made no sense.

In fact, I think the only point that made sense was the heroine being called out for being a stalker, because apparently she things having a crush... means following a boy and taking pictures or whatever, instead of talking to them and getting to know them. There's no character depth at all, and despite usually enjoying light romances, I don't think this caught my attention enough to keep going with future volumes, sadly.

The art is nice enough, lots of blushing scenes and characters that show up for one frame to just create brief drama that doesn't last any more than a page... Maybe if reviews of the next volumes show that the main characters got some development or at least like some depth to them beyond the basic crush thing, I'll reconsider reading more!

A very cute romance manga that doesn't seem to rely on toxic tropes that I frequently see in other such series. I'm excited to see how their story will continue.

A fun read with a cool concept. Maayra and Chigira have great chemistry and the book shines when these two characters are interacting.

I am very conflicted about this manga. It was super cute, but I have a huge issue with the whole stalker aspect to the plot in the story. Stalking, in my opinion, is not cute and not something to wholeheartedly condone. Unrequited love is fine. You can be friends and have unrequited love for them. I actually wish the novel took that route. Instead, the author seemed to push the narrative that Maaya, the main character, could not have an unrequited love without the stalking aspect and that she relished in it. If it weren't for this plot point I'd give this series at least one or two more stars.

This was very sweet! While I felt slightly frustrated in the beginning due to wanting a little more depth to Kisaragi (I also didn't like how she kept calling herself ugly), I found that I really enjoyed this story. I'm a huge fan of the trope where said popular boy becomes friends with unpopular girl and a romance starts to unfold.

This trope though I felt was unique in how it was presented, which I really liked! I wouldn't say I find reading the same trope boring (because it's my favorite for a reason), but it felt creative in this story and had me very engaged. It probably didn't help that Chigira is one of my favorite kind of male heroes. Quiet, sort of "out of it," athletic, and a kind person when you get to know him. (Granted, they usually are already kind, but the heroine doesn't realize that until she really gets to know them.)

I was bummed when the manga ended because it felt fairly fast paced and found myself getting caught up in these characters lives. It seems like there are quite a few after school activities and enjoy those activities being the setting for a variety of situations (especially the library!). I LOVED the ending, but that cliffhanger had me groan that I'll have to wait to see what happens next. LOL!

Overall, this was a very great read and excited to read more!

OH.MY.GOD! First of all, I wanted to thank to netgalley and Kodansha fo giving me such an amazing opportunity. I never ever would have dream of having this come true from such a Editorial like them whom I admire so much! And it wouldn't have if it weren't for Netgalley💞
So, going to the manga: it was AMAZING. There were something that make me feel like my beginnings with the manga with Aoha, I've been longing to feel this way so much time and couldn't find one until now. The characters oh god, I fell in love with them. They are so cute and special and differents of what I read before that now i dont know what I"ll do until the next volume comes out. The story toó, so unlike others that surprised me in a very happily way. The drawings were so clear and the traduction as well, I felt so lucky reading it in advnce and it was such a pleassure for the ejes toó. A truly beauty. I want to congratulate you all, seriously. It was made beautifully (and please note that for what i said before i mean it. I became kind of critic with mangas since i've read a lot now😅)
So, to summarize, EVERYONE PLEASE READ IT AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM LIKE ME!PLEASE, IM MAKING YOU A FAVOR! YOU NEED TO!
And to the publishers: PLEASE dont keep us waiting for vol 2, or i'll die 😭 it goes straight up to my fav of the year.

3.5, rounding up: I'm in the middle but a little on the favorable side for this title. For context, I am trying to read different genres of manga. I haven't read a lot of Shōjo manga and some of the well accepted plot threads and beats are not familiar to me. At first, I felt the story was awkward with the proposal of the one sided love as a fix for Maaya's heartbreak and embarrassment. But, by the end, I found that this story is about her learning to receive love instead of being the one who always gives attention and time and affection. I'm interested to see where it goes with this premise and develops the relationship between Maaya and Chigira-kun.

Sometimes, there is nothing better to distract you from the difficulty of your life than to read a cute manga story with nice characters and a feel good romance.
This is exactly what And yet you are so sweet is about. In this first tome, we are following Maya, a cute high-school student who had the bad luck to fall in love with a fellow student who rejected very harshly her love confession. Depressed, Maya vows to never again confess her feelings and love another person.
But that was before meeting Chihigaya, a popular boy who suggests that she shoud develops one side feeling for him.

The first volume of this manga really put into place all the characters and the story, it read very easily and was an overall enjoyable moment though classic in the shojo world. We already have a glimpse of the characters motivation and the end opened an endless possibility as to how the story will unfold in future volumes.
I will probably pick up the next volume as I'm certainly interested to see where the author will go with the story.

This is a beautiful and cute high school romance ☺️
The plot starts with Maaya Kisaragi who is a fun-loving and happy teenager. She has been dreaming about her perfect boyfriend and she confessed her love to Yamada, which turns out to a great failure. She was disappointed and blamed her looks for this failed love confession.
While she was talking to herself about the failed confession in the library, Chigira heard her and tried to cheer her up.
Chigira was in same standard as Maaya and he was very popular in the school. He was adored by each and every girl in the school.
But next day, when Kisaragi was coming back in train, she noticed Chigira in the same train and both started talking about her failed love confession and he proposed her to pretend to have one-sided feelings for him in order to avoid the rumours of her failure.
As the plot goes on there are series of events where Maaya started to have real feelings and Chigira who was cold to the other girls, took care of Maaya whenever she needed help.
Ultimately Maaya understands that she has fallen for Chigira, whom she always considered as out of her league and even in the end Chigira confesses that he wants Maaya's eyes only on him and on one else.
Well, this was one of the sweetest and quick high school romance that I have read recently and I will definitely recommend this to a contemporary light romance reader.

This advance review copy was kindly provided by #Kodansha and #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Maaya is a typical Japanese high schooler. One day, she decides to confess her feelings to a guy she likes, but he brutally rejects her (even calling her ugly). Her handsome classmate hears her talking to herself about her experience and he allows her to pretend she’s his stalker.

The premise sounds strange, but it works. Like the title itself, Maaya and Chigira are wholesome and sweet, and you can see them slowly falling for each other. The art style is adorable too, reminiscent of Yuu Watase (especially the eyes). I’m looking forward to reading the next volume.

Maaya Kisaragi confessed her feelings for the first time ever to Yamada, but he completely rejected her. So, she decides to never confess her feelings to someone again, she will only have one-sided feelings. One day, she meets the most popular guy in her school, Sui Chigira who provides her a solution to her problems. Instead of trying so hard to develop feelings for a random guy, why not start pretending to have feelings for him. But things are more complicated than they seem, and as Kisaragi and Chigira are getting closer, it becomes difficult to only pretend and not to develop real feelings.

I got really excited when I saw that Kodansha was going to publish this one in English since I kept hearing about it. I wasn’t disappointed at all, it checked all the boxes for me.

From what I can tell after reading the first volume, it seems to be a light manga with no unnecessary drama (and girl, we need more of that!). It may seem cliché at first because Chigira is the popular guy at school who is indifferent towards other girls, while Kisaragi is the complete opposite, as she says, she is out of his league. Actually, Chigira did remind me of Yuki, from Fruit Basket. Like him, he is popular and sweet towards the main character. Some people might not like that kind of character but, there were some scenes where Chigira is really cool while some others where he was so sweet towards Kisaragi. Honestly, what more can I ask for?

The author decided to start her manga by talking about the painful side of being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back, which I find interesting. Kisaragi rather be ignorant about the other person’s feelings than have her feeling unrequited. I don’t remember other manga talking about this in that depth, but I might be completely wrong.

As I have previously said, I would recommend this manga if you are looking for a light one with sweet scenes where the characters have a nice relationship.

Volume one starts with Maaya, Kisaragi confessing to her crush. He painfully rejects hers then blasts her on social media, what a jerk!

While Kisaragi is complaining to herself about the situation out loud, something we all do, she’s overheard by the handsome First-Year Chigira-kun. Who tells her she look best when she smiles, I already ship them lol. It’s like every time she says something personal out loud, he just happens to be around. He gives her a proposal to have pretend to have one sided feelings for him, but what’s his motive?

I can’t wait to find out as the series progresses.
Thank you to The Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC!!

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline is really cute and sweet. The characters are loveable and although typically a plot like this could be extremely cringe I felt like the way this was layed out and written as very well done and I was laughing and enjoying reading it instead of worrying and cringing at what the main female was doing or going to do next.
Sometimes books like this can be difficult to read because of naive protagonists but I feel like this book was executed very well and flowed seamlessly.
The art style was quite traditional from what I've seen of these types of books and I found it very pleasing on the eye.
I definitely would recommend this to those with like-minded tastes for romance manga and I look forward to future volumes.

This is a wholesome high school romance manga! If you like this type of reading experience, u shouldnt be disappointed if u pick this book up!
The main girl was kinda annoying (pick me energy!) It was cringey sometimes, but also very precious.
Overall its nothing special or anything, but an enjoyable read.

I wouldn't consider myself too much of a romance manga fan, but I decided to pick this one up because the description seemed quite fascinating, but also confusing... It's set in high school and follows Maaya, someone who finally got the courage to confess to her crush but got rejected and then made fun on social media. Then, Chigira, a popular guy in her school, ends up suggesting that she pretends to have one-sided feelings for him so she can get over it. She accepts it, and soon this fake love evolves into something more. Now, I'm not really sure how this would work in the real world, or how/why someone could suggest something like that.

But, ignoring that, I still will say I enjoyed this manga - I enjoyed it more than what I thought I would. One of the things that I just loved was the art style, which was just so beautiful and encaptivating. The story itself, between Maaya and Chigira, is very cute too and I loved seeing it develop. It was quite cliche to other romance things, but it was still adorable and fun to read. Near the end we're introduced to a new character, and I'd be interested in seeing how the story would unfold in the second volume.
