DC Morgan Brookes and the team have to work fast to find out who is behind the missing girls. Morgan seems to find herself constantly in danger. With not a lot of clues to go on, the team are desperate to catch the kidnapper before he strikes again.

This series has quickly become one of my favourite Detective series. The pace is fast and it's full of twist and turns. I like Morgan and her partner in fighting crime, DS Ben Matthews. There's always a hint of these two becoming romantically involved. I love the authors style in writing these books. I was hooked from the beginning and read it in one sitting.

its a small community full of gossip and intrigue..

its not long before a body is found and another girl goes missing...

brilliantly written as always and it was lovely to catch up with morgan and crew to see how they were all doing

Very well written thriller,part of a series involving Morgan a rookie detective around whom chaos flows. Really good characters and a modern storyline.

This is the third book in a series, but can very easily be picked up as a stand alone book. To be honest with you, I can hardly wait to read the two previous books!
This book revolves around Detective Morgan Brooks and her co workers who have been called out to a possible missing child/kidnapping of a 9 year old, Charlie. The mom had left her alone at home to await her father to pick her up. When the mom awakes the next morning with a call from the school that Charlie was not in attendance that day, her world turns upside down. The detectives soon find out there is a second missing girl. I want to say so much more about the plot of this book, but I do not want to give away any of the twists and turns that you will encounter along the way.
One of my true joys as a reader is finding a new-to-me author that has written a book that I cannot put down. This is this book and author! I was actually reading this book while blow drying my hair. I loved it that much!! This book was fast paced and has wonderful little twists. I have enjoyed this read immensely.

No police officer wants to be told about a missing child on their patch and Detective Morgan Brookes is determined little Charlie Standish won't stay lost for long. Searching for the little girl is traumatic for everyone involved and, with the golden hour long since gone, every minute without a resolution increases the likelihood of a tragic outcome. Then, while following up on the tasks DS Ben Matthews has given her, Morgan discovers Charlie isn't the only child who has disappeared from the same street in recent years and knows it is more than a coincidence.

This is the third book in the first rate Morgan Brookes series and although still a real page turner has less of the major twists and turns contained in the first two installments. The main characters are all present and make a great team who are very different but compliment each other.

The very nature of the case meant the suspect pool was smaller but there were still some unexpected issues to deal with. Morgan’s relationship with her boss comes under the microscope and I was surprised by Ben's vulnerability but once again it was handled brilliantly. There is a cliffhanger which is always good when you want a series to continue.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I love Helen Phifer's series and this is another excellent, highly recommended, read.

When 9 year old Charlie Standish is reported missing one morning the golden hour has already well and truly passed as Charlie disappeared the night before. Only her mother didn’t realise it. Oh dear. Police swing into action immediately. While canvassing the neighbourhood, DC Morgan Brookes learns that another girl, 15 year old Eleanor disappeared 15 years ago from the same street. She wonders if the cases could be related. I don’t know about you but I thought that was a very tenuous link!

There is a distinct lack of suspects but they do look closely at the nearest registered isex offender and Charlie’s dad whose alibi is a bit suss and the man has a terrible temper. Everyone is shocked and saddened when Charlie’s body is found the next day. Even more shocking is the disappearance soon after that of 11 year old Mary Wallace. Morgan, her
boss DS Ben Matthews and other team members work around the clock, desperate to find Macy before she, too, becomes a victim.

Meanwhile, because of the stress of the job, Morgan is receptive to the offer of a drink from new journalist in town Fin Palmer. Soon, Fin is everywhere offering Morgan drink, flowers, food and lifts. He is very handsome but is he what he seems? Morgan and Ben are both trying to ignore their growing feelings for each other.

As the days pass and the search for Macy moves to the woods, Morgan is convinced their first instincts, that she is still close to home are correct and she goes off on her own to follow a hunch. Has she bitten off more than she can chew?

What can I say - the book was good, the characters are nice, everything flowed and I enjoyed reading it. It just wasn’t quite as exciting as it could have been. Nevertheless I will keep my eye out for the next instalment. I received an advance review copy for free through Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Book 3 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series did not disappoint! Way better and much more engaging than the other previous two books in the series. Well done. Really enjoyed this one from beginning to end.

Ah another adventure with Morgan Brookes as the leading lady. This means party time. Well, for me as a reader, of course. The culprits rather see her going than coming.

Morgan is not the only character that is very likeable. There is her boss, Ben Matthews for instance. They are good friends and if you would ask them how they feel about each other, very likeable would not be accurate enough. ;)

Morgan has not been a detective for a very long time, but what she lacks in experience she makes up for in determination and stubbornness. When she is convinced of something, she is like a dog with a bone. She checks and double checks and even if she has to do it on her own, she will. Nothing will stop her until she has found what she was looking for.

She is tough, but she is very vulnerable too. Not surprising if you know what she has been through. After the long and stressful days she has, she longs for some company to relax with. It seems like she has found someone, hasn't she...?

This might not be my favorite story in the series, but it certainly was a very good book. I am looking forward to the next one. Even now I already have the feeling it will be a very creepy one. Let the countdown begin. 5 stars

The Hiding place is the third book in the Detective Morgan Brooks series and what a great series it is.
Detective Morgan Brooks and Detective sergeant Ben Matthews are investigating the disappearance of nine-year-old Charlie who apparently disappeared in her own neighbourhood. Her mother had gone out for the night and didn’t release that Charlie was missing until the next morning. Charlie’s mum first thought that she was picked up by her dad, but that wasn’t the case. The team first thought that she had just run away until the find her body with severe head injuries. The team are devasted and they speed up the investigation. Who would want to murder an innocent child?
When another girl Macy goes missing the team search all the areas of Rydall falls to find her before it is too late.
The Hiding place by Helen Phifer is another fast paced, gripping episode in the series with lots of twist and turns. I love the characters especially Morgan, she seems to be always getting into trouble, not only in her work life but love life too. But she gets the job done. Towards the end of the book, I guessed who the killer was, but it didn’t harm the enjoyment of reading this. 5 stars from me.

This is book 3 in the Morgan Brookes series and a very easy read. it's fast paced and has interesting and likeable characters. Morgan and her team are involved in the investigation of missing children and this book also gives us more character development. There is plenty tension but I quickly guessed the killer from early on. It's a quick, easy and satisfying read. thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

first off I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture, the author Helen Phifer, and to NetGalley for inviting me to join the blog tour for this book as well as letting me read and review it. Even though have books 1 and 2 to read review after reading this one , I can't wait to go back and read them as well, it was fast pace though out the story , and had me setting on the edge of my set as well as kept me guessing on who had taken Charlotte, and the way the author wrote her bad guy made him creepy and not the type of person I wanted to knew or every met .As for the characters themselves there was some that I hated and some that I felt sorry for as well as some that I liked , and the story is told in various points of view, which also helps to bring in some of the creepiness that I mentioned before.

DC Morgan Brookes is back to work with the team when a young girl goes missing. When a second girl goes missing it’s a race against the clock to find her. Morgan is fighting her feelings for Ben and can they both realise they need each other?
Helen never lets down with her books, they are always fast paced with characters you care about and enjoy their development and I can’t wait for the next one! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The Hiding Place by Helen Phifer is the third book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. I enjoyed the book so much and read it in one day. Detective Morgan Brooks and her superior Detective Sergeant Ben Matthews are on the hunt for a murdering kidnapper in Rydal Falls. It seems there are very few clues to finding the nine-year-old Charlie who went missing from her street. It was sad when her body was found discarded close to home. Before the team can catch a breath, another young girl goes missing from the same neighborhood. Will they find answers in time to find and rescue Macy?
An unexpected diversion for Morgan is journalist Fin Palmer. As I read, I wanted to say, "No, Morgan, No!" Yes, I do really get drawn into the scenes when I enjoy a character in a series of books. I feel a connection and it worries me (in a good way) when I think they are making a wrong choice. Morgan is sometimes vulnerable when interacting with people due to trust issues.
Ben is also a favorite character. Oh goodness, he gets attacked as he leaves Morgan's apartment one night. Could the kidnapper be brave enough to try and incapacitate the detectives? This is another wonderful thriller by Helen Phifer!

Fast paced and gritty with a twist which nicely sets up the next instalment in this series.

Morgan Brookes is back for another heart-stopping search for a murderer. When a young girl goes missing from her neighborhood, Morgan and her boss (and secret crush) Ben are called to the scene. Before they can figure out who took the girl, her body is found in a nearby park. Meanwhile, another girl disappears in the same area, and the hunt for her seems to be going nowhere. In her personal life, Morgan has a new suitor who seems almost too good to be true, and he just might be. It's an exciting chase with some unexpected twists and turns.

Helen Phifer has really cornered the market with three different police procedural series. I have to say though, that Morgan Brookes is my favourite of all her characters. She is so sensitive with victim's families but lets no-one walk over her in the office. In this story she is faced with the heinous crime of child abduction and doggedly investigates the link to a historic crime even though her superiors believes there is no connection. This is an exciting read which had me turning the pages late into the night.

Third book in the DC Morgan Brookes series. Morgan and her team are on the hunt for a missing child, in true Morgan fashion trouble seems to find her in whatever case she is on. Another fast paced action packed read. Loved it!

When nine year old Charlie Standish goes missing Morgan and her boss, DS Ben Matthews lead a frantic hunt to find her. Unfortunately it’s her body they find but they hardly have time to investigate when another young girl, Macy Wallace, goes missing. This time they are determined to find her.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Hiding Place, which is a fast paced investigation with likeable characters. It is told from various points of view, giving the reader a broader perspective on events, but it mostly concentrates on Morgan Brookes, her investigation and tumultuous personal life. At this point I will note that she had a difficult upbringing, which is referenced in this novel, but explored in the previous ones, so for this reason I would recommend reading the series in order.

The pace of the novel is fairly frenetic, given the tension and stress of a missing child, but in terms of finding Macy not much happens until the final scenes. This sag in the investigation is covered by wild events in Morgan’s personal life and the growing attraction between her and Ben Matthews. The plot seems realistic enough with the police throwing resources at the search without any clear idea of where or who to look for.

I like this series as it seems full of normal people. Ok, Morgan has a lurid past, but that’s about it for quirks. It all seems so natural, the interactions, the flashes of humour and teasing and the reactions to events. 10/10 for characterisation.

The Hiding Place is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
