A fantastic book for anyone who interacts with children regularly. There's a huge amount of information here, with guides on how to foster children's social growth to be more confident and empathetic people. Definitely one to keep in your professional toolbox.

I think this book would be useful if one were taking the workshop or teaching on this topic, but I expected the book to stand alone as an educational resource. As it is, the content is pretty bare-bones and tells teachers what to expect when setting up the workshop, how to set up social norms, and some of the language they should be aware of.

It also educates staff very briefly on various behaviors or disorders before getting into the workshop lesson plans. I think that the plans would be useful for someone who does not have a teaching or therapy background. However, experienced teachers would find this to be pretty basic and would do well to seek out other resources.

A much-needed resource at the moment. A timely release of a resource that can be a great help to those working with children and young people who are facing and encountering distressing, confusing and frightening experiences prior to and during the pandemic.
Helpful information for supporting individuals and whole-class activities to support the emotional well-being and resilience of children. Great CBT tasks and explorations which aid children to develop awareness, and understanding, of emotions and difficult experiences.
Age-appropriate and a valuable resource for classrooms and for those who work with children in the community,

This is a great curriculum for leaning how to handle socio-emotional situations as well as strategies for self emotional control. I think this would be very helpful for special populations but also for a whole school. This teaches specific actions to help students deal with their mental health maintenance and how to handle various different situations.

This book would be a great source for teachers and parents to assist struggling children to create better coping mechanisms and build resilience. A well thought out book.

As a mental health counselor, I was eager to dive into this book. Unfortunately, I didn't find the book as useful in it's entirety as I had hoped. I felt as though it was two books in one, both useful on their own but once combined, didn't aim to the same audiences. Part one's focus on mental health statistics and diagnoses were geared towards a lay person while the second part was more applicable to a therapist or someone already working with this population.

There were aspects of each part that I can pull out and incorporate into my clinical practice and I appreciated the access to the worksheets.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me early access to this title in exchange for an honest review.

This is an amazing book for the classroom or home. Jam packed with useful information and resources it is an invaluable asset.
It contains numerous activities to get kids and adults focused on matters of the mind. It also has a wealth of information about different mental health issues explained in a way that everyone can understand and relate to. This is a fantastic book that I will most certainly be purchasing.

This book is so relevant for the world right now, coming out of the pandemic, the mental health of our children and young people is particularly vulnerable, and this book provides a practical means of helping us support the all important mental health of our future generations.

With a strong introduction as to why a focus on emotional health and well being is indicated, the body of this book provides numerous lessons for the age group 7-11 to help them connect to their mental health and promote that all important self awareness.

The activities are highly relevant and I can imagine this age group engaging with them well.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to educators of this age group.

As a school counselor, I don't think I will be able to enact this entire program, but I have already been thinking about various pieces of it and how I can incorporate it into my classroom lessons and small group sessions. I really appreciated that we were also given access to the worksheets, as I think I will use a lot of those too.

Some of the activities were a bit confusing when reading them, but that may be due to vocabulary differences (as this book was written in the UK and I am from the US - for example, it took me a minute to realize what a "rubber" is in the UK). I also think if I had the physical copy and was reading a little more closely, I may be able to work through some of my confusion (I found this to be mostly the case when reading instructions for the Willow activity.)

Overall, even if I do not use the entire program, I will definitely be using some of these activities, resources, and assessments with my students.

A great resource for teachers to help support their pupils' mental health. With clear plans and templates for each lesson this makes following the programme straightforward.
The information about how a child's background and circumstances can affect their mental health provides a deeper understanding of why this is so vital to pupils today.
