Could I Please Have A Dog? is a story about a young boy who is trying to convince his parents to allow him to have a dog, but is told no, something I’m sure most of us have experienced as a child when asking for something. The pace of the book was perfect, making it easy for children to follow and understand. The rhyming couplets were great for younger children and makes it quite fun. I loved the illustrations by Ida Osterman and how each dog looked as though they had their own personality. The themes of hope and optimism were comforting and something I would expect to see in a book aimed at young children. The perseverance of the young boy was humorous and I can imagine young children taking inspiration from the story and creating lists of why they should have something (probably not to their parent’s amusement!). It did also give the feeling of you should persist until you succeed which is another great lesson to be teaching young children. Thank you to NetGalley, Marshall Silverman and Warren Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a great little story written in poems about never giving up hope and still being optimistic even when people tell you no.

The title is what I saw to my fiancé every morning! I can totally relate to this story of a child wanting a dog so badly. I think any child could relate to this at some point!

The book is about a boy who wants to convince his parents to have a dog, but not all things go very well ...
The illustrations in the book were beautiful! I had fun looking at the images and reading because the sentences, in addition to being very easy to understand, rhymed many times and then reading them aloud made it very entertaining, I would even say that it is perfect to introduce children to poetry because it would be a very friendly and fun way. I would definitely buy this book for children to read, even parents would have fun; as it is also very quick to read,it would be perfect to read to children before they go to sleep.

This was a clever little book that had me actually chuckling under my breath while reading. The main character wants a dog and is willing to do whatever it takes to get one...with some unintended consequences.

Such a fun read. To be honest I also wished for a dog when I was little but I never thought about making a list of the reasons I want a dog.

The artwork is beautiful and I think any kid would love this book and the adults as well because it teaches us about responsibility, really thinking a lot before taking such an important decision and it is a funny story. You will love the ending, I can guarantee that!

A really cute picture book about a little boy wanting a dog to be his companion, the persona was adamant that he gets a dog as such he continuously presented his points to his parents to pursue his goal of getting a dog. I enjoyed the rhymes in the book, it was easy to read and understand. I like how the persona is clever in his ways of convincing his parents to get a dog. It was a fun read for me.

The main character wants a dog and tries to convince his parents to let him get one. The book is a funny story of him trying to get a dog. It’s a fast read that younger students in elementary school will enjoy reading.

This is a short and whimsical poem about a little boy who after having a rough day at school, tries to convince his parents to let him get a dog.

It's quick, fun and I had a great time reading it.
If you wonder how you can get a kid to enjoy poetry, I believe this book is a great start, since it uses language that is very easy to understand and the story is about something they can definitely relate to.

I also loved the artwork and in general, you can see that this was something that was made with love.

"Could I Please Have a Dog?" by Marshall Silverman is a humorous tale of a boy searching for a furry best friend.

Needs are fewer when you're younger. Sure, you'll pester your producers for the odd fancy toy, but everyone knows that the one thing a child - girl or boy - really craves is a dog. Nothing would please some of my friends in their early twenties, even, than a dog.

I was very lucky. For eight years, I had the love and affection of a Lab, and she mine. Unlike the protagonist of Marshall Silverman's book, I never had to pester my parents for a dog. One just happened to show up.

I really liked the manner in which Silverman brought together the numerous happenings in the young boy's day-to-day life and spun a yarn around his aching desire to have a dog. The rhyming was whimsically wonderful, and the illustrations by Ida Osterman brought everything to life magically.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Warren Publishing for giving me an advance copy of this adorable treat of a book.

This is a super fun story! I thought it was going in a different direction and the ending was slightly confusing, but there is a strong sense of determination and making the best of any bad situation. The writing was great with an entertaining rhyming scheme, and I think if you put aside the silliness of the "dogs" that are found throughout the story (which young readers will likely find funny anyways!) then it's a cute story of a poor kid who really does deserve a dog.

This book is a little confusing to me. It kind of reminds me of "Alexander and the No Good, Horrible, Bad Day" (which I love); and adding "can I have a dog" at the end. Is the book about having a rotten day or about wanting a dog?
It's not a bad little book. I'm sure many kids will love it. I will say it does teach determination. When all odds are stacked against this little boy, he doesn't give up on wanting a dog.

This book exceeded my expectations. The writing was enigmatic and wonderful. It took me on a journey I wasn't expecting. It's filled with twists and funny bits. I can't wait for my siblings to read it.

Funny! Lovely! Adorable!

Could I Please Have a Dog? is an amusing poetic (sort of) memoir (my experience of it) that evokes our childhood memories, leaving us utterly sentimental. This lovely boy is me, asking my parents, boring them forever and ever, for a dog. Asking them this one question, every day, every night, for a dog. But, in my case, I got a pet (it was a hamster, but I adored it nevertheless) in the end!

I thoroughly enjoyed everything this children's book carries - the adorable cover, the lovely illustrations, the relatable situations, the charming lyrics, the playful rhythm of them, and above all, the (un)fortunate series of mishaps that made me sad and merry at the same time.

Could I Please Have a Dog? is a sweet read I would love for every child to own and read.

This book was intellectually stimulating and funny even for someone in their 20's. It incorporates some big words to introduce to your child with a funny ending that had me giggling.

A fictitious children's book with a catchy rhyme and a relatable storyline about a child wanting a dog.
The pictures are a bit simplistic but the story is good enough that it more than makes up for it.
I very much enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to adding it to my collection.
